danvers your DD2 sounds just like my DS2 was last week. He was diagnosed with bronchitis and an ear infection. Amoxicillin and 2 different meds in the nebulizer has done wonders for him. And Zarbees cough medicine. So much cough medicine. I hope you and your H (and DD1 of course!) stay well. I ended up getting sick late last week and finally went to the dr on Tuesday, to which I found out I also have bronchitis and well as a sinus infection. Not shocking considering how much he coughed in my face last week. Fun times! Taitai enjoy the snow! My FIL (and MIL) spent over around 36 hours in two different ERs. He finally got a room last night and we just heard that the MRI results show no signs of stroke so they've ruled everything else out and are sticking with the amnesia. I believe that his memory has fully returned (although I'm not sure he remembers the morning the episode started, but all the events of the past year he couldn't recall he now remembers). MIL says he's doing great and is getting released asap. Thank Heavens!

DD2 is negative for flu and strep and seems to just have a really, really bad viral infection. Fever, terrible cough, zero appetite but occasionally in really good spirits so we are to continue with rest, fluids, and Tylenol as needed. Taitai her bloodwork came back with everything in the average to low-average range. The specialist concluded she’s just a kid who gets sick a lot, possibly and probably due to getting meningitis so soon after birth, and it could take years to rebuild her immunity to where it needs to be to fight off all these infections better.

I tried out the ginger molasses cookie recipe and it seems to be a favorite around here. H is eating them nonstop and MiL asked for the recipe and made her own batch. H is going to a friends to watch the Texans play so I made more this morning for him to take along. He took DS1 with him so as soon as the toddler goes down for a nap I’m knocking out the rest of the wrapping. I also made sugar cookies for DS1 to decorate. He worked so hard on his decorations. Yum! I made a ginger molasses cookie once and it was good! Is yours chewy? I dunno what happened to the recipe I used. Wanna share? Also the sugar cookies your DS did looks great. I only let DS handle the sprinkles - not gonna lie, there was some tears between him and I this year, and I only allowed him to handle the sprinkles. He handled the sanding sugars much better this year though so there's hope yet for us to have a much more fun time and less stressful for me.

danvers CoachTsWife oh man! so much sickness. This time of year is so bad. Sending you all the wellness spirits your way. Not sure if you guys remember, DS got sick almost continually when he started PS a couple of years ago. I was so desperate I tried everything and finally got him on an Elderberry regimen. This is what we have currently settled on but may want to try this. It's for adults but DS (5) gets one a day and so far this year, he hasn't missed a single sick day from school and so far is holding out and lil fella is getting over croup. Also every time hubs and I feel a little off, we've been popping elderberry lozenges and with lil fella coughing into our faces the last several weeks, we're holding out too. We're considering getting on the Elderberry vitamins as well.

duskymonkey here is the recipe I used. www.crunchycreamysweet.com/chewy-ginger-molasses-cookies/I’ve made 3 batches so far because we keep eating them like crazy. Also, watching kids make messes usually is like nails on a chalkboard to me, but I pumped myself up about the decorating and laid down lots of paper towels and let him do it at the dining table since it’s easier for him to sit there. Bowls of icing and using baby spoons for it seemed easier than trying to pipe or squirt the icing.

We made it to my ILs yesterday in 1 piece! Lill fella is stirring from his short nap and will catch up later. I did manage to make this selection of cookies. The containers were full and another whole fruit cake is gone from the picture from giving them away Also I used white and dark chocolate this year on the sugar cookies which DS decorated - he was super heavy handed on the sprinkles!! but despite some tears, I think they turned out pretty well.

At one point after repeatedly telling him not to open the bottles and to just use the sprinkles I had put into bowls, he opened 1 and poured half of it out onto a cookie! OMG! I was like WTF dude. My mistake and should have kept the bottles out of sight!

