I watched it last night! It was really really good so far! I love how they've really doubled down on it being a western.

I loved every minute. I think they did a really good job getting the gritty feel right. If they reveal what species Yoda and Yaddle are I'll lose my mind. Right now @disney can take all my money if it means I can get more.

I found it...disappointing. I am willing to watch more because pilots are hard and a bad one doesn't mean the series won't be good. I didn't feel any kind of emotional connection with the main character, I didn't get why I should care about this guy. I guess it's really hard to forge an emotional connection with the audience when he hardly speaks and never shows his face. Anyway, I will give it another episode or two, I WANT to like it! Visually it is stunning.

Visually it is stunning. I don't think they were shooting for emotional connection out of the gate. I think they set that up for episode 2, with the surprise at the end. That and the flashes of his parents were all we had. Boba Fett has 4 lines in the original series and he has hands down one of the most loved characters by fans. I think this series is going to play on that love and to those fans. Eta: Darth Vader is emotionally hollow, doesn't say much, and never showed his face the end, but my God if I wouldn't take a bullet for that character and watch anything and everything with him in it.

I was only half interested in it until baby Yoda showed up. I'm all in now.

Haven't watched, but will give it time to draw me in. I remember it took about five episodes for Firefly to get me really interested, then I was all in. Granted, didn't help that the network ran the episodes out of order.

I do, however have questions - in Empire, it requires a whole facility to freeze Han in Carbonite, and they're not 100% sure he will survive, and now Bounty Hunters just have a carbonite freezer in their ships and freeze all their bounties for transport? The show takes place 5 years after Empire, which means 6 years after ROTJ. That seems pretty fast for technology to move... Also the riding sequence was pretty ridiculous.

DH loved it. I thought it was okay, but the first episode was a bit slow. I didn't feel any real attachment to the character yet. I also had the same slight eyebrow-raise about the carbonite freezer as Dramaphile did, lol. I intend to keep watching and hope it hooks me in. With the revelation at the end, I'm curious if it is going to follow the "Lone Wolf and Cub" trope or go a different direction.

Ah yes the Carbonite thing. I agree that was a huh moment, but Star Wars is notorious for not following the rules when it comes to technology. They made the death star 2 9x bigger than the 1st in only 4 years when it took them 20+ to build the first one. So I'm not that scandalized that they sped up that technology in that time.

It's pretty much the only fandom that can justify and survive completely wiping out decades of canon in a single day and just starting over with everything outside the movies.

Visiting a friend. Oddly, he also has Disney Plus. While the pizza is on its way, we're watching the Mandalorian. To my surprise, I liked episode 1 quite a lot. And baby Yoda!!! Really liked Ep 2. Darn you Jon Favreau - nothing bad better happen to baby Yoda.

Watched episode 2 today and definitely getting more into it. Really curious if he'll really end up turning in the baby.

I liked the jawa scenes of episode 2. I love how they are expanding on the species we know in subtle ways.
And how do I get a baby Yoda? So calm, so quiet, I need this baby to be taking notes.

There's a theory that it's a Yoda clone. It tracks with the baby being so powerful. According to the googles, Lucas has never named Yoda's species or its home world, although there have been others of his species in the star wars universe.

I know the theories but I sort of don’t want the clone theory to be true. I would rather he have mated. I don’t know why. I think I’m broken. 😂

What is it with SW fans and clones? Can't we just have new characters that aren't exactly the same as a similar character before. The two main Yoda types in the SW canonverse are Yoda and Yaddle. Both were on the Jedi counsel. It's perfectly logical to think that that species is just really force sensitive, like the countless other force sensitive species in the Galaxy.

Baby Yoda must be protected at all costs. Just watched Ep 3. For me, wowza. And, happy to know that much Baby Yoda merchandise will be coming soon. I'm not sure what sort of project that was to keep things under wraps, but I congratulate Disney on it.
I've heard some people think the episodes are too short, but for me just right. My heart wouldn't have taken much more today, if nothing else.
Of course, if Jon Favreau does anything bad to Baby Yoda - no, he won't, right?

I’m watching the third episode now. I’m really enjoying it and I would die for baby Yoda obviously but I was distracted by the armor-maker asking the Mandalorian if he had ever taken off his helmet or had it taken off by others, and he said no. They all agreed they would never do that.
So uh .... eating? Bathing oneself? I can’t stop thinking about this now while I’m watching. I guess there’s kind of a helmet gap at the bottom you could wedge food up into your mouth or drink with a straw but are they just all matted hair and smelly and gross under there?

This a completely new concept and is confusing the fuck out of me. In Rebels, which was made by Disney, Sabine mentions how the armor is like a second skin. "My armor is like my second skin. I'm being serious: sometimes I totally forget I even have it on and I fall asleep in it." - SABINE WREN But... She took her helmet off. Like a lot. The armor, not really. The helmet, yes, because eating, talking, existing. My only thought is that since the Mandalorians are divided into clans, that clan doesn't take their helmets off while working or in public. Maybe like a religious garment? The Beskar armor was originally fashioned to combat the Jedi and some pieces are hundreds of years old. It is a huge part of their culture and identity. If they were hunted, their armor stripped and melted down, I could see them not wanting to put the remaining armor in harms way.

I’m going to go ahead and assume she left off the “while working or in public” part of her ritual questions, because yes it makes no sense otherwise.
