mintyblueair does your dissertation have a strict deadline or is it something you could drag out slower so it's less consuming and still have a third? Or could you send your kids to part time care, or get a part time helper at home? I personally wouldn't be able to give up either thing if both felt so monumentally important to me.

mintyblueair, I am not a PHD student, so grain of salt. But if you want to do both can you look into how that would work? Can you afford to hire some help? I would not give up on either dream, if at all possible. I am also embarking on my third and I am at a really pivotal and time consuming point in my career, but do not have time to wait to have another kid. So, I am going to make it work. I hope you can too!! I actually started looking into hiring a part-time nanny today... But it would be a huge financial stretch for us. I have to crunch the numbers but I actually don't think it's doable, partly because I had a scholarship for the first four years of my program and it just ran out, so I'll be paying tuition now, and we recently found out our house needs $30,000 of major foundation repairs. It's tough. I really don't want to give up on either dream. I decided today that for the rest of this semester I'll work on my research every weekday evening, and see if I can get a good schedule going that way.

There actually isn't a strict deadline. But I do need to show to my committee that I've made progress each year, and they have to sign off on it. They're very understanding but I feel like I'm at a point where I'm going to start letting them down, because I'm really struggling to find the mental energy I need to get things going, and a new baby would really throw a wrench in that. I may also be able to take a long break and come back, with my advisor's support. I'm going to look into that tomorrow and see if it's something I can really do. I think this may be the best option because I could have another baby on my break and come back when I'm out of the newborn stage (I had bad PPA with both my other kids so I'm expecting it next time, as well).

I’m sorry katespade. I tend to find OBs see so many “normal” pregnant women that they tend to be dismissive of issues. I’m not sure how many chemicals you’ve had, but it might be worth it to meet with a RE who might take you seriously. But based on my own infertility history, I’m sure my view is skewed as well.

mintyblueair Having to choose between those two paths would be really hard. I hope you can find a way so you can have the best of both worlds. What is your doctorate in?

I think my “problem” is that she considers me “super fertile” (she literally used that phrase) because I managed to get pregnant with a correctly placed IUD, so she hasn’t seemed terribly concerned. She gave me the normal time frame of up to a year to conceive before it’s concerning. I’ve been sick now for 2 weeks with a cold that just won’t go away, and so I’m just fried altogether. I have my annual in January so I will have time to talk to her more in depth- like I can’t remember her assessment of the tube I still have, so that’ll be helpful to know. But in the meantime I might step away a bit. I just need a break from everything.

I'm in an English Literature department, but my dissertation is in the area of literary theory and philosophy of language. I spoke with my department chair this morning and I think I'm going to formally withdraw "in good standing". This means that I can essentially take as long as I need (years, even) and then just notify the department when I'm ready to re-enroll. I'm going to take the weekend to really think about it, but this is pretty clearly the way to go if we want another baby!

I'm sorry for all the uncertainty katespade. I hope your talk with your doctor in January helps you get more answers, and if you think a break will help in the meantime then it sounds like a good idea.

Update: took another test, very clearly a darker line. I’m heading in tomorrow morning for an appointment with an OB and bloodwork. Keeping everything crossed this doesn’t turn out to be another ectopic.

Things are going well I over here. I had my ultrasound yesterday and my ovaries are definitely responding to the meds. Go back on Sunday for another ultrasound. Hopefully I have 1-2 good looking follicles so we can move forward. H’s sperm looked normal, so we plan on having sex like normal people. After 2 IVF babies, I still can’t get over how simple this process is for most. I can almost pretend I’m like everyone else.

I definitely O'ed yesterday but FF might struggle with my crosshairs. C was up the ENTIRE NIGHT Wednesday night. She didn't crash until 3:30 am which means I only slept from 3:30-5 am and tempted at 5 instead of 4am like usual. After no sleep all night and the late temp my temp was crazy, unusually high. And of course it was the day I expected to ovulate and really needed an accurate temp. I know from CM and OPKs I O'ed, but my chart looks jacked now.
H has been sick from some meds he's had to this week too, so we hit two days but that was a struggle.
So now we wait I guess.

Today has been crazy. I went to the OB. They had me pee in a cup and didn’t tell me their test was negative, so I took that as a good sign. The OB (not my normal one) did an ultrasound and told me she was concerned about something, so they did the beta and then gave me 20 minutes to chug 3 glasses of water before they sent me to a radiology center for a more in-depth ultrasound. I of course was terribly panicked. I got there and spent 30 minutes being probed again, only for the radiologist to come in and tell me he was confident they were seeing the corpus luteum (on my tubeless side!) and that he wasn’t concerned at all.
So now we wait. Still bleeding lightly, still having a strong positive on a test I did, and I go back Monday for the next beta. I’m crossing all my crossables and praying it sticks in the right place!

Ok, I'm going to drive myself crazy. Can I get a CS? I really believe I O'ed yesterday based on CM, OPKs, and my physical symptoms like cramping and bloating. But with the wonky temp from being up all night I was thinking FF might disagree with me. I put in a dummy temp for tomorrow and it gave my solid CH for CD13, not CD14 like I think. If I take out the crazy outlier temp and just leave it templess it won't give me CH at all it seems. I put in dummy temps for a week out and got nothing. Anyone else feel like weighing in? www.fertilityfriend.com/home/55a6a3

cnf I would guess you o'd on Wednesday based on temps. The opks confessed me, but looking at some of your older charts you've had positive opks after o day before. But you know your body best and I'm not an expert lol.

But you know your body best and I'm not an expert lol. I always get multiple positive OPKs. It's annoying and confusing. I'll leave the CH regardless and just be happy I'm one day further through my TWW than o thought then. Thanks

Sorry for all the CD1.
Starting the waiting game for me. Took my trigger shot last night, so I’ll O tomorrow morning. Just trying to stay relaxed and enjoy the sex. Then we wait 2 weeks to pee on things. After my chemical in August, I’m going to try to wait as long as possible to test.

I'm 6dpo and starting to tap my fingers about peeing on things. I hate the TWW but I'm feeling less needy about POAS than I have in previous TTC.

I'm so impatient and I always start at 9dpo. I'm going to start with opks tomorrow because that will satisfy my urge to poas lol.

I don’t have a good update. My beta numbers were low Friday (78) and then dropped yesterday (71) so my OB says I should anticipate miscarrying in the next 1-2 weeks.
She said it’s a good thing I got pregnant (and I actually did ovulate from my tubeless side this time, which is also good) but man it’s hard not to feel awful about it.

My LP is 11-12 days so I don't feel bad starting earlier since my LP is on the shorter side. I may wait until Friday this time though, which will be 9dpo, because I don't want feelings on Thanksgiving when I have a house full of people.

I am O'ing currently. We have had sex everyday since Saturday and will also go for another round today and tomorrow. Then we wait (and H will likely want to keep up this streak LOL).
I have never been an every other day in my fertile window. We always just go 5 days in a row and it's been productive for us (this will be our third positive if we get it). So We are just gonna keep that up.
Good luck to everyone in the two week wait!!
katespade , crossing everything for you. ETA: I am so sorry we were typing at the same time. I am so so so sorry.