I got sick but luckily no one else in the house is. Sore throat, lost my voice, body aches and exhausted. It’s the second time this week I called in sick and if my voice doesn’t come back I’ll have to call in again tomorrow. I have the sick time but hate using 3 days.
My sister in law sent a karaoke machine for the girls for Christmas. I’m not sure what I did to piss her off lol It came with a packing slip so I may take it back for store credit

August Blooms lol at the karaoke machine. Does she have kids? I'd be "returning the favor" with "fun" toys for her kids. duskymonkey we started the Zarbees Immune multivitamin gummies. They have elderberry in them. I'm hoping they'll help keep us well while being around lots of people the next couple weeks. 🤞

Last night we had a fun time outside roasting marshmallows and the kids ran around and played in the dark with a flashlight. They thought it was the best thing ever.
Today H is running last minute gift errands with DS1 while I entertain the toddler and clean the kids’ rooms. How do they get so gross? Especially the older one. Yuck.

Holiday Family Drama Ahead:
So apparently, to H and mine’s great surprise, Christmas with his parents and sister’s family was today?!!? No one told us they had changed the date (we were expecting to do it Christmas evening as planned a few weeks ago). FIL called this morning asking if we were still coming with the girls being kind of sick and we were very “coming to what?”. H is pissed because this is the kind of crap that happens all the time when SIL decides something doesn’t work *for her*. I guess it may now be Xmas evening again but unsure as H is still ticked so he hasn’t really talked to them today much.
**We wouldn’t have come anyway today because the girls still have terrible coughs and snotty noses (but no fevers finally!!!) and SIL has a 4 week old baby + three other kids.

danvers wow I can’t believe they didn’t tell you! Or make sure the timing worked for everyone before changing. We have holiday drama here and I’m basically boycotting seeing my brother and his family. Initially we were spending Christmas Day at my brothers along with my parents. Then SIL claims that my brother didn’t want anyone coming and would rather spend the day just them. Keep in mind we have never spent Christmas Day with them in 20 years - they always spend it with SIL’s family. Now they are coming to my parents after Christmas when H will be working. So I’m not going.

Currently sitting and waiting to get the oil changed on our minivan. H offered to take it in so I could spend time with the girls now that we are all on winter break. I don’t know if I could decline that offer faster than I did 😂
Sitting in the quiet and scrolling the internet...
Going to go to lunch at Chipotle...
Maybe stroll some stores for last minute stocking stuffers...
I’m pretty sure this is exactly how I want to spend my first days of winter break!

I went in to work this morning and left around 11. I put the boys in front of the tv and I’m avoiding parenting while waiting for H to get home from work. I would wrap the few gifts I have left but they are in his car. 🤦🏻♀️

Hello from the snowy land of Hokkaido, Japan. I’m currently sipping a hot green tea in bed and looking out the window at DS1 on the slopes in ski camp while DS2 naps in the other room. DH is out skiing. 🙌🙌
DS1 is doing really well in ski camp so far - I saw him ski down the little bunny hill and got a good video of it. He has fallen over, but so have a lot of the Japanese kids in his class.
DS2 is not a fan of the snow - he’s Southeast Asian on the inside lol. I hope to get him sledding this afternoon.
Here are some pics - PDQ. DS1 loves playing in the snow, and DS2 got to sit in the drivers seat of a snow CAT - mind blowing experience for him 🤣😂
Poof!

