Lots of things happening in 2020! I’m planning to potty train L either this month or next, taking a couple trips, preparing for DS to start kindergarten in the fall, L will go to 2 morning/week preschool, going to run some races & get house projects done.
I hope everyone’s year is great!

That sounds absurd, to have a 3yo lol.
We are just KOKO. we decided to work on one part of sleep training at a time. So right now we are working on going to bed alone. Moving farther away from the bed every 3 nights. Last night was the first night I didn’t hold his hand and he cried for a few and then chilled out. 👍🏼
He has a nasty cough and bad fever all night so motn wake ups are a joke right now. Poor kid. We actually ran out of Advil motn. Ugh. Does anyone give anything for a cough? We tend to just stick to Tylenol and Advil but it’s so bad it wakes him up. Luckily his lungs sound clear so I’m just riding this out.
So tired at work today.

I mean they say you can use the Zarbees or just honey but that shit does absolutely nothing for my kids. All the typical advice (steam, humidifiers, honey) never works so I always have to ride it out too and basically cry for a week, lol. Is it Spring yet?! Its also really hard to sleep train in the midst of illness so don't even sweat that right now. Small steps sounds ideal!

Hi Friends, we just go back and forth with illness around here. I expect it will be this way until April 😑 Does anyone with two kiddos manage to keep one healthy when the other one is sick? LMK, thanks! D1 is constantly bringing something around and M ends up with it every.single.time. Its so exhausting! I need to get her sleep back on track but I'm too effing tired to deal with it. I yearn for Spring but also hate wishing the time away so I'd like to try and be more positive and not as negative but its hard when they are constantly sick all winter. Other goals: -Eat better -More sex -Less screen time for my kids -Less yelling -More self care

@dolly, exciting about the move but I hear you on making new friends. Where would you be going? Would you be relocating to another state or staying in CO?

@dolly , exciting about the move but I hear you on making new friends. Where would you be going? Would you be relocating to another state or staying in CO? Still in CO, about 1.5 hours away from where I am now. We thought MH would get this other position that would put us in our “forever” spot, but they said he didn’t have enough experience. So they offered a different city and it’ll be another stepping stone. We’ve been together 11 years and this will be our 7th move together across 5 states and 2 islands of Hawaii. We wanted to be done with the constant moves, but this really should help us get to that point. That is tough but what an amazing journey you guys have been on! I hope this is your "forever" spot and its even better than where you are now

addymac You have achieved with your two year old sleep training steps I haven't achieved with my five year old yet if it makes you feel better!! Lolol. He still wont fall asleep unless I am lying next to him and then I always fall asleep which kills productivity and makes it so dh and I have no adult time. I have given the kids honey for cough but it doesn't seem to help. I think on tried chamomile tea before too. We are trucking along. Three is hard logistically. We don't really have any family support in the area. Dh parents are 15 minutes away but aren't interested in the grandkids and mine are a flight away. Baby J is doing awesome; she's such a nice calm baby and sleeps. H is making some progress in speech therapy but is still behind. I was just thinking about potty training today but expect him to be harder to train than his brother.

We actually don’t want this to be our forever spot, but hopefully it’ll help us get there in the next couple years. And you’re right, it’s been an amazing journey and we’ve lived in some cool places. I’m just so ready to buy and house and settle down. One day! Is CO your forever spot? I hear ya, it will be nice to be grounded and settle down somewhere, especially as A gets older.

Ahh I did not respond to the goals:
I want to ride our peloton at least once a week. I want to work on our marriage. It’s not in the best place. Sigh. I want to work on eating healthier and saving money instead of eating out for breakfast lunch and dinner as often as I am. I want Noah to be more independent and be sleep trained before he turns 3. Lolsob. I want a dog (DH does not so this is a lofty goal lol) Use my phone less when I’m around other people. Get more sleep.
I’m just sitting in my car drinking some Prosecco before it’s time to go into my house. If I go inside before it’s time for our nanny to leave N will freak out if I try to hide in my room, so I’m sitting in the cold in the car drinking a mini bottle of Prosecco. This is my life 😂😭 I am also doing errands on my phone since I get WiFi from our place down here and have paid a few bills, caught up here and in the blinds thread, and am relaxing a bit. I hope no neighbors are paying close attention 😬😂😂

Only one sleeps through the night and J is resisting potty training. I hear it gets easier, I can't wait!

