It’s the month that most of our babies turn 2!! Happy 2nd birthday O17 kiddos! It’s also the month of Halloween, which is kind of the start of the holiday season, right? Exciting times!

danvers That’s great news about your DD2 being in the best possible scenario! I’m sorry she will still need blood draws, but I hope this is just something that she will grow out of, and yay for more zoo trips! doodlemommy I bet they took your up on your offer, because they figured you’d be totally slammed once baby #3 arrives 🤣. You are a saint - glad it worked out!

As for me - just slowly getting over the flu. H is totally fine, but DS2 and I still have an icky cough. I am hoping that by the end of this week, we will both totally be over it. I hate not being 100%
The good news is that the AQI wasn’t horrible today...just not good. But we can deal with bit good. Hoping for things to simmer down in that area 🤞. Stop burning your garbage and farm fields people!!!

It is so insanely cold here today. It was -3C feels like -9C when I walked DD to school. Frost on the grass. Brrrrrrrr
ETA: obviously it gets way colder here. But for October 1 it seems far too cold

But for October 1 it seems far too cold It was 96°F here today (here being the central midwest states) so something like 34C or 35C - There’s got to be a happy medium somewhere for October. I don’t even want to take the kids to the park when it’s this hot. But then -3C also seems to cold to go to the playground too. 🤷♀️

It was 28 without the humidity factored in today, my ILs got a few CM of snow over the weekend and DH decided to call and chat about the weather.

I am still here! Happy birthday O17. I cannot believe our O17 babies are going to be 2. Some are already 2! CoachTsWife and thechickencoop is already way ahead of us. danvers !!! how are our babies 2 tomorrow. I missed your update about DD2 but read the taitai's post upthread and glad to hear DD2 is in good case. Is the blood draws to monitor her immunoglobulin or something or rather? I'll have to go back to September to catch up. Taitai really you do not have the flu! Seriously the last time I logged in you were getting over a cold. You could use a break. Sorry about the AQI too. I spoke to family back home and they said it's bad too and they're much farther south. doodlemommy it was cold here too but certainly not frigid. Hopefully you'll have great weather when baby comes. August Blooms cythe thinking of both you guys

So I've been totally consumed evenings preparing DS' lunches ( which he doesn't eat ) and scouring online for a freewheel bike for DS. We finally found one last weekend. It needed some TLC and hopefully we can find shorter cranks. I guess I didn't realize it was a BMX bike and the previous owner didn't either and said her kids started riding it when they were 4-7. Anyways DS loved it and we gotta go it fixed up soon. I've also of course been busy contemplating and planing lil fella's birthday party this Saturday Eeeek! I forget, did any of you have plans or just family affair? Share! I know curmudgeon is having her exotic animal partay. Anyways I am a sucker for punishment and made a new bunting. Lil fella loves stars so stars bunting it was lol! He's also really certain about what cake he wanted. I kept asking for weeks and never wavered - so an orange Jeep it is along with the usual bunny rabbits and hedgehogs. Still lots to prep for the party and I am also making hubs Guinness cake too. Oi! why do I do this.

duskymonkey , we had a family party for DS2 last Saturday. It was about 25 people. We'd planned to grill out and have the party in our yard but it stormed so we had to bring the party inside. We do not do anything fancy, we just get together with family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) for some good food and cake. I do not like hosting things so I'm very relieved we are done with birthday parties until next July.
Also, we all know this already, but you are so talented! You put the cupcakes I buy at the store to shame.

Hiiii. I officially have a two year old (as of 9/26) and I am still in my feels about it. He is also going through a language explosion, which I never really experienced with DD - at least until she started ST at 3 yo. He's starting to say eeeeeverything and putting 2-3 word sentences together. One of his newest favorite one is "poop stinks". His 2 year check up is tomorrow so I'm curious to see where he is for percentiles.

I am so behind on the party details. I still need to send invites out. I did reserve space for cake and cookies tho since she gets booked up quickly. Decorations are another thing I need to think about. And I have late night work dinners most of this week so I guess I’ll knock it all out this weekend. I’m also freaking out that it will rain and I’ll have 50 people inside my tiny house. 😬😬

Also, we are still struggling with speech. I am waiting til 2 to do the state eval or whatever it is for free resources. He makes sounds thru his nose that aren’t really anything, or from the back of his throat. He has very few words but like beep beep he says bop bop. I don’t think he forms another vowel sound.

