We went to a new homeschool group today. They’re a little more Christiany than we normally go for, but the kids really hit it off and I liked a couple of the moms too.
One of them casually mentioned she’s anti-vax and another joined in agreeing with her.
DS1 is immunocompromised. Dammit.

😬😬😬 Yikes. We still haven’t found a good group here in Wisconsin. I miss my Nebraska group. The admin for the FB group was also the admin of a progressive politics group too so it helped to weed out a lot of people that I probably would not have meshed with. It seems pretty religion-based here. Which I wouldn’t care about too much except I’ve already been unfriended on FB by members of the group for political posts so...I don’t think they are my people. So I’m mostly just getting the kids in a ton of activities and hoping they find friends that way. It also means I’m driving somewhere 5 times a week 😒

I have a friend from HS who homeschools kind of in your area, bunnyfungo, and she’s super hardcore Baptist. My SIL says that’s really popular there. SIL is a very devout Lutheran and thinks that group is too intense.

One of them messaged me last night asking more about our favorite story time (geared toward elementary age HS kids). She was vocally against the flu shot and DS1 loved her daughter. Ugh.
Obviously that’s a no-go but it’s hard to explain to DS1.
