Taitai let me know if you figure out how teach a toddler not to get out of bed at night. DS2 wasn't sleeping great in the crib and it's actually easier to get him back to sleep in the bed. We are mostly resigned that we have terrible sleepers. I can't remember when DS1 finally started sleeping well but I'm looking forward to whenever DS2 figures is out. I doubt anyone here cares but our team is going to the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years! SUPER BIG DEAL IN OUR CITY!!!!

Guise! Look what lil fella did this morning while I was trying to work! I kept hearing him say "Mummy, I am drawing myself" Me: That's great! thinking he was drawing by himself He actually meant he was well....drawing on himself! Hopefully the markers are actually washable - it took a lot of scrubbing to make the ones on his hands fade away. PDQ **

CoachTsWife We’re rooting for the Chiefs too! All of us are big Packers fans...and watching the 49ers game was...painful. 😩 Also - knock on wood but DS2 has slept in his bed until 6:30am - not getting out at all last night, and only getting out one time to use the potty at 4am the night before. What I did, is basically was very firm with him MOTN earlier this week, explaining that when he gets out of bed, I will put him back in. I said it was dangerous to walk around in the dark all night. Every time he got out of bed, I picked him up (or led him back) and put him back in the bed. It was kind of a battle of wills, and I just didn’t give up. He cried and was upset, but eventually he just gave up and went to sleep in his toddler bed. I was really, really tired though. So, that’s what seems to have worked for us. Also - no accidents at all in his bed or MOTN since we started potty training like 10 days ago. I think I’m just really lucky on that one - he holds it all night, or he wakes up to tell me that he needs to go potty if necessary. We also haven’t had any daytime accidents for 2 days now. Phew.

Lovin' all the Chiefs love in here! 🏈💛❤🏈 Taitai DS2 is extremely difficult to reason with; bribes don't work. Giving him 2 acceptable options doesn't work. He's just very very stubborn and hard-headed. The only thing that works when he isn't getting his way is distraction and it'll take lots of ideas before we find the right distraction from one day to the next. He's a really difficult child. Honestly I don't really care that he's getting up, I just want it not to take 30-60 minutes to get him settled back in bed. Sounds like your DS2 is doing great with PT! That's amazing!

I had my work review today and they are never good at this place.
Anyway, I am on vacation next week! H and I are going kid free to Charleston. We’ve never been, but I’ve schedule a food tour and haunted jail tour. I’m so excited.

CoachTsWife Your DS2 sounds just like my DS1....who will be 5 in March and continues to wake up 1-2 times MOTN and not stay in his bed. Sigh. He is very strong willed and has always been that way. Now that we got DS1 his new Sundvik bed from ikea, his wake ups are really short-lived at least. He just goes potty or drinks some water and is then asleep within 5 min. I think he feels more cozy/secure in his new bed, so it easier for him to fall asleep. But man - I haven’t gotten a straight 8 hours of sleep in like....forever. I feel your pain.

DS has done great with the toddler bed transition, wahoo! I have a 5 day period with minimal commitments blocked off on my calendar in a couple weeks once we get back from Hawaii to try potty training. He also got his first real hair cut this week and looks so grown up 😢 Where has my baby gone 😭?!?

curmudgeon “like” was for the kid free vacay! Work reviews suck in the teaching field. Kids are unpredictable at best but heaven forbid someone daydream or appear anything less than enthralled during a 45 minute lesson when an administrator is in the room 😑🤦♀️ duskymonkey he is adorable and that is hilarious. 😍😂 doodlemommy I would not say no to your breakfast “cookies” or your Hawaii trip. I’ll even attempt to potty train your LO if you bring me along! It’s like 17° F here so I am definitely dreaming warm sunshine

DD2 likes to request songs for me to sing while we rock before bed.
Current playlist includes exactly 2 things: Away in a Manager and Baby Shark. Over and over.
I would say no but it makes her so happy and content to cuddle and go to sleep when I do put her in the crib. But Baby Shark especially makes it hard to sing as a lullaby (and heaven forbid you try to skip a verse!)

My mom is staying at my house this week to watch the boys and my dogs. She is fretting. She did this back in July and my dad comes to help, but doesn’t stay the night. I’m trying to make it easier by stocking my pantry, writing out a detailed schedule, and listing out lunches for DS1. She told me not to pre-cook any meals for them. So 🤷🏻♀️

curmudgeon Have fun on your Charleston trip! I’ve always wanted to visit, and I heard the food is so good. Let us know which things you liked the most! A haunted tour also sounds very fun. doodlemommy I’m also jealous of your Hawaii trip. I love it there so much. Are you doing Maui, O’ahu, Kuai, Big Island? Eat all the tasty things for me - esp açaí bowls from Island Vintage Coffee. I love those - it’s the type of granola and honey they use that does it for me.

CoachTsWife both my boys sounds like your DS2. They make a formidable duo and I’m exhausted coming up with new ways and methods to make them listen. doodlemommy yes! How are we here, I remember when we were all fretting about unswaddling what seems like a blink of an eye ago and now it’s uncribbing and potty training 😭 Hawaii sounds so so great for you to get out of the deep freeze. curmudgeon you must tell us all about your trip! Food yaaass! I’m intrigued by your ghost tour too. danvers I’m mildly jealous you get to rock dd2 to sleep. Lil fella won’t even let me cuddle him anymore. All I get is please let me go! LET ME GO! He also tells me to be quiet when I start singing because he wants to sing 🤷🏻♀️ 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Yeah....these are my boys...driving me to drink.

