That's so fast elle! I can't believe we're already approaching the end of the year. So crazy. I've been around. Same as usual lately. We're waiting on some test results for K that they needed for the g-tube but I might also be throwing a wrench into the whole plan now. I was putting my program management skills to use this morning and trying to lay out everything K needs done and I'm afraid we're going to be in a constant procedure/recovery loop for the next couple months unless we try to combine some things. I brought it up to the doctors so I'm waiting to hear what they say. It's overwhelming but I'm glad I brought it up.

We picked up a firefighter costume for O at Costco a few weeks ago. He doesn't care what he is. We got J an inflatable costume that's Mario riding on Yoshi. He was very excited about it until this weekend when my FIL put a police officer costume in his mind and now that's all he's asking about.

goldenlove, I hope you guys can come up with the best procedure plan for K! I can imagine that it's all really overwhelming.

goldenlove, I hope combining procedures is possible so you can avoid having everything dragged out over several months. *hugs*

Today is my last vacation day. I dropped the kids off and now I’m going to finish my book and get the laundry done.

The snowman costume came in! It’s super cute and it fits but O wasn’t as excited as I thought he would be. It’s also super thick and hot... depending on the weather on Halloween I might take the sleeves off. It could be 80s or cold... you never know.

You know those people I said Monday I was still waiting to hear back from and couldn't do much until they responded? They still haven't gotten back to me and I had to send them a deadline to respond with a reminder that I'm stuck and losing time until they get off their asses.
I like my job but holy shit these people really know how to make me want to burn the building down. On the bright side I've had a lot of time to watch TV this week? But that means whatever opportunities we decide to go for, I now have much less time to write them so I'll be in a scramble because of these people.

Haha it's weird to hear that Halloween might be too hot. Here it's will it be raining or snowing or too cold. And it's really cute that he wants to be a snowman. Hopefully he gets excited about it again.

I took my sis lunch yesterday and got to hold the baby. Everyone is doing well and this baby sleeps much better than her big bro and is all around way easier so far. But I can tell my sis is getting a little stir-crazy.

He’s either going to sweat his ass off or have to wear a jacket over it. You just never know. Lol.

So we recently replaced the lights on either side of our garage and the new ones didn’t completely cover where the old ones were. So I needed to touch up the paint. I dropped the paint can on our driveway! And in my efforts to clean up the paint, I got paint all over my fave leggings. FML!

What's up? Happy Friday!
H's weight loss push means we have a scale in the house again, and I'm within a few pounds of making it back to the 140s (I was around 164 at my heaviest, and at 140 pre-baby). I'm hoping to be at 140 by Thanksgiving.
Just made a grocery run and I'm spending the rest of the day quasi-working and cooking. I need to make some bone broth for soup season. Trying to convince my mom we should take my sister out to lunch but my mom keeps a weird retired schedule and probably won't get up until almost 11 so waiting to hear from her.

Today is my only work day this week. I have 5674531 emails to go through. Yesterday I watched the last season of Schitts Creek. I should have taken today off too so I could binge some more shows.

The Santa Anas are in full force, they kept waking me up last night, so noisy. So of course we have some fires burning (nothing close to me atm) and SCE is shutting off power in certain areas to help prevent fires. Wild times.

That's awesome starbuck!! tgrimes catching up on emails is the worst. I quickly went through some of mine when I was sorting out my transition to FMLA. Then I had to force myself to stop because I was getting mad at the idiots again. Ugh. elle I'm glad you're safe. I'm sorry you're going through that yet again. Have wildfires always been this bad or is this one of the consequences of climate change? I just don't remember hearing about it every year like this.

It's definitely gotten worse because of climate change goldenlove. We have always had a "fire season", but it extends later in the year and starts earlier now, and seems to threaten larger parts of the state each year. It's pretty awful.

Yeah, for them it's a necessity because PG&E's infrastructure is complete crap. The Paradise fire last year was entirely their fault. So they are turning off power for large swaths of NorCal to make sure their shitty infrastructure doesn't cause another fire. Down here it's a bit different. SCE down here in SoCal doesn't have outdated crappy infrastructure, but what they're doing is turning off power in the super remote areas that are still forested and prone to fires because of downed power lines when the Santa Anas kick up. So it affects far fewer people, is more strategic, and isn't lasting for as many potential days. We can thank our 90's governor Pete Wilson for the deregulation of the energy industry and allowing monopolies to happen for the shitshow that is PG&E. The Enron fiasco of the early aughts also ties in to this deregulation but that's a whole different tangent.

I also don't think I knew the Paradise fire was their fault. For some reason PG&E is one of the things I remember from my time in the Bay Area. That and Foxworthy street and the 408 area code. It's weird what the mind decides to remember.

It's weird what the mind decides to remember. I haven't lived in NorCal since I was 17, so I'm certainly no expert but it's my understanding that they've just been really lax with maintenance and repairs over the last 20 or so years, which (unsurprisingly) ends up with problems cropping up all over the place. They can't scramble to fix things fast enough, so clearly the answer is just to shut off power for wide swaths of people for days on end when it's dry and windy. It's seriously so frustrating.

Hi. Today is our last day of vacation. I’m ready to get back home and be back to our normal routine. My kids had not napped and we have all spent too much time together under one roof. I’ve eaten so much food and drank so much wine I need a detox ASAP. The weather has also been crappy the last 3 days so I feel like we’ve been stuck in the house. We did get to go out last night sans kids because my dad offered to watch them so that was nice!