I have stopped at a coffee shop or bar on the way home near my house if I was early to just relax and pay bills online etc before going home on the rare days MH was home with the kids and not me.

2020 wtf? AMD 3 yearold? Hey guys you all rate among my longest parent friendships, so weird.
My main goal is for DH to get that I am not a stay at home mom but actually have a fulltime job that requires 50 hours a week. My long parental leaves set us up for this bad place we are in ironically.
Otherwise I need to get back into running for my sanity, pity train J and get some sleep.

addymac I love the drinking in the car, lol! It always semi freaks me out when I thought a car was empty and realize there was someone in it. Next time I'll consider maybe they were just decompressing and avoiding a clingy two year old! I didn't see the part about goals. Mine are to exercise and eat healthier, make more time each for dh and each kid (how?), Not walk around staring at my phone, and to set more realistic goals about getting stuff done around the house and not be so critical of myself.

Fuckity fuck, D1’s preschool sent home a letter today saying the church has decided to close them the end of this school year after 50 years 😢 I have no idea where I will send M now in September. It was like 2 minutes from my house, affordable and a couple days a week. The public town preschool is much more money ugh.

Sorry I haven't been around much ladies! I can't believe it's 2020 and I'll have a 5 and 3 year old this year.
Life is busy. E is so fun most of the time. She is very much a mommy's girl which is both great and very frustrating at times. We are starting to work on potty training but it's not going super amazing. It's hard with both of us working full time and daycare doesn't really do it. It would probably be easier in a center where all of the kids are doing it instead of our in-home.
2020 goals -potty train El -ger rid of the nuk (currently only for sleep and the car) -less screen time for the kids - a lot of house projects so spending less everywhere else

We’ve all been sick off and on for months. I’ve had a hard time sleeping due to constant coughing.
R is horrible in the car. My morning and evening commute are awful with her crying.
R hurt her foot at a McDonalds play area last night. She could hardly bear weight yesterday and is limping today. H wanted to take her to a pediatric urgent care this morning, but when we got there it was at least an hour wait - we left. I figured it would be worse having her around a bunch of sick kids and I think it’s just sprained.
I’m hoping to be able to work it so she can go to the Y preschool two days a week in the Fall. But, I don’t know if I can handle the stress of always running around. I’m barely keeping it together now.

Trying to keep up but its rough rightnow.
School is insane and im over it. We are looking to switch Js school. We visit another one thursday. I love that he is with me but i worryhe is going to gethurt. The women mostly sit in the back of the room on their phones which is worrisome. The new place is half the price but only 3 hours a day and not at my schoolbut he will be with all 2 year olds.
J was a mess yesterday. Yelling and screaming beforenap and bed forwver. No nap, tool an hour for bed. It was exhausting. Hes fine today though so who knows.

@dolly, They didn't say why in the initial letter but the church that the preschool is housed in sent a follow up letter saying they were having extreme financial challenges and didn't even know if they would be able to keep the church open. It sucks but I did a little research and there is a similar setup at a different church up the street so I'm hoping the price is comparable and we like it as much. They are having an open house in March so I will definitely go to that and 🤞

Speaking of some of our goals for less screen time, the last few days A would wake up asking for shows, ask a million times all day long and even when he went to bed. So we quit cold turkey on Monday. For reference, he’d get about 30 mins while eating lunch, and about an hour around dinner time. Maybe one or two days a week more than that. The constant asking drove me nuts. We’re on day 3 and it’s been considerably less asking. We’ll let him watch again in a few days, but I did need to break that daily routine. For some reason, M seems to not ask as much or even want it as much if i don't say no, lol. Frigin kids man. I also am a little more lenient about it when we are stuck in the house because winter and they are sick.

He’s already asked 20 times this morning. 😫 He’ll also ask for it while he’s watching it, so it much be some weird tick. He does the same with certain foods. Oh mannnn 😬 Kids can be......fun sometimes, lol...

Worst tantrum in awhile when I woke up and was like all done. The obsession is real. We had to go cold turkey with the iPad and shows after his HFM stint and it was rough for a few days there after a week of constant screens.

I know he was sick with fever and cough last week. M ended up picking up whatever weird virus H had. I took H to Urgent care on New Year's day because her throat was a mess but she tested negative for strep and culture came back negative so must have been tonsillitis type viral thing. They both had zero cold symptoms but high fevers, Ugh.
