New Year, time for a new check in! How’s everyone doing?
I have to say I’m in the postpartum/winter blahs. I’m 10 weeks out and struggling a bit with anxiety and body image. Today I’m able to button my first pair of pre-pregnancy jeans, but I still have about 15-20lbs to lose. I’m trying to give myself some grace, 3rd kid, late 30s...but I’m definitely tired of my body not looking and feeling how I want it to. I’ve been walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes at night and eating well, so hopefully I start to shed some weight soon.
I also go back to work on Monday, which will either be good, or just a total cluster. DD2 is a very fussy baby, so I’m worried how she’ll do. My mother in law is watching her until after MLK day, and then she’s off to daycare with DD1. We have made great strides in the past 2 weeks, many more smiles, and she’s more interactive. I look forward to her having a personality.

aeroplaneoverthesea That is rough. I am having the same struggles especially since the holidays are over. I am up 6 pounds since the initial weight loss after birth, and I can't seem to lose. It's so frustrating but I had trouble losing weight while nursing with my other two, so I think that's a major factor. Dh and I got an elliptical for each other for Christmas, so I'm hoping it will help. Baby J is twisting her whole body to the side when I lay her on her back. I think she's getting close to rolling back to front. I'm not particularly looking forward to it because then I'll have to stop swaddling her, and she sleeps really well swaddled right now.

Hey! I'm doing okay. Bouts of anxiety so I was put back on a low dose of Zoloft at my 6 week appt and that seems to be helping some. I may ask to increase it slightly at my appt next week but I haven't decided yet. I'm still feeling feelings so I don't want to go too crazy with it (last time, I had terrible ppd so they put me on 150mg and basically numbed me right out).
DD3 is 13 weeks (I think??) and such a sweetheart. She's so smiley and interactive and I'm excited for her personality to start coming out more. She still fights naps like it's her job but she does love napping in my arms. That would work perfectly if I didn't have 3 older kids to care for haha.

Happy New Year guys! I haven’t logged in a lot recently with the chaos of the holidays! My little nugget is almost 12 weeks (wut) and she’s really starting to interact and smile and laugh so that’s been great. I’ve got 7 lbs to lose that don’t seem to be going away anytime soon and the holidays didn’t help that (whomp). Breastfeeding seems to be going well aside from a clog that almost turned into mastitis right before Christmas (whew) but now we are starting to sleep in longer stretches through the night which is nice for me but not so nice for my boobs (ow.)
Hope everyone is well!

Happy new year! We are doing well! DS2 is 12 weeks, wow time flies! He is still pretty chill and super smiley. We are working on napping and he is doing much better. He sleeps at night from 7:30ish-10-3ish-7/8 usually. We move him into our bed after that 10:00 feeding and we all sleep great. All my pre baby clothes fits but I would ideally like to lose 15-20 lbs, part of that has been hanging on since DD was born 5 years ago 😬 I’m under no illusions I will ever be my pre kid size or shape again but I’d like to be closer! I am planning on starting BBM on Monday and trying to be more conscious of food choices now that the holidays are over

I’m right on board with all of you and the trouble with weight loss. I thought I wouldn’t have any issues with weight since I only gained 20 pounds due to the diabetes, but with pumping and breastfeeding I’ve just gained. I think I’m even close to my weight when I was pregnant, which is so disheartening. And I don’t want to restrict my calories too much since it may decrease my supply and I’ve already fought so hard to increase that as it is. Tomorrow DS is 4 months old!! (If were going by weeks) Where did the time go?? I’m back at work part time, which is hard financially but I am really reluctant to leave him for full time. DS has also been discovering his hands and babbling a lot more, it’s amazing now that he’s getting more personality, and is becoming less of a potato lol

Doctor said baby J's front soft spot is unusually small at her four month appt. They are having her come back in a month to see if it's closing or just small and to see if her head grows. Of course, I made the mistake of googling, but I'm trying not to worry.

DS has been struggling with napping the last couple days and it is really frustrating. He was napping in his bed by himself finally but now is screaming like 2 minutes after being put down and does not settle. I feel like I can never get anything done and it’s annoying me

Hi friends! I'm becoming terrible of logging in here. Life is busy. My son just turned 5 last week and the baby is almost 4 months. I was feeling very anxious for awhile, but I was way over medicated on my thyroid meds so once I got that adjusted it has helped a lot. Breastfeeding is going well and I'm enjoying seeing his personality start to develop. He has also taken a bottle about 4x so far! So much better than my first 2 kids who refused them. Those baby laughs and squeals continue to kill me. I have my first post baby race this weekend so I'm excited. It's a trail 25k and its going to be a blast.

DD has had the cold from hell thanks to her older brothers insisting on coughing all over her. I think it’s finally on the way out, but nothing more pitiful than seeing your 3.5 month old struggle when you can’t give her anything but tylenol

cmb that is terrible. I hope she feels better soon! When E was sick back in December, he was making the saddest little whimper with almost every exhale the first 3 days or so. It was so heartbreaking to listen to. I thought we had finally got the spit up issues under control- went back to similac pro advance formula and got dr. Brown bottles but the past week has been so frustrating with the amount of spit up. I even went back to feeding him 4oz at a time instead of 5. It seems to help a little and he is satisfied with that amount but the trade off is him wanting to eat more like every 3 hours instead of 4 and no longer stretch of 5+ hours at night. Have you talked to your pediatrician about it? He might need meds and/or thicker formula. When DD does this, we need to go get her meds increased (she takes two reflux meds plus thickened bottles) I think DD is on the mend finally 🤞🏻

@crazy3dogmom that is pretty classic reflux signs.
You cannot overfeed a baby. They stop when they are full. That said, a reflux baby will have no rhyme or reason to when or how much they eat. They may only take 1-2oz one feed and then demand 7-8oz the next because it hurts to eat but eating can soothe their pain. They throw up, and then demand more. It’s a vicious cycle

Have any of you guys decorated your nursery before they’re born, and then wanted to redecorate once they get there? I feel like my boys nursery doesn’t match him now that I know him 😂 Major #firstworldproblems

I eventually got over it though, lol

stayingblonde, I probably should’ve put this in the reading thread, but do you have any good book recs? I think we read the same genres. Life has been heavy lately, I could use a good book. goldenlove, I was thinking about you, how is baby K? ETA: anyone else have their LO in daycare and freaking out about flu season? It is awful this year.

She already brought home a nasty cold earlier this month 😪 Luckily, it is mandatory for staff to get flu shots, but not necessarily for the kids 😭 Our pedi is actually going to give her a flu shot at the end of March when we hit 6 months. I’m just counting down the days...

I haven't checked in in awhile...life has been so crazy. While I was on maternity leave I interviewed for and got a new job. It's still in my school district, but I'm now the librarian at a completely different school. So I came back from 3 months off to a totally new job. It has been NUTS. I've changed schools over the course of my career, but I've been doing essentialy the same job for the past 14 years. This has just been so much change at one time and I'm not sure how well I am handling it.
Baby S is a delight, though. My first was easy and sweet and this guy is even easier and sweeter. He just smiles all day long and never cries or fusses. I can't even believe what a dreamy little nugget he is.