I could have almost written this verbatim with DD. Both I and the pedi wanted to wait until she hit two before going for an eval. She qualified and got weekly sessions of ST until she turned 3, where she aged out of that phase of the program and progressed so well that she didn't qualify for the next phase. I was very nervous/scared but it all worked out, and I hope the same happens for your DS!

Ahh 2 year olds.
It still doesnt feel much like I have an (almost) 2 year old. She looks 2, but developmentally doesnt act 2.
Still no walking, and honestly no real ambitions to walk. We have about 10 words, most of which we get in mimic of something. I'll say Louie (our cat) and she will say "oouie". We get dog a lot, and she's good about pointing out every dog she sees, but in a hilarious twist of fate, she's made up her own word for dog. Its the sound you'd make sticking your tongue out and moving it from the right and left side of your mouth repeatedly. Try it, congrats, you've now said "dog" in ESpeak.

It’s the end of the week here, and I can’t believe DS2 will be turning 2 next week! We’re going to make gluten/dairy free coconut dark choc chip cookies for his class. Some kids have allergies to eggs and gluten, so I wanted to bring something that everyone could enjoy.
They do this really cute thing where they make the birthday kid a crown (decorated with their favorite interests - I am sure it will be cars for DS2), and then the parents can come in to sing happy birthday/take pics. I am so excited - I remember doing this for DS1, and seeing all the toddlers lunge for the cupcakes was hilarious.
I was also in Europe a few weeks ago, and I picked up this awesome duplo moving train set for DS2. It was only like $50 in Europe, whereas the set goes for $150 here!! Stupid import duties. I’m just totally pleased I could get him something that I know he is going to love playing with. Can’t wait to give it to him!

Hey everyone! It’s finally getting cooler here thank goodness. Here’s some pics from little miss’ parties. We had a party at home and then a birthday dinner out and we spent the weekend at the beach. She may be a little spoiled.

I finished all of DS’s invites and have them ready to hand out over the next 3 days. While running errands today I completely blanked on my PIN number at 2 different stores so my card was declined bc I entered the wrong one. I had to ask H what it was. We had lunch out where DS1 kept loudly exclaiming this was the best food he ever had and he’s in heaven. (Chicken and broccoli) H is convinced other tables assumed we don’t feed our kids. Later this evening I plan to make blueberry hand pies with a glaze topping. I can’t wait.

That's a good number of people family or not. We only had about 16 people and it was chaos with the kids and we don't do anything fancy either, just food and cake too. I don't do any decorations or anything of that sort. I like to but I barely can get all the food prepped in time especially with the kiddos running around. Nothing wrong with store bought goodies. I am a sucker for punishment and enjoy making stuff. Hell I don't even do invites. I just email and text people.

bootsorhearts1...she looks so big now! how did our babies get that way! her birthday weekend sounded like so much fun for the whole family. Happy birthday baby girl. Happy belated birthday danvers DD2. thatgirlrachel...I totally forgot you were a week early. Happy belated birthday to DS and just wait, he'll soon be talking your ears off. CoachTsWife, add me to the cars loving club too. He's all about construction vehicles now and the $6 pack of mini construction vehicles I got for DS when he was about 2 and a bin of dried rice and beans keeps him busy most of the day.

cythe how is E doing with PT? is she pulling to stand at least? Also tots can be weird about making up words. For the longest time, we didn't know what DS meant when he said graggle. It took us almost a year to figure it out. Turns out the frog button on one of his toy ( teaching turtle ) makes a sound like "graggle" so to him frogs were graggle even though we would say frog say ribbit ribbit and refers to them as frog. He also would call dogs Bow wow for the longest time.

