Every day , everything DS does I think DD want like this at all. When will I get over it? Two completely different babies/kids. That look identical You may never. I have the added bonus of them being same sex, so I can't even blame it on "oh that's a boy thing and that's a girl thing." It's a true testament to that "every child is different" motto. Because it ways it's like being a first time mom all over again. (But with a more full tool belt at your disposal.) Yup, still do it. DS1 has me all skewed in what I know that Iβm constantly comparing the two. I do it now with DD, but more in looking for things to be βwrong.β Like, I compare her reactions to things to that of the boys looking for precursors to sensory processing issues (DS1βs were apparent at birth, but we didnβt know it at the time)

DD wrote a note to Santa and it's the cutest thing ever. It's just a bunch of random letters but she read it to me and part of it was "I love to give Santa warm hugs" and my cold Grinch heart melted into a puddle.
In other news, fuck frozen and fuck that damn million dollar 500 foot Elsa castle that she won't shut the fuck up about.

It's quiet around here. What are you all doing for the holiday season in the coming weeks? Any gifts you have your eye on for yourself of your LO?

M decided at some point yesterday he was a spider. A "happy spider" at daycare pickup, then a "sad spider" because we wouldn't let him take his slinky to bed. This age is so damn challenging but his imagination slays me. So, so funny.

A couple years ago, we started doing an advent calendar with SD that focuses on experiences with our family and/or to help others. So I'm plotting out our December and what we'll be doing. And how to involve DS more. There is so much cool stuff happening in our city this year. They're doing their first ever tree lighting ceremony. There's a Christmas percussion ensemble at the university. I'm just trying not to wear us out before December 25.

I'm just in toddler hell sleep over here! She has now taken over my bed, Help!
We are doing the polar express train ride in early December that I'm looking forward to taking the girls too! We will decorate the house after Thanksgiving and get the tree probably that weekend. Make and decorate cookies since D1 loves doing that. I'm having the hardest time on thinking of something exciting to get them for Xmas but not go overboard or stress because more shit just coming into my house and no room.

I'm gonna put this here in case anyone has ideas. Lately, when I get DS dressed he asks for a "turtle shirt." He doesn't have a turtle shirt. He has turtle underwear (one pair) that he wants to wear every day. I can't seem to find a turtle shirt in his size (24M or 2T). There are a few ninja turtle shirts in bigger toddler sizes. But that's all I'm seeing. Thoughts?

Also, maybe look for shirts with Crush or Squirt (from Finding Nemo) on them since Disney merch. might be easier to find.

I have a bunch of small ideas for Christmas to distribute to family members. I'm also looking at the IKEA dollhouse and some furniture.
Where's a good place to find crib size duvet cover? I'm not excited about the limited IKEA options but they seem hard to come by.

We're going to Disneyland this weekend for DH's birthday/to see the holiday decorations. Thanksgiving on Thursday. Saturday we're doing a train ride to see Santa. Then December is: Jingle Bell Run, town tree lighting, Christmas Parade, Botanical garden, gingerbread house contest, and ice skating! For me, I'd really love a new flat iron and a pair of Allbirds. My oldest I want to get a nerf archery set, a new bike, and a remote control monster truck (plus the usual pajamas and books) The 4yo wants an Elsa dollhouse and I want to get him an outdoor adventure set with magnifying glass, bug net, etc, plus a monster truck race set (and see above re: pajamas and books)

Last weekend was Polish Thanksgiving, aka Fake Thanksgiving. This weekend is Little Thanksgiving, and then real Thanksgiving out of state. So much Thanksgiving and family. December is a merry mixer of baking Polish cookies with family, seeing Santa at the beer garden (the only way to see Santa πΊ), township tree lighting, and whatever smaller events catch my fancy. The arboretum is doing a Christmas centerpiece class that I think ds would love doing with me.

I really want a pair of fancy binoculars but thatβs $$ so weβll see.
Ds wants a bat house. I have some Calico Critter babies on ddβs list. Then our go to items for extended family: books, art supplies, activity kits, etc. Things that are easy to keep even.

Sorry, I asked the question and then disappeared. I'm practically a zombie right now. Sick with a nasty cold and DD has decided she doesn't like sleep and has been up multiple nights in a row. Fun times.
We did our little family Thanksgiving last weekend and are doing Thanksgiving with the ILs next week. I signed MH and I up for a turkey trot thanksgiving morning. Hopefully I feel better by then. For christmas we do St. Nick's day with the shoes by the bedroom door and Cinnamon buns for breakfast on St. Lucia day. We also have planned breakfast with Santa, a christmas light thing at a local amusement park, tree lighting in town, and a holiday party with DD's close friends. The month is practically full already.
DD wants that bloody Elsa castle, but I convinced her to take a smaller version instead because the bigger one can't fit in Santa's sleigh. I'm mostly excited to buy stuff for the 4 kids I grabbed off the Angel Tree at gym class. I love buying stuff for kids and DD has enough stuff. For myself I would like restful sleep.

I want a full night of sleep π and maybe a day where I donβt have to yell at my boys to behave.
The kids need no more toys so they are getting mostly books. Each is getting a saranoni blanket (the boys are getting XLs, DD a toddler one though she wonβt use it for a while)
I got DH a bunch of ties and his annual day to day calendar (i get him one every year).
The house is getting new steak and chef knives

I ordered DS a balance bike. He's also got some small things like a puzzle and Dinner Winner plate.
SD is getting a spa day. I decided I should participate too, so that's going to be fun.
DH and I haven't decided if we're doing gifts. Last year we did each other's stockings with a minimal spending limit.
The family gift will be new board/card games.

I'm wondering if my 2.5YO could sit through an hour-long play at the children's museum.

Pre-K photos were handed out today. Ds looks good but Iβll just be over here crying into my tea because thereβs such a change from last year. The side by side gives me emotions. Heβs lost all his baby fat and looks so grown up π

Heβs lost all his baby fat and looks so grown up π I take picks every three months of DD in the same spot and I put them out for her birthday to show how much she's grown. The difference between 2.5 years and 2.75 was so striking. My baby was gone and in its place was a little girl. It was silly but I cried a lot over it. So I get it. Hugs momma.

She usually hides out in the basement, so I love when she wants to be upstairs with us. This morning she got up early (for her) and came to watch Mickey with DS. It makes me hopeful we havenβt totally lost her to the teenage nonsense.