duskymonkey Yay that you made it to your ILs!!! All those cookies look so tasty. Want. Did you have your time in Chicago yet? If you did, I hope you had a blast! danvers That does sound like a perfect way to have some chill time before the holiday madness starts! Sorry about your SIL causing the schedule to change at the last minute. I wonder if she intentionally did it so that she knew you couldn’t come, since she has a 4 week old baby and your girls are sick? Seems sneaky, but from what you’ve shared about her - it wouldn’t surprise me. curmudgeon Sorry about the cleaning and your brother being weird, but hopefully you can enjoy those cookies and have some peace wrapping presents. And yes, +2 to kids being gross. There is always so much snot on DS1’s pillow case, and we change it 2-3 times a week!! Ugh. August Blooms I’m sick too - what you have sounds like what I’m dealing with. My throat is super sore, I have a runny/itchy nose, it hurts to talk, and I had body aches last night. DS2 caught something at the beach, and then he gave it to me....ugh. At least DS2 is on the rebound. I’m just trying to keep my symptoms at bay with anti-histamines so I can still enjoy my vacation. But I’m tired....😩

duskymonkey Ahhhh!!! So jealous! I hope you can make to the Christkindle Market at Daly Plaza! If you go, drink some gluhwine and eat some marzipan for me!! Oh, and they have the cutest boots they serve the gluhwine in. The brats/sausages are legit too - actual German stuff, not like the American bastardization that Johnsonville puts out (although I still like and eat those 🤣)

So much holiday drama. Not quite drama but I’m a little ticked at BIL. I know it’s hard to coordinate with family members but people have to take off work etc. and that involves planning ahead so he finally got back to hubs last Wednesday on when his family could do Christmas 🤦🏻♀️ I had to scramble and look for hotels and also felt so awful to let our friend’s know that we could visit and accepted an overnight stay with them last night! Anyways we hung out with them yesterday and left after breakfast this morning and headed into the city. We parked and dropped off our luggages ( had to bring everything including our dirty laundry 😑 ) first then walked around to lunch. We wanted to eat at Eataly but lines were ridiculous and no way the kids could wait. Anyways our room wasn’t ready until the check in time so we decided to go to millennium park and check out the bean. We could’ve easily walked there but DS wanted to ride the subway and so we did 3x in the afternoon 🤣😅 Taitai we had dinner at the purple pig! It was so tasty and their “tapas” were huge!! The kids were so knackered and fell asleep instantly. **

Taitai I think we might ride the subway or the L Togo there tomorrow although it might be faster to just walk there 🤣🤷🏻♀️ I think we’ll be doing a lot of train rides tomorrow 😅 weather here is great too! So we’re definitelt be spending just roaming the city! Next couple of days. We make our way back to The dark ages...I mean ILs on Christmas Day. Family gathering won’t be until this weekend.

Your boys are sooooo cuuuuute!!! 💕🥰 You can take the subway straight to Daly Plaza - there is an underground walkway that will get you to Daly Plaza from the State Street red line stop I believe. It’s not a far above ground wall from the red line either, so if you can’t figure it out - no biggie. Also - I’m so glad you guys liked the Purple Pig! Their octopus is sooo goood. DS1 liked it when we took him there...I think he was around 2 at the time 🤣😂 Eat some Garrett’s popcorn for me, and enjoy the rest of your time in the city! Sorry about the BIL drama...people... 😩 ETA - I love the Bean! It’s a must stop for us every time we visit the city, and when we lived there - I’d say it was the most popular thing we’d take visitors too. Sorry about Eataly not working out - so much good food in there, but not very kid friendly in terms of places to sit down.

duskymonkey enjoy Chicago! I grew up not far from a commuter line that went into the city and spent lots of weekends there (mostly the theater district). It is a wonderful place to spend the holidays too! Taitai first beaches, now skiing - so jealous and it looks like so much fun - what memories for you all! I hope your cold leaves quickly. I guess it’s probably Christmas there already so Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas O17! 🎄
DD2s favorite gift is singing baby shark puzzle. It is as obnoxious as it sounds but she loves it and so, for today at least, I love how happy it makes her and how big she smiles every time. It may be on FB marketplace tomorrow though 😑😂

Merry Christmas! DS2 just went down for a nap 2.5 hours later than usual 😂 his gift opening took 3 hours because he wanted to fully play with each thing as he opened it and refused to move to the next. My house is a disaster and I may take a nap.
