Randoms for October

I assumed this baby would be an October one since my EDD is 10/5 and I went to 41+2 with my first, but it's kinda nice to have it official. I want to get some kind of birthstone jewelry with the kids' stones so now I know what to look for.
I had what felt like real (though mild) contractions off and on for a couple hours last night and talked my H into sexy time but they stopped when I went to sleep. Really hoping I go into labor before I hit 41 weeks since this practice wants to induce by that point. The plan is to have my midwife sweep my membranes if she can at my appointment Friday morning and then start doing some pumping.
Anyone here pumped to help start labor? I'm not sure how long/often to try it.

marshian, I have been looking into birthstone jewelry as well, was so excited to know what his stone would be once he was born! I’ve been scouring the internet for sapphire jewelry since lol Hope the membrane sweep helps, I think that helped push me into labor!

My kids have unfortunate birthstones, garnet, emerald, and now opal? The combo looks very Christmas-y or like the Italian flag.

aeroplaneoverthesea - At least they're clear what they are. My first was born in June. It's either moonstone, pearl, or alexandrite. I don't really like the look of any of them. Leaning toward moonstone.

@crazy3dogmom Another option? Too many, haha. I'm used to just having one (I'm February so it's just amethyst).

Yay, October!! So many more squishes to come! marshian I didn't try pumping because, ironically, I was afraid to when I kept reading that it could make contractions overly strong. LOL. I hope your LO makes an appearance on the sooner side! S/O birthstones, part of the reason I really wanted a September baby was, admittedly, because of birthstone jewelery. We have July (Ruby), April (diamond), and October but I was hoping to have one more different gem to balance things out. I also wanted her to be here before the school cut-off (October 1st) just so we have the option to send her "on time" or wait a year. They're pretty strict about it so even though it's a matter of one day, it's nice that we will be able to make the call down the road.

I have Garnet (Jan), Diamond (Apr), and Sapphire (Sept). Red, White, and Blue. No thanks. Since there are many colors of sapphire, we broke from traditional and did purple sapphire for DD. Plus, her birthday is 3 days after mine, so I wanted her to have something different edit- spoiler

It’s my day off, DH is out of town. Like a crazy person, we’ve scheduled it so DD doesn’t go to preschool on my day off. This morning after getting DS on the bus she cried and screamed at the end of our very long drive way, in the rain, because I wouldn’t carrier her back in the house “BUT I’M SMALL!!”
Drinks in 2 weeks.

Is this where I confess that I have no idea what my kids birthstones are? Whenever I’m 100% done having kids I wouldn’t mind having something with them.

Helps when we’ve been on the same BMB each time 😆 What I liked about my necklace is they can add to it down the road. I actually got it when it was just DS1 and DS2, and sent it for reworking when we made it to september and had a set induction date

I've been going crazy buying jewelry. I guess this is my end of pregnancy coping mechanism. I have a cute stack of tiny gold rings on my right hand that includes a heart ring with R's initial on it, so I got a matching one (not exactly matching because the jewelry story I got R's from doesn't make them anymore. I'm really hoping this one actually does match) and a thin gold band to close off the stack. I also ordered a gold initial necklace w/ charms for both kids' initials (I tried to link, but it looks like the etsy store is closed right now), and my next purchase is going to be one of these initial necklaces in white gold and an Alex and Ani bracelet with an October birthstone to match the July birthstone (Ruby) I have for R. I have been saving all of my credit card reward cash and Poshmark sales to buy myself all this jewelry. LOL

If this kid could stop shoving his foot under my left ribs, that would be great. 😠 Mine has been obsessed with kicking the crap out of my right ribs for months now. Getting a sore spot, haha

To those of you that couldn’t wear their wedding ring during pregnancy, how long did it take for you to return to normal and be able to wear your ring again? I really didn’t have any swelling during the pregnancy, it actually feels like it’s my joint that grew and my ring won’t go over. I’m hesitant to resize it too soon and then have it be too big in a few weeks. Any experience?

Kept my rings on until the very end and we got a few super hot days in Chicago and I did deal with a little swelling (which then went down). I had really bad post partum swelling, partly due to the epidural and fluids. Took a few weeks to get back to normal.

H asks me at dinner if the baby "feels any different" than last night. I say no, why? Because he wants to know if labor is imminent. I tell him to please stop putting pressure on me about it because this kid will come when they're ready and it's not helping my mental state. He says he's not putting pressure but tomorrow is his operative day so he'd need to cancel things as needed. Dude, that's fucking pressure. Just stop. He's been making comments about this baby coming for the past week or so now. Stuff like "it needs to come this week since I have next week off no matter what happens". My practice lets you go until 41 weeks and I want to avoid an induction (and honestly he does too) so it could damn well be another 9 days before we have this kid. He didn't do this with our first, that I can recall. And I went into labor at 41+1.
I'm trying to give him grace because he learned last week there is a mass in FIL's abdomen near his pancreas and FIL had the biopsy today and the endoscopist called H (since he's a surgeon) and told him while they'll get the official results in a week or so, he's pretty sure it's pancreatic cancer which has spread to his bile duct and likely inoperable. Basically one of the worst case scenarios. So H is going through a ton of emotions at the moment.
I'm super emotional about the news but I'm also selfishly irritated because of all the times I need H to step it up at home and be fully present it's right before and after the birth of our second kid and instead he's going to need support from me when I'm going to be completely tapped out. Just a lot of feelings at the moment.

Oh my goodness marshian, that is so much to be dealing with for both you and your H. Hopefully he has a epiphany and can bring it together for your sanity’s sake, because he should know that your baby is going to come when they’re ready, you can’t just force a baby to come. Can you ask him to just stop making those comments for now? Will he understand if you explain that there’s nothing you can do and his comments are the opposite of helpful?

peggyhill Yes, I told him tonight that those types of comments are messing with my headspace and not helpful. He tried to back it down but I was firm and hopefully he's done making them. Only max 9 more days to go!

I’m hesitant to resize it too soon and then have it be too big in a few weeks. Any experience? About a month each time, but I know others that took 2-3 months. I swell ridiculously in pregnancy and don’t get a ton of fluid bags during labor, but once the majority of the water retention leaves (around 2 weeks), it takes me another 2ish weeks before it finally leaves my joints.

Thanks @crazy3dogmom! cmb, the weird thing is I didn’t really swell, I didn’t get much fluids, and I only gained 20 pounds. I’m not sure why they don’t fit right now 🤷🏼♀️

peggyhill some women won’t swell in pregnancy but swell ridiculously postpartum 🤷🏼♀️ there’s no real rhyme or reason to it

40-week appointment was this morning. Saw the nice OB and not my midwife as I thought was the plan but it went well. I'm 4cm dilated so all the cramps have done something! She feels I'll go into labor on my own before the induction we're scheduling for next Friday. Had her sweep my membranes. Send all the labor vibes! I'm definitely having more cramps/contractions but no pattern to it yet. I just put the toddler down for nap so I'm going to lay down for a bit and see what happens. If it fizzles out I'm going to try pumping a little.
