Good luck with your thyroid removal @starzia! I hope you can rest and recover adequately (lolsob) that sounds really lovely that your DH did they for you.
We had an OT Eval today for N because his speech therapist recommended it to help with his sleep issues. I’m kind of eye rolly about it because she keeps pushing all the therapies on him (so $$$) but also I know they can’t hurt so I’m like ooooookay. He said he’s doing great in every area except attention and his hyper focus on playing with cars and it relates to his inability to shift to play with kids unless it’s with cars etc.and how we can change that and how his hyper focus is related to a sensory seeking behavior. Idk it’s hard to explain bc I feel like I don’t even fully understand it.. But he said we could either change it on our own or with an OT, and I’m like feeling lost so aside from being told he has too many cars and we need to get rid of 99% of them lol, I said we could just have a few sessions with an OT to help us understand how to help him work on his attention issues. The OT did tell me to chill out about worrying over him being diagnosed with something lol. 🤷🏻♀️ Idk it’s weird. A weird feeling but also if this can help him not be so obsessed with cars and let’s him focus when we take him to classes and play dates then I am all in.

@starzia, GL with your surgery and what a perfect surprise from YH. I get what you are saying about already worn out, I swear us moms needs a solid week of just no one needing a damn thing! addymac, I don't blame you for being confused, I was really confused with the OT's diagnosis too, lol. I didn't remember this thing about N and cars or maybe you hadn't mentioned it. I guess it couldn't hurt to work with them directly and see if it helps. If it doesn't, then move on and try some other home techniques. I don't remember but did you attempt sleep training at all with him or no because I think your hubby wasn't on board yet? I can't remember a damn thing lately! |

D1 has been an emotional wreck off and on for what feels like months lately. I have no idea what is going on with her and if I need to have her evaluated or its just a stage or what.
We were referred to pulmonology after last week's debacle with M and that appointment wasn't going to be until February but they called me last friday and had an opening for today so hooray! I'm curious to see what they have to say

@starzia Yay for using the potty! DS just stopped requesting my presence in the bathroom when he turned 5, so I hope that happens sooner for you! Good luck with the thyroid surgery- may you get some rest & recovery out of it. addymac That’s interesting about the OT eval. This stage is such a guessing game- I’m constantly worrying about my kids behaviors and what is normal vs a potential issue. I’m all for professionals helping when they can though! jt2378 I hope the pulmonologist Appt went well! |

Today was DS’ last day of PreK until Jan 6... and guys- I’m not going to make it. They have been fighting and acting ridiculous since we ate lunch. I feel like I have yelled more today than any day of parenting yet. I’m ready to hide in a closet with a drink.
I’m also hosting our family Christmas events- the house is a mess, I’m not done getting gifts and have no idea what to cook for all the days people are staying here. Stupid holiday stress is not helping my patience levels.

jt2378 I’m sorry D1 has been so tough lately. I hope it’s just a phase that ends soon. We were doing sleep training with N (DH FINALLY started to move past step 2 of the gradual extinction method 🙄) but my parents came and he was ending up in our bed every night anyway so I said fuck it and let my parents sleep on the futon in his room and we’ve been putting him to bed in our room every night. He has STTN every night for the last week, it’s kind of amazing. I’m ready to give up and just let him sleep with us. Except we still have to lay w him to get him to fall asleep and that I do not want to keep doing. So, we will see.

pennylane oh god I’m sorry. That sounds tough. That’s a long time to be home with both nonstop. Are there activities or day trips you can do to mix it up a bit? I know it’s so hard, most of our usual go to winter play spaces are closed for at least a week and I’m like WTF DO I DO WITH HIM?!

M is pooping on the potty. Achievement unlocked ! Now how long until she doesn’t need me in the room? Sleep training C this week. Feels like no breaks at all lately all my days off are full of stuff to do. DH gave me Saturday night/ Sunday off. I was home but completely checked out. Drinking wine he did all MOTN things, woke up with kids. Took them out of the house let me sleep in. Made me something to eat. It was really nice, he’s never done something like that before and I really needed it. But I already feel worn out again. I’m getting half my thyroid out Wednesday. And I’m just exited to sleep for 4 hours in the middle of the day. I’m Just kidding. But it’s more resting and break I hope I hearyou on being busy all the time. Im exhausted. Im either at work or at home playing with J |

We had snow days fridayand monday which made a long 4 day weekend. J had diarrhea so badly monday. 8 diaper changes before noon.
I was exhausted by monday after 4 days home. I dont know how we are going to make 12 days over christmas.
I did get baking, wrapping, and laundry done with my snow days so thats something.
J is in the he likea to throw everything phase which is exhausting right now. Due to the ice we have 2 trees down in our yard, one just scraped the house, thankfully did no damage.

J has been snottu and coughing. We hot the food, started homeand he threw upall over himself, thecar, and me. What a mess. Hes been cranky all damn day.
My dad dressed up as santaand J reallyenjoyed it so that was good.

Dh and I are going to be Mary and Joseph in our Church's Christmas Eve service with baby J as Jesus and ds1 as a Wiseman (which he already did for his preschool nativity). H is going to be a cow, but I've already warned our pastor that he's a flight risk. He also hates wearing costumes, so I fully expect him to run half dressed through the sanctuary in the middle of the service.
For some reason, he's also taken to trying to color his nose with markers. Yesterday, he climbed an easel and our piano to get to the top of a bookshelf where his brother's spirograph Jr markers (not washable!!!) Are. He then colored his nose blue right before church. He was very proud of himself.

Merry Christmas ladies! J opened up 2 trucksand was done then played with them all morning. We are halfway to my brothers now and J is car napping. He still has a wicked coughand now i have it too. This morning he had wheels on the bus on and said 7 of the words with the song whoch is huge for him! He was very proud of himself too whichwas cute.
