I remember as a kid very carefully unwrapping gifts under the tree to see what they were and then wrapping them back up. Lol!

DD had her first day at daycare today. She was a little confused, but her brothers were thrilled she now goes to school with them!

Right? I have a 2 year old tyrant who would give no fucks and open everything 😂 I have zero gifts under the tree Mine are 3 & 6 and have no self control. Mine are 4 and 8 and have never touched a present under the tree. They're just excited to see them there. We don't spend Christmas at home. Santa comes to our hotel room, no tree. There's a tree at my inlaws, but it had their presents underneath. So if I didn't put presents under our tree, my kids wouldn't get the experience at all.

Ds is approaching Christmas with an adorable super logical kid view and I love it.
“I don’t think we have a chimney. So if we don’t have a chimney and fireplace.....*long pause* Santa can just come through the door! We have three doors to help him.”
“If Santa is going to eat our cookies he can sit over there. He needs to sit at the dinner table and eat cookies.”
I’m glad he’s coming up with these solutions himself. I’m not sure if he would 100% buy into Santa magic.

MH took DD to the Yankee Candle Headquarters yesterday while I was at work. Since he can't say no to her she came home with and enormous, very expensive (for me) dinosaur and a bunch of other dinosaur things. I may have set him on fire with the look I gave. I swear if that undermines the dinosaurs Santa brings tomorrow I'll lose my shit. I've been waiting since prime day to give them to her!!

sheilathetank I would not like that either. However based on how much your daughter loves them I don't think you have to worry about Santa's gifts.

It’s past midnight and I’m having serious doubts about my kid’s big present. Why didn’t I just get him something train-related? Oof.

It will be fine piratecat. Lakes my kid said yesterday that we should not make a fire in the fireplace because Santa might burn his butt. I laughed. also we have never actually lit a fire in the fireplace.

He was mildly interested. We also got him slippers and a conductor’s hat that he loves but he also loves ice cream scoop.

Morning! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. We are about 1/3 of the way through with gifts. My son keeps wanting to play with whatever he just opened so we are spreading out the gifts. Homemade cinnamon rolls are in the oven. Just having a relaxing day today.

Dd’s favorite is her new rain jacket because it’s yellow and “YELLOW IS MY FAVORITE!” 😂 The little kid digital cameras are a huge hit with both of them too.

She was so miserable, but I swear 12 hours after the steroid shot she was like a whole new kid. Not 100% but markably improved. What time is your c section? Hope it goes smoothly and you've got baby in your arms soon.

My in laws are here and Mh took the babe downstairs, so I’m drinking my coffee in peace while I can hear M run in circles. poof

We’ve been at the IL’s and while my kid loves his grandparents I think he gets overwhelmed/stressed when the house is full with cousins and aunts and uncles and he is grumpy and tantrum-y and sleeping terribly and just generally a mess. He’s breaking my spirit and making me question what I’m doing wrong. I know that there is a lot going on and I know every kid is different but it’s hard when there are two other toddlers here seemingly doing just fine. He’s also in daycare full time so it’s not like he’s not used to being around other kids. Like he loves ice cream and was so excited about having it after dinner last night and then when the ice cream came out he just broke down and I spent half an hour trying to figure out what kind of ice cream he wanted. It feels like this is a familiar pattern at all holidays - will it ever end? What does my kid need from me for all of us to get through this better?

Most of his meltdowns are in the form of not being able to make up his mind. Like he said he wanted vanilla ice cream in a bowl and then when I give it to him he breaks down crying that he doesn’t want it. And then it’s 20 minutes of wanting it/not wanting it. Or him asking for milk and the same thing.
