doodlemommy happy belated birthday! So glad to hear you’re doing well with your 3. codex320 wow! Like all 30 indoor plants? That’s impressive. My poor orchids are so neglected, I’m surprised they’re still alive. What plants do you have? I’ve just stuck to orchids in the last 15 yrs. at one point I had 2 dozen of them. Gave half of them to my sister when I moved out here and gave some more away after DS was born. I still have my 1st orchid I started with 22 years ago 😅

curmudgeon hey lady 👋 please pics! I’m hoping to walk a bit with the kids ToT so I’ll have some pics and hoping to be able to carve the pumpkins the boys picked out at the patch last week.

August Blooms happy belated birthday to your DD2. Hope she’s having a grand time at her party this weekend. I can’t believe almost all our O17 babies are 2 already. I didn’t mean to call you out, just wanted to let you know you’ve been in my thoughts. I dare say I’ll speak for all O17 ( we’re a pretty awesome bunch😜 ) we’re here for you even if it’s just thinking of you. Big hugs. Give yourself time and ability to grieve.

Omg! Love it! The lemur....so so awesome! How many people did they send in with the squad of animals? they had 3 or 4 people. The animals were really calm and just ate grass while the kids walked around touching them. None of the workers got in the cage, they just handled the gate door to make sure no one left it open.

cythe you did such a great job with the chest! Is it oak? I love the stain color you chose, brings out the wood grain so well. You’re such a handy lady. I’ll have to hit you up on tips about wood painting and such. Have you narrowed your kitchen choices yet? You are free to ask any questions! Im really enjoying my woodworking, so its something that im passionate about (today anyway hah) As boring as it is, I found this picture on my local stone importers website and I really love the look, so we will be doing something similar. PDQ the pic please, I'll remove it since its straight up taken from someone elses website. Im so so so excited to get started on building my cabinets. When we get our tax return (finally!) in the next 2 weeks or so, ill be buying materials to get started building. Im not looking forward to our demolition though because upon looking at my DIY disaster countertop, the previous owners laid a piece of plywood down on the cabinets, screwed it from the top down, cemented on top of the screws and then put the tile down. So... basically its screwed and cemented onto my lower cabinets so all we can do is brute force or cut it out. Ugh.

Taitai I totally forgot to thank you for the huggies PU reco. We still have leaks but not as often and it’s not soaking wet. Anyways I think we really should drop his nighttime bottle or at least scale it down. *whispers* lil fella is still drinking from a bottle at night 🙄 What are the rest of O17 bubs doing at night? Are you guys still giving them milk or done with it? I don’t recall when we dropped the nighttime bottle with DS 🤔 thechickencoop wassup!

cythe are you going for white cabinets? I really like the lighter coloured stone at the bottom for a counter top but then again my personal pref is an all white kitchen 😬 Oh man about the cemented countertop. I really hate cement, there’s nothing but to destroy it for removal which ch is why we weren’t interested in a cement patio plus if it has stress cracks, there’s very little you can do to “repair” it. Sounds like the lower cabs aren’t salvageable after demo. That really stinks.

I find pure white can sometimes be pretty harsh, so definitely not a cream but just a hair off white. And yeah, we were hoping to be able to reuse some of the lower cabinets but we've decided to just scrap that idea and make all new cabinets. Its okay, just a bit more work but allows me to do more with the cabinets. We've already decided to do 36" uppers and take them all the way to the ceiling with crown molding. So, thats fun at least!

After living in Southeast Asia for so long, I now prefer the “pants style” diapers so much more than ones with tabs. Those tabs leak! On the bottle/milk thing, DS2 gets a sippy with water before bed, but he only drinks a sip or two. Most mornings he wakes up dry actually, so I think I’m going to try for potty training in January - after our Dec ski trip. I think he’ll be ready by then, and omg no more diapers - life will be amazing!

duskymonkey whaaaaa? That is amazing! You are so talented! cythe it looks great! So many industrious and talented people here. Excuse me while I binge watch TV and play some video games 😂 CoachTsWife poor guy! I hope he is on the mend soon. So hard to look after kids and a spouse. :/ So guess what, I am getting a tummy tuck in Jan!!!! So excited/nervous and very much needed. Pregnancy and age have not been kind to my shape. A little worried about the recovery though. They actually stitch the muscles back together in the front to make it tight 😬 Anyway here is one Halloween pic! This was DS old costume so she might change her mind and want to wear a princess dress.

duskymonkey , M still asks for a bottle at night and in the morning - I don't know when we will stop that. She drinks what she wants and then hands it to one of us when she's done.
Re plants - we've got pothos, philodendrons, aloe, many succulents, money tree, African violets, fiddle leaf fig, monstera, song of india, snake plants, shefflera, ivy, alocasia polly, another type of dracaena (marginata?), a venus fly trap, a mini rose bush, and I think that's it.
I am always on the lookout for easy to care for plants. I had a parlor palm and calathea but they didn't make it. So sad.
eta: I forgot to add my peperomia, pilea, some air plants, and rubber tree. I also have 2 plants that I'm not sure what they are called.