We had lil fella's party today and it was a nice crisp cool day with sun shining and we even got to hang outside our patio and turned on our fire pit and the kids ran around outside. I ended up making 3 strombolis with different fillings, usual corn and black bean salad, pasta salad, hummus and pita with vegetables. DS was so proud harvesting his snacking peppers he planted. I also made Guasacaca instead of guacamole for chips and vegetables and managed to make a pot of caramel to dip slices of apple with. I also ended up finishing DS' cake during the party cos I was running behind so I just kinda threw chocolate rocks and star sprinkles haha! Hubs guinness cake was a success and turned out pretty good so I'll be sticking to the recipe I modded but it turned out super tall and wouldn't fit under my cake dome - oops! I think I'll have to bake it in a 9 inch pan next time. I also totally forgot about the dozen balloons in the car *head smack*. Anyways we'll be opening presents tomorrow morning so the celebration continues and will be delivering cake slices to neighbours tomorrow during out bike ride and balloons to the kids in the hood that came but left without balloons. Lil fella was totally fascinated with the drink cups we had out and was super happy clutching it all day and pretending to drink from it.

So many birthdays here 🎈 🍰 🎁 I cant believe these babes are all 2! Anyone else’s kid not so thrilled by candles? DD2 was not thrilled by fire on her cupcake.
I took the girls to the zoo for the Halloween Zoo Boo. We had a great time but I am tired from pushing the two of them on the stroller up and down hills! The girls didn’t wear their costumes but did have cute Halloween shirts in with sparkly cat ear headbands. DD1 is going to be a princess of some sort for Halloween and I’m not sure DD2 will even let us dress her up 🤷♀️

bootsorhearts1 I weaned DS2 during a long business trip (12 days), and it worked out okay for us. He had been nursing at wake up, bedtime, and during some MOTN wake ups, but the MOTN stuff was mostly for soothing and not for actual eating. What we did is I told DS2 I was going to be going on a business trip, and that nursing was all gone, because he is now a big boy and can drink milk from a cup. At bedtime, H offered DS2 a sippy cup of warm cow’s milk, and the first week, DS2 drank about a cup or cup and a half of cow’s milk at bedtime. But then it got less and less...by the time I got home, DS2 basically was down to just a little cows milk and then some water. Now, he only drinks a little water before bed, we do stories, I rock him to sleep in my lap, put him in the crib by 7:45, and he sleeps in the crib until 5:30/6am. I’ll take it! When I got home from my business trip, DS2 only asked to nurse once, and when I said no, he just looked at me and said, “nursing all gone!” He hasn’t asked again, and it’s just a topic I don’t bring up. So far so good! The worst part of weaning was my boobs getting engorged and feeling rock hard for like a week, and also my emotional processing of it. But, I feel much better about it now, and it’s really nice to have my body back to myself again! Good luck as you go through the process yourself!!

curmudgeon Lol to your kid talking loudly about how much he loved chicken and broccoli. That sounds like something my DS1 would do. At least he ate well, and something healthy at that, right? Good luck with your party! I am sure it will turn out great. duskymonkey I love seeing the cakes that you make for your boys. You are so talented!! That naked cake looks AMAZING, and the bunting on the other cake - wow. You are an artist! Your little guy looks so cute! I can’t believe how big the kids are getting!! danvers Yay for zoo Halloween fun! I remember dressing up and doing trick or treat at the zoo when I was a kid - it was one of my favorite things to do all year! We will be in Japan bear Halloween this year, and they have some trick or treating activities at some gardens near where we are staying, so we are bringing the boys’ costumes and taking them. I hope it will be a good experience for them.

Oh heeeeeyyyyyy!
Yes, I have a 2 year old! DS2 turned 2 way back on the 10th and he's just as ornery as ever. Like, he's insane. I don't know where he gets it from 😂
We just had a party at home, cookout, it was a beautiful day luckily! He started daycare two days a week which I LOVE. I WFH so it's been so nice to drop him off the come home and just....work.in.silence. lol.
He only has a handful of words/noises/signs. He had an EI eval in August and didn't qualify; his motor skills were off the charts so it ended up evening out 🤷♀️ if he doesn't have his language explosion by the end of the year then we'll have another evaluation and go from there.
I thought it was funny - at his teo year check up, he's about the same height as DS1 was but he's over 3 lbs heavier 😂😂😂 He was 30 lbs but DS1 didn't hit 30 until he was almost three. Haha.
Now off to catch back up on the September thread I guess!!
