We took the carseats out of the minivan and are attempting to clean it ourselves this weekend since we have no where to be. It’s disgusting. The seats are gross so I’m hoping my Pinterest DIY cleaning hacks will do the trick so we don’t end spending $$$$ to detail it.
We will probably turn DD2 to face forward since the seats are out now. I’m prepared for flames 🔥 but you all are too nice of people too 😏
Big weekend plans here as you can see 😂

As soon as DS2 woke up this morning he leaned so far over the crib rail he fell out and busted his lip. He’s climbed out once before so H converted the crib to a toddler bed. 😭 I don’t think the night is going to go very well.

curmudgeon Sorry to hear about your little guy falling out! I hope the night went well for you all. The transition from them not being contained in the crib is always eeeeeek! My DS2 was walking around last night again at 11pm., but I got him back in his toddler bed by midnight and he slept there until 6:10am. danvers We turned DS1 FF around 2.5, so no flames for me. He had such bad car sickness, and turning him forward really, really helped. No flames from me - isn’t the law in most states rear facing until 2 anyways?

Potty training continues to go well - DS2 didn’t have any accidents overnight and told me he had to go to the potty when he woke up at 6:10am. Success on that front. We’re doing shorts commando today, and so far we’ve had like 7-8 pees in the potty. One accident, but it was right before nap time, and I think he was too tired/distracted to tell us. Hoping the rest of today goes okay 🤞🤞

well, H ended up turning the bed so the open side is against the wall. So nighttime went about as usual. I turned it back this morning and now is the real test. Nap time.

He got out 3 times with H putting him back to bed. I did it the last time and he’s been in there quiet for 10 min...I’m waiting for another 10 til I gloat to H.

This is like us - when I put DS2 down, he stays asleep/in bed much longer than when DH puts him down. I think H doesn’t wait long enough to make sure DS2 is really asleep and secure in the bed before he leaves. Last night, DH put DS2 to bed, and the little guy was up an hour later walking around and asking for mama. I went in and it took about 45 min to get him back down...and then he slept in his toddler bed until 5am, when he woke up and told me he had to go potty. Soooooo...I think I’ll be doing bedtime for DS2 until we get on more solid footing with the toddler bed situation.

Taitai OMG! What a game changer and yay for DS2. I dream of the day we get to actually go out without a bag of stuff. We'll still have to carry the portable potty but the cleaning a poopy butt is huge! Also you and your H make unicorn children too! LOL!

Also... Lil fella is actually a Hobbit! He ate half a croissant and 2 mandarin oranges for breakfast 1.5 hrs ago and just ate 2 cheese slices and is now eating some of my oatmeal and working on his 2nd Fig bar. Oh also finished a 6oz bottle of milk. I guess he's feeling much better now.

Taitai how’s the potty training coming along (or how did it go?) duskymonkey DD2 doesn’t eat a second breakfast as much as she takes eleventy thousand minutes to just eat a meal. She has no problem coming back to grilled cheese that’s an hour old and taking bites. She is the slowest eater I have met! Just work stuff here. We were *supposed* to have an extended professional day for teachers after school. We met at another school for training and brought things to stay late, just as instructed by our principal. At 4:00 the other elementary’s principal dismissed us for the night and our current principal was ticked. 😳 We all just looked at her, like little kids, to see if we truly could leave and she had no choice but to dismiss us. 😂 watching power struggles between administrators never gets old to me

duskymonkey I despise Gwyneth Paltrow - she’s up there with Jenny McCarthy for her embrace and advocacy of bullshit, pseudo-science crap that actually can be harmful to people who follow her stupid advice. She’s the wooooooooorst. Glad to hear your little guy is feeling better! Hope the sickness stays away from your home for a good long while. danvers Potty training is going really well! No night time accidents yet (he pees before bed at like 7:45pm, and then wakes up around 6:15am and and tells me he has to go to the potty). We had one incident yesterday where he dribbled a bit before telling us, but then he ran to the potty and finished the job. On poop - he got about 1/2 his poop in the potty yesterday - he stood up too soon and then some more came out while we were trying to get the existing poop from the ikea potty into the big potty for flushing 😩. Omg - yuck!!!! I was internally screaming as I saw the additional poo come out of him while he was walking excitedly to the bathroom 😱. We have to work on making sure he sits and totally finishes when it comes to #2. That’s only happened once though (other time all of his poop got in) so I’m hopeful we get success today! Oh - and we’ve had 2 car rides and one morning at school with no accidents either - so yay for that!