I'm so sorry for the bad news. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and can help out w non-moving stuff! Can he handle like, ordering groceries or any stuff for pick up? Can he drive after 8 weeks? He is already trying to help the best he can. He actually started putting DS1 (4) to bed a few nights ago and that helps a lot - DS1 is super easy though. We go back to the dr on Friday to have (13!!!) staples removed and we're hoping to talk to the dr into letting him go back to work sooner than 8 week. FMLA protects the leave (he cannot be fired for missing school) but he has to use his PTO days and he doesn't have enough since he missed a month of school last year for his first back surgery, so he'd take a considerable dock in pay for the leave plus be SOL on any sick days he needs to take the rest of the school year. He's actually feeling much better right now than he did at this point his last surgery. If his foot would "wake up" he'd be in great shape (considering).
But he cannot lift more than a gallon of milk for a considerable amount of time, which is so limiting, but also very much necessary for his healing.

Taitai On top of the loss, we moved and immediately started a basement reno. Which means that I have mostly strange men going in and out of my house on the days they are here and making a lot of mess. The reno is running 2 weeks behind, our house is still not unpacked completely and is a dusty mess. Then DD1 started kindergarten, DH started a new job, I didn’t get a transfer I put in for at work. Hmm 🤔 what else happened? Oh my sister is going through IVF and isn’t responding to the drugs at all and my MIL was briefly hospitalized (again). It’s putting a strain on my marriage because I do everything and am a very strong person so my H doesn’t have to do very much but I’m crumbling and he is frustrated with having to pick up the slack and deal with my unpleasant demeanor since it takes all my energy to act normal at work. I do see a psychologist but haven’t in a few weeks. I’m considering going on anti depressants but it’s complicated and I feel like once a few things settle I’ll be better able to manage. And I do have an appointment with the OBGYN on Wednesday to have a follow up and figure out where the IUD went. I’m treading water since it’s a lot to deal with at once but it’s only temporary. The reno will end, I’ll be able to unpack and we’ve mostly adjusted to the new schedule. The rest I’ll figure out.

On a happier note, we only did a small thing on Saturday for DD’s birthday. We are doing a bigger thing with my mom and sister etc. this coming weekend since my sister is doing IVF and was unsure of her egg retrieval date. We got her a trike that converts into a balance bike. It came set up as the balance bike and she loves zooming around the house on it.

I unexpectedly have tomorrow off work 🤷♀️😂
We have an “employee clinic” for school employees here - usually used for quick sick visits and the like. I went in today thinking I’d be getting a referral to a derm for a cyst behind my earlobe and the doctor offered to cut it out right then and there, but I’d have to do it without anesthetic. My cheap self gladly accepted her offer to do it in office (all visits are covered 100%!) but holy cow was it painful and the nurse helping was so grossed out she left just minutes in and had to get someone else to help 😬😳😬
I decided not to scare my students with the giant bandage on my ear and just do some self-care at home. Netflixs and naps!!!!

I decided to paint the girls rooms and they look nice but my bad luck continues and I fell off a ladder. It’s this weird extendable thing that I though it locked. Just before I fell I was thinking it was extra wobbly and I should get down and then I fell since it collapsed. I hit my head, cut my foot but I’m fine. I’m taking it easy tonight DH came home early to take care of the girls.

duskymonkey DS will only take milk from a bottle still. And he only gets them at night but he guzzles like 20oz before bed. I know deep down we should probably stop them but he loves his night bottle so much. I promise I brush his teeth after.

Oh no August Blooms! I hope you're feeling a little better today! I’m much better today, I took it easy last night which really helped. I have a gash and bruise on the top of my foot which may not be great in my hockey skate for my game tomorrow. I also finished painting the girls rooms today (no ladders involved) and had a shower after where I realized I have a huge ugly bruise on my bum.

August Blooms This is Taitai FYI (Blinds Halloween) Wow - you have really been through a lot lately. I can’t imagine juggling all that, and I can absolutely understand how that would put a strain on your marriage. I would honestly feel the same way. I hope that your H will appreciate all that you do a bit more now that he has to watch the girls while you recover from falling off the ladder. Hang in there - you’re right, it won’t be this way forever. I also find (personally) that men tend to be more willing/defaulting/whatever you call it to just not taking on extra stuff. It’s really frustrating for me - both at work and personally, when I am the type of person to just automatically pick up slack when I see it. It’s something that I think a lot of women have to deal in today’s world - where we have to work but also shoulder (in most cases) a lot of the traditional home/mental load work that comes with being a woman. Glad the rooms are at least painted! I’ll be thinking of you and hoping for a speedy recovery!

bootsorhearts1 I am so excited for you! I have honestly been thinking about it too, but I’m scared to look into it more for some reason. Please tell me everything once you have the procedure!! Anyone else here ever get implants or a breast lift? After nursing for like 4 years straight, my boobs are like sooooo sad. Where did they go???? I don’t know if it’s something I want to do, but I’m interested in any anecdotes from here!

Happy Halloween! We have an inch of snow and ice on the ground today (not normal for us!!) so I'm glad we went to Trunk or Treat events this past weekend when the weather was lovely. Here are my superheroes! DS2 refused to wear the Thor mask (or look at me for a picture) and DS1 was all about the Spiderman mask even though I'm not sure he could see well. lol
*poof*