Today we celebrated the lunar new year by going to a sub par dim sum joint. It was just ok but im a hard critic since I’ve been exposed to stellar dim sum my whole life 🤷🏻♀️ Anyways it was great for the kids to try different foods ( they mostly ate the Kailan aka Chinese broccoli - My boys are strange) and we didn’t have to drive all the way south of the city and honestly I th8nk it was just a good as the ones there which doesn’t say much...there really aren’t any good dim sum joints out here. Anyways bonus to not have to deal with city traffic which I swear has gotten so much worse and makes me glad I no longer commute there anymore. Tomorrow I’m going to make a noodle dish with shrimp and DS asked for dumplings eventhough we had them at dim sum but he said he wanted the ones I make 🤷🏻♀️ And if lil fella naps, I’ll make the glutinous rice balls in a ginger coconut sugar syrup. DS liked them last year.

Taitai I cannot fathom you’ve basically all done with PT! That’s like seriously incredible 👏 Whoop! Way to go Lil taitai, makes it easier for mom and dad to take you to explore the world although lots of pee stops. I remember with DS, I practically know all the bathrooms we can stop at between our house and usual errand runs.

May the year of the rat bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to you and your family! 🎉 🐀 🎊 Yes - I’m super paranoid about anywhere we go now, wanting to make sure I know where the bathrooms are! He’s done an amazing job, and I don’t want to hurt his confidence by having him stranded and having to go!

And bake at 350 for 10-15 min depending on size. I also added vanilla and a tiny bit of maple syrup

It’s been the long weekend of little sleep here. I was up till midnight Friday packing and double checking it all for our Robotics tournament than you at 5 for the all day competition. I did get a nap Sunday After a very early 6am wake up from the girls but Monday just got here too quick and I could really use some more Zzzzzzs 😴
I really want to cut back on the caffeine but either the kids aren’t sleeping or I’m having to work late and early and it’s hard to function without it right now ... 🤷♀️

danvers I think it’s awesome you coach for the robotics club! I can see that being something DS1 would be interested in some day. I am sure it is tiring though - so what you have to do to get through! Also, I think DS2 is totally potty trained. Still not one accident in bed - for 3 weeks now. He is wearing undies, no accidents at school, and we’ve been totally accident free for like 4 days. He was having some pee dribbles and half pooped in his pants last week, but he’s been really consistent about telling us. Phew! DS1 and DS2 are both in their own Sundvik IKEA beds, and DS2 has been sleeping alllllllll night. He wakes up around. 5:30 or 6am to pee in his little potty (I help him for that), and then often goes back in bed to sleep until 6:30am. Big fan of the Sundvik - it’s so cozy! So that’s the good news. Now we just have to avoid all the coronavirus stuff, and it will be a nice way to wrap up January!

Nothing much new here, I’m finally through my haze of anxiety and depression so it’s nice to have energy and not be so sad, tired and angry all the time. After months of feeling this way, my head is clear and I’m thinking this is why people can accomplish so much! So my house is clean, I’m making proper meals, I’ve been following my exercise plan and it doesn’t feel like a 200lb monkey is hanging off me and dragging me down over every decision. I’m off today so I’m taking DD2 to parent and tot swimming shortly. Then we are going to hang out and I will probably nap with her. duskymonkey Happy new year! Taitai Do you guys have any more confirmed cases of Corona virus or just the 1? I think as long as you maintain proper cold/flu/hygiene protocols you should be ok. I was told you have to be in super close contact to contract.

doodlemommy thanks so much for the recipe. I will have to try and gives me an idea. I used to make granola bars and I could mod my recipe to make them into cookies. What a fab idea, thanks so much. danvers...how many kids are in your team and keep us updated on their progress and yours too! Sounds really exciting but tiring for you and as mom's we're already overtiming it, add work on top and OT just makes it insane. Taitai that is totally amazing and a huge milestone plus sleeping in his own bed and all night! Did you already put the boys in the same room? The Coronavirus is certainly scary and I think with so much air travel it really doesn't matter where you are unless you're away and basically isolated. Still, stay safe. I admit I am a little worried hubs has a lot of traveling for work next month and will be in and out of major airports.

August Blooms big big hugs. you have incredible strength to be able to get through all you have the last few months and still hold it together for the family. I am also glad you've been posting here during that time and that you're getting out of the fog and so much weight off your shoulders. Hope it will get better from here on out and the rat year will be a good year for you.

Been busy here and I had to enlist help to work on my project. It's really impossible for me to accomplish work up to par with my own expectations and I just cannot bring myself to deliver them to clients when I know I can do it better. I have to rethink how to do this without losing my mind. Working up to 1-2am is just not sustainable and I am exhausted. Also hubs will be gone for work for a bit next month and I would be going insane dealing with the kids and working at the same time. Meh. How in the world do you all working moms do it. On a happy note. I love how both the boys are interacting with each other now. It helps a lot that lil fella communicates well. Just this weekend, as I was putting laundry away, both the boys were playing hide and seek and they were in the closet and having a conversation about monsters and giggling away. DS: How many legs do monsters have lill fella: 2 DS: Noooo.....monsters have a million legs DS: How many eyes do monsters have lil fella: 2 DS: Noooo....they have 3 eyes! and one is on their butt! Both kids: hehehehehhehe! I wish I recorded it...it really was so funny and endearing to hear them. Tell me what are your 2 year olds doing now that is endearing.
