DS2 has turned into such a stubborn kid!! He's way more work than DS1 was at this age! The faces he makes when you tell him not to do something are hilarious though.

Haha dd2 has also become very stubborn and screams a lot. She's definitely starting to test the limits and will laugh or smile and look at me when I tell her no.

What is everyone getting for their LOs for Christmas? We don't really do too many presents but I'm struggling with what to have "Santa" get dd2 because I feel like we already have a lot from dd1.

I have no idea but it won't be much. DS2 doesn't want to play with anything age appropriate, he just wants to play with DS1's stuff anyway so he really doesn't need anything. I did buy them matching Harry Potter PJs so he'll have those to open at least but we won't be buying much else.

Dd2 can now open doors 😬 let the fun begin! Oh no!!! We still have knob covers on most doors from DS1, except the bathroom which we took off when he potty trained. I'm not looking forward to having to put them back on because that means we need to teach DS1 how to use them. But I also don't want DS2 having free reign of the bathrooms so we can't just leave them off.

I'm also struggling with Christmas gift ideas this year. We have so much stuff already and same with DD just wanting to play with DS's toys. I did pick up one of those Scoop and Learn Ice Cream Carts on sale a few weeks ago. It's "for" DD but I know DS will play with it too.

Dd2 can now open doors 😬 let the fun begin! Oh no. That does not sound fun! DS learned how to open lever style door knobs at 15 months. Thankfully it took him quite a while longer to figure out the knob style, which is what we have at home. So far, DD hasn't been trying🤞🏻

I got dds an ice cream cart for their birthdays and do far dd1 has been playing with it the most but dd2 is starting to figure it out and she thinks it's hilarious to pretend to eat the ice cream. I got the girls a cash register for Christmas and I know it'll mostly be for dd1 at this point but if I say it's just for her she'll never want to share it 😣

They're kind of cumbersome (it basically makes it so you have to lift the lever up to open it instead of push it down. my BFF has them because her little guy figured out the levers super quick and was wreaking havoc

C has been singing all the time and it's so darn cute. He doesn't sing any words, just Ahhhh-ahhhh, but he's got decent pitch! The other night he was singing along with christmas music playing at Home Depot.

Happy December! I haven’t checked in for a while. Things have been exhausting with the commuting my daughter to school everyday but I’m really trying to push through it. Still no luck with finding work that fits my family. So it’s like I’m living out of my car every day while we wait around the city until my daughter is done with school. DS is doing great but I’m starting to think that he may possibly be a sensory seeker. I’ve been trying to research a bunch and look into evaluations. It could be nothing but it’s beginning to be a problem so I want to do what I can early.
Their dad and I have been getting a long much better in the past few months. He’s surprisingly in recovery and been sober for over 60 days now. This has made it a million times easier to co-parent.
The holidays are a little rough since it’s our first out of our own home and my daughter is struggling with things being so different. Hoping the new year will bring better things!

That sounds adorable Dramaphile! Sometimes I'm convinced DS2 is trying to sing the Game of Thrones theme (we play it a lot in our house) but I'm not positive that's actually what's happening yet. 60 days is an awesome start for the kids' dad pixiepink24! I hope he keeps up with it for the sake of the kids and that's great it's making co-parenting easier. Change can be hard but I have no doubt you'll make the holidays wonderful for your kids. I hope you find work that works with your family soon and good luck if you end up pursuing an evaluation for your DS.

brenna you had your DD evaluated for speech, right? I'm wondering when/if I should be concerned with C's speech. He's 13, almost 14 months, and has said a couple of words, but not really consistently (Dada and Ah-Dah for All Done), and can sign "all done" and "more" (clearly food is a priority for him). He doesn't babble a ton and most of his communication is just saying "Ahh" in various forms. He definitely has receptive language and is super social and funny and sings along to music and gestures so I'm not concerned about his hearing. I honestly can't remember when DD started talking, but I think it was earlier (although she's always been a verbally advanced kid). It's so hard not to compare them! Oh, and he finally started walking more than a few steps this weekend, he was doing a couple of steps at a time for about two weeks and now he's walking across the room pretty well, although still crawling a lot.

She definitely doesn't talk as much as dd1 did at this age but I've heard that's very common for second children. Do you have a 15 month appointment for him?

Dh and I are in Kauai right now and it's been so nice to have a break from the girls and just focus on us and what we want to do. The grandparents have been spoiling the heck out of the girls and I know when we get back we'll need to do some bootcamp to get them back on a schedule. It's so worth it though!

I figure this is my last year I can get away with gifting like.

We did/do speech therapy with my 4 year old. He qualified at 15 months because he had 0 words, if he had had even 2 we wouldn't have. (at least thats what we were told)

I've dropped to one pump session a day at work in preparation for stopping completely when I come back to work after the Holidays so I'm sure that did it for me.

We have so many dang toys (even more since his birthday) and people keep asking what he wants and I keep saying clothes because I don't know what else he could possibly need. I'll probably wrap up a pair of shoes and maybe one of those musical tables? Or hell, we'll just get him his own remote control since he's obsessed with ours...

I ended up getting a lot of our gifts this year off of a buy nothing page and a local parent exchange, second hand. I got a few stacking toys and cars. He loves all types of transportation vehicles these days. Also got a second hand little tikes basket ball hoop, EZpeez place mat plate and new Replay cup since we lost his. We’ve been house sitting for the family that I used to nanny and they have one of those cool learning towers that kids can climb up safely and help at the counter. DS is loving it! I’d suggest that as a gift if anyone has the extra money or time.