January is a super busy time at work and thank goodness H no longer coaches b-ball so he can pick up some slack at home . I coach a robotics team that meets in the fall/winter but competes in January. I also coach our math team and we start practicing in January. I really, really love mentoring kids outside of school but I am also very tired all the time.
Much caffeine needed right now.

Our lives calm down considerably in January. Football is over-over (ends in Nov but there's carryover for the coaches wrapping up the season), Christmas is over, and we just coast for a while. I have to enjoy it because everything gets crazy again starting in May and builds all summer and culminates in August. For now I breathe.
I don't know if I've mentioned it much here but I have a type of autoimmune arthritis that affects my spine and peripheral joints like hands and feet/ankles. I used to work out a TON and play volleyball several nights a week. That all came to an abrupt halt in 2012 when I was diagnosed and in incredible pain. Well I've been feeling pretty well for a few months, have decreased my meds, etc., and finally done with pregnancies and breastfeeding. I started working out on January 6 and it is going really well so far. I was terribly afraid I'd flare but so far so good - though I am being extremely careful and making modifications when necessary. And now my town's Park & Rec dept just announced they are starting an adult coed volleyball league and I'm dying to sign up. I haven't played since 2012 and I seriously love the sport so much. I coached several different teams and played on various competitive teams in the area back then. It feels too good to be true that I might be able to play again, but I'm cautiously optimistic that I might set foot back on the court soon if I keep doing well with my workouts.

We are in the middle of a deep freeze over here. Like temps of down to -50c (with windchill factored in) this whole week. Of course I have a super busy week and keep having to go out with my kids which suucccks. My baby is going through a leap and will not nap unless I’m holding him. And DS just climbed out of his crib during his nap today for the first time. We were planning on making it into a toddler bed this week anyhow but now we have to do that tonight. Ugh. Currently sitting far enough away from the bedrooms that I cannot hear the baby screaming because I need a short mental health break before I try to get him down again

CoachTsWife I’m so happy that you’ve been able to get back in to working out, and that your autoimmune disease has kept in check! I really hope the parks and rec league works out - you deserve to have a great year after everything you’ve been through the past few. doodlemommy -50 C ?!? 😱😱😱 That’s crazy awful. I hope the weather warms up soon, and that things start to go more smoothly at home too. The newborn stage is so hard sometimes, and with 2 other kids to boot - please make sure to take time for yourself. Sorry to hear about your middle kid climbing out of the crib too. If it’s any consolation, we’ll our transition to the toddler bed has gone pretty well. I think after 1 week, we’re almost back to normal on DS2’s sleep habits. Hang in there!

One week of potty training - and things are going really well! No overnight accidents so far, no accidents at school, and only 2 little dribbles of pee outside the potty in the last 4 days....followed by a run to the potty to take care of business. We’ve brought back most of the area/play rugs, and I’m thinking DS2 will be ready for undies next week (he’s been going commando the past 6 days). The no more diapers in our house thing is becoming a reality and I’m excited about it!

DS climbed out of the crib and came into my room this morning with a full outfit picked out and asking me to change his diaper. It was adorable but obviously not the safest. We just didn’t have time last night to take the crib rail off so DH was going to do it today. Thanks Taitai I am getting a massage this afternoon which will be so nice. Thankfully the baby sleeps great at night (we co sleep with him in our bed at night) so at least we have that going for us

doodlemommy Good luck with the transition! I hope some warmer weather is on the way today has been our coldest day so far this winter and it’s not even close to what you guys are experiencing. Taitai Wow, I’m jealous of your success PTing. We are having a snowstorm tomorrow so I think we may give it a try this weekend. I can’t believe no overnight accidents. My almost 5 year old is still not night time trained. CoachTsWife Do it! Playing on a team is so great for so many reasons!

Nap time went well in the toddler bed! He even listened to my instructions and asked to get out when he woke up! DD is 5 and still won’t get up without asking so I’m hoping to get him to do the same. Bedtime went well so fingers crossed he remembers what to do in the morning and sleeps well! He was pretty proud of his big boy bed

