I’m looking for present ideas for DS and thought maybe it would be good to have a thread ahead of bdays and Christmas. I got him the kindle like his sister for flights, but will need a toy he will actually enjoy opening.

We picked up the little tikes STEM Lab forever ago when TRU went under. That's their big gift this year. Otherwise they're just getting a few other small things. They have too much crap.

I am definitely struggling with finding things that they can open and not further cluttering up my house. Having his birthday and Christmas so close together is complicating things a little too.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. Both kids are N/D bdays so we have the problem of presents one after another. No party actually will help a bit with it.
I like the STEM lab, but it’s too big since DS will be getting the expensive kindle present. Plus we have a workbench and kitchen in our living room already. I need something small. I liked the buckle tot thing from before, but now he is getting so big that I’m wondering if he will phase out of playing with it quickly.

My kid was eyeing up some of these bath toys at the store the other day, so I think I'll get one of these: yookidoo.com/product/40139-submarine-spray-station/And if it's a bath toy it has a home that doesn't involve cluttering up my small house! For her birthday this weekend she got: books, puzzles, stickers, magnadoodle Nikes and Nike track suit (haha) and from us a scooter and helmet (which may not be great depending on your climate!). We usually say no gifts at parties and people usually comply

C loves any type of vehicle toy- trucks, trains, etc. so I got him a Mickey Mouse duplo train. He also loves dinosaurs so I got him a v tech dinosaur toy. I hate v tech because they have the loudest most annoying noises but the kids love them. I think I might make up some vouchers for experience gifts like the children’s museum or the indoor play place. We’re getting him a tricycle for Christmas as his big toy.

I think I may just get her another small little people set, maybe Disney princesses. My parents are getting her the LP Frozen castle for her bday (they won't give it to her till Thanksgiving), and I got her the Anna, Sven, Kristoff, and sled set for her bday. We need NOTHING but a small set should be fine.

Little People are the gift that keeps on giving, honestly. DD1 still plays with them occasionally.

Little People are the gift that keeps on giving, honestly. DD1 still plays with them occasionally. We had four sets and just handed down two to a couple of Jojo's littler buddies. She kept the house and the barn. She still plays with them pretty regularly, especially the house as she gets more into pretend play.

It's sooo hard to think of enough ideas for Christmas and birthdays. Mostly I am doing legos, anything musical, art supplies, books for the big one. Playdough, cars, trucks, books for the small. Our big Santa gift for them are riding tractors that they won't actually get to use until next summer. Stockings have fun soaps, toothbrushes, snacks, matchbox cars, etc..

My big had his 4th birthday at the end of last month and we accidentally didn't give him any presents. I decorated the house for his bday morning (like a TON of decorations) and gave him donuts. I don't think he even realized there were supposed to be presents. So, we just let that one go. N's bday is on Monday and I have no intentions of giving any gifts. I will put up some decorations for him and call it a day. Luckily, none of the grandparents gave much in the way of gifts at their bday brunch this weekend. I think that may just be the way we go with birthdays moving forward.
I haven't thought too much about Xmas. We tend to do one big gift each from us with a couple of small things and a full stocking. Santa will bring one or two medium gifts. Grandparents will probably go light on physical gifts since we have asked for experience gifts.
We have WAY too much stuff so I am trying to really limit what comes into our house.

I think we will just enact a celebration or experience for bdays. Kind of like DH and I do for our anniversary. Last year we did the joint party, but DD also got Disneyland. This year, I’m doing a makeover for her and mommy date. DS I think I’ll just take to an indoor playground place.

I did forget about a little boys quicksilver hat that I ordered for him until I got the shipping notification. I would never pay $20 for a hat normally but this kids LOVES his current toddler size trucker hat and it’s on the last peg. So maybe that and his big kindle will be from us, then get a truck or something from Santa.

Amazon has a good deal on a bunch of Melissa and Doug toys today. It’s under the deal of the day.

I'm struggling for E. Having a boy already makes it hard for me to come up with boy ideas because we already have a million things geared towards boys.

We have the Elmo version of this, and both kids love it! DD1 still plays it with a few years after she got it. And now DD2 loves it.

When I googled this for the link I saw one with letters and I was tempted to get it too. DS is obsessed with Elmo, so it could be a good “fun” present for him since he really won’t understand the kindle.

Nice! And amazon is the cheapest. Thanks! I feel like I need to see this in person to get it, haha. But kids like the simplest things if they can take them apart and put them back together again.

Well I just ordered a stuffed duck for C. He loves ducks, calls all birds ducks (even our thanksgiving turkey), and is an excellent quacker. I’m so excited to see him open it.

DD2 also loves "gucks" of all kinds. She has a "Daisy Guck" and just regular "guck" and they are both heavily in her cuddling rotation. It's so funny to me, DD1 was never interested in dolls or stuffed animals. But DD2 becomes absolutely OBSESSED with stuffed animals for about a week at a time. This week she has back her her "Aily-man" (alien from Toy Story), and also her "die-saurs" (stuffed dinosaurs that DCP gave her). She usually has 3 in her crib at a time.
