My (extended) family all left on Friday morning, and I didn’t get called in that day for my on call shift, which was nice. We have had a great, mostly lazy weekend. All laundry is done and I feel prepared for the week. H and I had a good date night last night, which we really needed.
We are all back to the grind tomorrow, but H and I are both taking a half day Friday because we are going up to the mountains for the weekend. It is supposed to rain again here this week, which means more snow in the mountain- they have already gotten a decent amount, so I’m excited!

Back to work today. I’m kind of hoping for a snow day tomorrow so I can get some stuff done before this weekend. I’m almost done with my shopping but I have just about nothing for my in laws. They sold their house, have a summer camp, have a ton of hobbies, but they don’t “need” anything. They are fairly wealthy and buy what they want. We have a bird feeder for the boys to paint but I hate coming up with Christmas ideas for them.

DH wants to take the kids up to play in some snow, but this weekend is going to be busy for us. I heard local mountains got 2 feet last week.

I never know what to get for him and I feel like I get him the same types of things over and over.

Hello!
I’ve been against Elf on the Shelf forever- we never did it when I was a kid and it’s just something I don’t want to do. DH finally got me to give in this year, saying that Ds1 would hear other kids talking about it at school and feel left out. I went out yesterday and bought one and actually started to get excited about it, but then Ds1 randomly confided in us that he thinks elves are very scary. “Them have little faces and little eyes and they spy on you!” So I guess we will spare him any additional trauma and the elf will go back to the store lol.
We have a super busy week, but lots of fun stuff so I’m excited! Ds1 has his Christmas concert tonight. I’m dreading dealing with C during it, but I have a small glimmer of hope that he’ll actually be entertained by the singing kids and will sit nicely in my lap.

pootsen. I’m anti Elf on the Shelf as well. I was gifted one and it promptly went into my donation box. It’s fine if other people want to do it but no thank you.

pootsen, he might just like the concert! But I hope it's not too long... for everyone's sake! thatgolfb, have fun this weekend!! No sign of snow around here yet, but we do go some years with no snow at all, haha, so it's no surprise. Supposed to be warm-ish and rainy this week too. I also hate shopping for my parents pootsen, sarahandben108. Same thing, they have everything they want, and my mom doesn't really care for luxurious items like I do! Ha. Also a big NO to Elf on the Shelf from me. I am way too lazy for that. Also, I don't have an older child yet, so DD won't know what she's missing. I did make a little advent calendar with activities and chocolate though. Tonight's activity is "swimming lessons, YAY" hahaha. So some days are just regular activities.

Today’s ds2’s birthday! My H and I are off so we took him to a children’s museum while DS1 went to daycare. It was fun and he had a blast. We came home for naps but of course I couldn’t fall asleep.
He had a blast at his party yesterday his favorite gifts were the books he got.

It is about a 3 hour drive from SD, without traffic (although, with traffic it has taken us about 5). I do want to go to Mammoth at some point, but we haven't been yet! I used to go to Tahoe as a kid, so we also want to go up there at some point.

I heard this morning that they got 4’ in one day!

E is also terrified of the elf my mom bought one and she cried because she was totally freaked out at the idea of being spied on and tattled on to Santa. Thank goodness, I wanted no part of it, lol. I'm such a Grinch. But I really do love Christmas!

Back when I was new to CA and younger, my friends and I did a surf/ski day where we surfed at the coast (one of the few times I have) in the morning then drove to local mountains to do night snowboarding just because it’s one of the few places you can do it.

Sweet! I definitely would have done that back in the day, it's totally possible up here on Vancouver Island too! I have just never surfed before.

Happy Belated birthday blabbermouth and lil jules1614. We had a pretty good Thanksgiving break. We visited my parents who are about 3.5 hours away, which was about an hour too long for L. He also refused to fall asleep at the hotel. We have sworn of traveling for awhile now lol. I have gotten the majority of my Christmas shopping done within the last week so I am happy about that. Now to wait for the packages to roll in. I am also not interested in Elf on the Shelf until DS1 starts asking. He hasn't yet so I think we are in the clear for at least another year.

Although, skiing is pretty expensive. I have actually never water skied.

I’ve got to make treats tonight to bring for DS’s bday since he won’t be at DC on Friday. We also have to tarp our balcony with sand bags I bought today before tomorrow’s storm. 😒

I didn’t see any leaking at lunchtime. 🤞🏻 The paint is pulling away at the ceiling across the whole front of our living room. Luckily the wall is mostly windows which were leaking so I think it’s only 2 down the wall and some ceiling, unless there is mold. Then there’s the unknown source of the water intrusion.

Hi there.
We do the EOTS, but no to a naughty elf, ours sits on the mantle and has a few spots he likes to rotate. No funny stuff, seems counterproductive. The boys hurry to get dressed and ready for school to find him every morning...sitting on the mantle.
The 2 bigs are sick, running fevers, exhausted and just sleeping all over the house. I have gotten nothing done since DS1 came home Tuesday morning sick. H is so worn down from working 13 days in a row with hours all over the place. Today was his first day off since 11/21 and he has a fever, chills and is throwing up. My body is starting to ache, I haven’t been sleeping; I cannot go down, we have Santa this weekend, damn it. Hoping the little 2 stay healthy.

I had a field trip to the Nutcracker with the 3rd graders today. They are not a very well behaved group but they were much better than I anticipated. Then we had a music concert at school. So I didn’t get home until 7:45. I left my house this morning at 6:20. It’s been a long day.
E turns 2 tomorrow!

Today I have a 2 yo!!! He has been a grump this morning. Both kids are sick so I’m coming up with a contingency plan since I was going to take them to an indoor playground for his bday. Maybe a park with a carousel. I need to be back by noon for asbestos testing. 😒 Then tonight we have a holiday party so the kids are going to a boat parade with ILs.