danvers we turned DS around FF about a month ago. Our pedi's assurance helped us make the decision. He hasn't gotten sick since he's FF so here we are. Also I am so excited for your OT coaching endeavor. I would love it if DS would eventually get into robotics. Just last night he told me he wanted to be an artist when he grew up and be as good a Van Gogh or Paul Klee and I was thinking No... Just No...unless he's as successful like Damien Hirst. Anyways he's still tiny so it doesn't mean anything hah! Taitai that is so incredible you're like basically done with PT! You've left us in the dust now. LOL! CoachTsWife I was thinking of you. How is your H recovery going. I remember you mentioning about your health and I am so glad to hear it's under control. I think being pregnant stressed the body and it take a while to recover. I was hoping some of my arthritic symptoms would subside like the last time with DS but unfortunately it hasn't really gone away, maybe for me it's just an actual cause due to age and not so much pregnancy this time. doodlemommy...so much going on for you now. Also it was too cute reading about DS bringing you an outfit. We are thankfully still cribbing! He did climb out of his PnP a few weeks ago during nap and crashed. I think it freaked him out and he hasn't tried it since so we're good for a bit yet I hope. Brrr...to -50. That's intense. I've been using the kids warming stuffies and placing them on their car seats before we go anywhere and covering it with blankets and it gets the seats nice and toasty for them! so bonus for those stuffies. I actually want one now for myself lol!

doodlemommy Awesome news about the toddler bed working out! I wish my kids would stay in their beds - DS1 has no qualms about waking up MOTN and then coming to stand by the side of our bed to wake us up (and often freak us out/startle us). DS2 is better though - he at least just kind of walks around in his room calling out for me. We’ve been finding that some nights DS2 will go from 7:45pm - 5:45/6am in his toddler bed, but then like every 2-3 nights, he wakes up around 10 or 11pm, and it takes me like an hour to get him back down into his bed. Sigh. I hope those 10/11pm hour wake ups stop soon! August Blooms I’ve been extremely lucky about both DS1 and DS2 training themselves overnight. DS1 has like 4-5 pee accidents in his bed when we potty trained him, and he hasn’t peed the bed since. DS2 hasn’t peed the bed once, and I’m hoping it stays that way. One thing we do is to have them drink a full cup of water/milk after they eat their dinner, before they can go down to play. That gets them hydrated, and they will pee it out before bedtime. Then, we limit water to just sips before bed - no drinks MOTN. It’s worked for us - but I do think it might also be a every kid is different thing. duskymonkey I’m glad that FF has helped your little guy stop getting sick! I think that you have to do what’s best for your kid, and I think you made the right decision.

duskymonkey he's doing well. He still has "drop foot" where he can't lift/flex his foot up. He's seen tiny improvements but still has to lift his leg when walking so he doesn't trip on his foot. PT is helping with the pain he has from compensating for the foot. My arthritis went into remission during both pregnancies but I flared 6 months PP and 3 months PP respectively. I've felt pretty good for the past 3-4 months and I'm trying to enjoy it and work on getting into better shape and strengthening my muscles. I had some knee trouble for several months and I was worried it was osteoarthritis. I still don't know the root cause but it's better now, so 🤷♀️.

H and I took both girls to see Frozen 2 tonight ( this is like time #3 for DD1 😂 ) at our local theater. DD2 loved it and sat by herself the entire time enthralled. She loves “Elsa Anna” maybe even more than DD1 right now.

Well the crib rail is back up and we are hoping for no more tumbles. That didn’t last long.
H has been working late a lot at his 2nd “job” and is gone again tonight. He got some exciting news this week regarding that and I’m super happy and nervous for him. He also got a raise at his day job, which is good because it seems like everything at home is breaking at once. 😭

Bummer about the PT, but try not to get discouraged. I remember one part of a book I read said that there’s this window when kids are ready to do it, and if you can hit that window, the whole process works so much better. At least you tried and better to not force things - I am sure she’ll do it when she’s ready!

Today was like 3 steps backwards on everything. DS2 has 2 little pee dribbles in his pants before he could get to the potty (which was fine - he’s learning), but then while DH was watching him, DS2 said he had to go potty, and then proceeded to IMMEDIATELY poop in his pants 😩😩
Then DS2 kept spitting out all his food at dinner, and just being really naughty about not wanting to eat anything.
DS2 also woke up at 4am and wouldn’t go back in his toddler bed - he kept getting out and wanting me to hold him, so I need to figure out how to teach him that he can’t leave his bed at night. I’m so tired. 😴

It’s 1:00sm and I’m just rocking a very unhappy toddler. We can’t find anything “wrong” with her other than she really seems to want Mommy. She’s a great sleeper normally so it’s rare she needs midnight rocks and cuddles. I’m telling myself these days are numbered and just HIHing while she fitfully sleeps on my chest.
Will need some caffeine tomorrow though!
