I accidentally discovered last week that DD calms almost instantly if P!nk comes on, so we’ve basically been listening to her non-stop during the day for the last few days. DS1 has been telling Alexa to play it whenever DD starts to cry. It’s adorable
DS2 is finally getting over this bout of croup, but I think he’s at the start of an ear infection now 😪 Damn adenoids. 6 more months before we can remove them (his ENT is reluctant to remove them before age 3).
DH is getting snipped on Thursday, and I CANNOT wait. 🙌🏻 I’m going to have a glass of champagne that night to celebrate 😂

He has come around, but he was so opposed to it before that now I'm worried that it will cause issues for him to do it.

My 2 year old DS has been acting very 2 the last week and it is draining. Luckily DS2 is a very chill baby because a lot of my emotional and mental bandwidth is going to dealing with DS1.

cmb, DS would do the same thing when we played him The Cure 😂 I have no idea why it’s the cure, but it’s been nice lol thinkchocolate05, I hope you can bring your DH around completely to get snipped. Men being against it is kind of my pet peeve, especially when their wives have done so much work growing and birthing the children. It’s your turn dude. It could also be extra annoying for me because it bleeds into my work life. Usually the guys who are opposed to vasectomies are also the men who don’t neuter their dogs because “they wouldn’t do that to themselves”. Not saying your husband is like that at all, just explaining why I roll my eye extra hard when men are super opposed to it but not to their wives dealing with birth and/or sterilization themselves.

@crazy3dogmom I have anxiety and safe sleep is a part of it. I think part of it is that it feels like I have some control when I follow the rules. The other part is I'm very risk averse when it comes to my kids' safety. There's a range of what's "normal". I know many parents who check their kid's breathing and watch monitors. I would discuss your feelings with you provider and see what they think.

My husband is a urologist. He's done vasectomies. His opinion is it's many times easier and less risky for a man to get snipped then a woman get tubes tied or be on hormonal BC forever. He's already said he'll get snipped when we're ready to make the call.

He's already said he'll get snipped when we're ready to make the call. It totally is so much easier on them. My H volunteered to do it when I got pregnant with DS2, but I knew I wanted to try for 3 kids (he was fine with 2 or 3, depending on what I wanted). We said I’d get a tubal if I ended up with a c section since they’d be in there anyway, but otherwise, it’s his turn to take one for the team I know a few men who had their wives get tubals the day after a vaginal delivery, and they totally lost notches on the respect scale when I found out

Blah. I asked my husband to get a vasectomy for the first time after DD2 was born. Haha. He was actually all for it but dragged his feet and then baby fever hit. I usually don't get my cycles back until the babies are around 18 months, which should be ample time to get it figured out 🙄 I am so not having 5 kids.
I told him if I had a c section, I'd get a tubal and even signed off for it but, alas. Now, I'm pestering the shit out of him to get it done already. My body has been through enough these last 9 years, damnit.

I started PT for my diastasis today. It should also address my bad hip, pelvic floor, and back pain. I’m stoked!

This weekend we lost power and heat for 30+ hours, on top of trick or treating and the Halloween hullabaloo DS was a nightmare. Then last night while up with DD2 incessantly screaming (that’s sort of her night time thing) we hear DD1 cry/vomiting from her room. So today, of course DS is home for a superintendent’s conference day, DD1 is home from daycare vomiting and shitting her pants, and I’m knee deep in a giant glass of wine. Fingers crossed no one else gets this stomach bug!

I am also dealing with constant low-grade anxiety about sleep/baby's safety in general and wondering if it's normal. I have this level of anxiety in my daily life about...well, everything. But this is all very focused on the baby so I am constantly at least a little bit anxious. I know a lot of it is because this pregnancy came after a traumatic loss, and loss brain is a hot mess.
I'm so used to living with anxiety that it's hard for me to discern what is a normal level to have on a day-to-day basis. Probably none of it, huh?

aeroplaneoverthesea Holy shit. That is one of my nightmares. Stomach bugs are terrifying and the absolute worst. I really hope that no one else in your family gets it. Regarding sleep anxiety, I had it bad with ds1 where I was constantly convinced something terrible was going to happen and had compulsive thoughts about it. Dh kept telling me I had ppd but I wasn't depressed and they only asked about depression and not anxiety at my post natal visit. That was five years ago so ppa wasn't as publicized as it is now. My thoughts and anxiety faded around the six months mark on their own but I definitely should have talked to someone. I was so deep in it at the time that I couldn't tell. I would just keep tabs on it like you guys are doing and ask your dh to keep tabs as well. My anxiety with baby J is going up as the end of my maternity leave approaches. I'm worried about her getting the (respiratory) flu and worried about her sleep and daycare. I'm going to go over safe sleep practices again with my daycare provider just to make sure she's doing everything I do at home. I saw the younger baby there with a blanket and I don't use blankets until over a year.

My best friend got us an owlet for our baby shower and that has been one of the biggest saving graces as far as my anxiety goes. I highly recommend it if it’s at all a possibility for any of you with sleep anxiety. I’m actually surprised I don’t have more anxiety. I was 100% geared up to have horrendous ppd/ppa due to my previous diagnoses and my likelihood of developing them, but so far at 2 months I feel relatively normal. @crazy3dogmom, hopefully as time passes you get more comfortable with his sleep habits and your anxiety will ease back. It’s definitely more heightened (at least it was for me) when he was super fresh since he is my first and I’ve really never done this before.

@crazy3dogmom If you can hold out until black friday, I think it goes on sale. I got mine when they held their mother’s day sale for $200, so I would bet they do a holiday one, too!

Also @crazy3dogmom, I often see owlets used on the Facebook marketplace, you can always try there and see if you can find one cheap!

Also @crazy3dogmom, I often see owlets used on the Facebook marketplace, you can always try there and see if you can find one cheap! I have been on the look out there, too. Unfortunately only saw it once months ago in my area and the person wanted more than I would pay for the old edition. I still keep checking for it. My cousins wife recommended something called Angelcare, it's a mat that goes under the mattress that is supposed to detect movement. It is only about $100 new instead of $300 but the reviews said you needed a certain type of mattress or it doesnt work well and right now E sleeps in the bassinet/pack n play the most, rarely his crib. We had this with DS1 and never used it the board, TBH. It could only be used in the crib. Angelcare is the brand name

S has started smiling the past week and it's amazing. That plus the better sleep the past three nights and I'm feeling on top of this two-kid thing.

OMG this kid never stops eating. It's impressive! I'm so glad I'm not bf because my nipples would probably fall off, but I can't pump enough to keep up with him! I swear, all I've done today is feed him and pump. It's exhausting.

Have any of you had postpartum nesting?? I really didn’t nest that much before I had DS, and for some reason it’s hitting me like a freight train right now and all I can think of is redecorating the house 😱 My only idea is that I was too stressed to best being a FTM and having GD, and it’s just hitting me now lol

I did my mantle last weekend because I’ve been wanting to make the place more festive. I think it’s the combo of being home on leave and wanting to make the holidays a little more festive this year with the new baby
