orangehibiscus Hopefully a phase that passes quickly. I wouldn’t change her diaper MOTN unless it’s poop. No lights, no talking, just in and get her settled or asleep and get out. If it’s just fussing and not real deal crying, I personally don’t go in. She usually either settles herself after a minute or two or evolves to real crying, and then I go in. But it’s whatever you’re comfortable with and you know your own kid the best. N went through this a couple weeks ago with the crying 20 minutes after getting her back to sleep. We ended up feeding her half bottles at night, but she was also mid-stomach bug and not eating much during the day.

She cried for 20-30 min with H and I taking turns soothing her every few minutes. Every other night she has put herself to sleep with little to no objection. I couldn’t take it anymore, and I picked her up. I brought her downstairs, and she spent some time hanging out with H and me. We put her to bed in her cradle. She slept much better! Still not wonderful, but it was way better than the last several nights. We got a sample of a new formula from the Pedi, but she won’t drink it. I bet it tastes different from the formula she’s used to. We mixed 3oz breast milk with 1oz new formula, and she drank that no problem. I have 2 bags of breast milk in the freezer and that’s it. I know she’ll drink it when she’s hungry enough though.

We’re trying again tonight to have DD sleep in her crib. I rocked her to sleep and then put her down, so we’ll see how this goes.
I polled my coworkers with kids, and half said to sleep train, and the other half said that kids will STTN on their own whenever they do it. I feel like this shouldn’t be this complicated. Am I overthinking this??

orangehibiscus, I wish I knew. After those VERY few good nights, we are back to waking at like midnight and then 4 or 5. I am so so tired. My older daughter has been up with a cough, too. I want to sleep train, my H wants to try reducing the amount in their bottles first. They were at 5 oz, then 4 oz, now we're at 3.5 oz. With the idea that when we do train them, it won't be such an adjustment. But something's gotta change. I have a cold and it's lingering because I'm so exhausted.

Sleep training I feel like it such a crap shoot under 1 year... so many illnesses and teeth and development you are always going back to retrain after something throws it off. I still may try because N has been sleeping awful lately, but I feel I may be wasting my time. Good luck to all trying though.
Keep in mind I only night weaned after my older 2 were one and the only thing that seemed to make them sleep better was being 18 months old and not nursing at all day or night that really improved my older 2 wakeups at night.

It has been going decently well @ges072115! Although, when we tried this almost 2 weeks ago the first 2 nights were amazing, and the 4 nights after sucked horribly. We’ll see how tonight goes

Sorry I have not been good at checking in! I’ve been trying to not be on my phone as much during the day because I was just on it way way too much. Like affecting my mental health too much. 🤦🏻♀️
Dd is army crawling and so close to an actual crawl. She gets up on all fours and has such a determined look on her face. It’s adorable. Knowing she is our last baby is bittersweet!
She still doesn’t have any teeth yet although we think it could be soon.
For those using baby food, are you on stage 3 yet? We are on stage 2 but I feel like I could move up. I’m just not sure. Also have you introduced peanut butter and how did you do it? Thanks!

I hope being off your phone so much has helped your mental health! That’s awesome that your DD is army crawling and almost actual crawling. My DD doesn’t have any teeth yet either. As far as baby food goes, we’re doing some of Stages 1-3. She will eat puréed foods, but then also eat soft chunks. For chunks, we give her one pea at a time. Her pea baby food was never fully puréed though (I make her baby food). In the last 2 days, I’ve made DD roasted butternut squash, steamed peas, boiled carrots, and cut up avocado (all to be eaten as soft chunks). She is just over 7 months old. I’m not sure when the “right”’time is to give her those, but we tried it about 10 days ago, and she liked it and did well with eating soft chunks, so we do it. ETA: we have not introduced PB yet. We will probably do that soon though.

I have done pb already I mixed it in with oatmeal baby cereal. She like it alot. I think for my son I smeared a little on a cracker and let him naw on it. We mostly have done stage 2, but that's only because the 3 usually have more different types foods mixed in. I will be using them soon though.

haleyscott We haven’t done much baby food yet, but after the initial introduction of pb, I’d often mix it in to plain Greek yogurt. I’ll probably do some with the baby cereal this time since we haven’t worked up to full on dairy yet. I’ve given maybe a couple tablespoons total of sweet potatoes. She might do better with finger foods, so my plan is to try a couple things this week. She doesn’t like being fed and just wants to do it herself. Total opposite of DD1.

We're doing stage 1 foods still, I think. Everything is still pureed. Pedi said we could put a little bit of peanut butter on our finger and just let him taste it, but we haven't done it yet. I let him smell the inside of the PB jar yesterday and will probably try to give him some for real this week. Sidenote on the PB - my pedi said that if you introduce peanut butter, you have to give it regularly. You can't give it once and then not again for 6 months - apparently, that increases the chances of allergies. So once he starts having it he will have some every few days. Also, that is crazy haleyscott, almost crawling! There's a little girl in DS's daycare class who is a month younger than him (so born in May) who is already full on crawling. I'm so not ready for that, thankfully it doesn't seem like DS will be for awhile either!

I think our kiddo's are basically the same age. My pedi said the same about PB - if you start it, you need to do it 3-4x a week. So we mix a tsp of it with rice cereal and he devours it.

Wow, good to know about the pb, our pedi didn’t share that so I’ve only given a few times, I’ll definitely start doing it more often!

Thanks everyone! We are still on stage 2, she does really well with it but I think I’ll stick with that and just slowly move to stage 3. You think I would remember what to do but it’s been four years since I last had a baby. Haha
Also thanks for the info on the peanut butter. I didn’t realize that!

What's everyone doing for halloween? I usually take the kids Trick or Treating but the weather looks crappy on thursday so I am not sure if we all be able to go like we usually do. N may have to stay home I am not taking her out a windy downpour.

We’ll be taking our first plane trip over thanksgiving, any thoughts on whether it’s easier to travel (as in lug around/install, etc.) with an infant car seat or convertible?

jewelsofthenile we’re just staying home since it’s supposed to be pretty cold here. Hoping we might get a few trick or treaters so we can show off M’s costume.

DD won’t care about the weather of course, so we will prob at least do our street with her.

We will bundle DD up and take her downtown to ToT @ges072115. It’s really just to show off her costume. I have no comparison bex15, but we flew with DD’s travel system (infant seat and stroller), and we didn’t have any issues.

It's supposed to be a wintry mix here on halloween, ugh. We will probably have one of us take DD to do our street, and one of us stay home with the babies to answer the door. I always make crockpot chili on halloween. I'm glad we got some good pics of their costumes last weekend when it was nice.

Our daycare told me today they’re going to start transitioning M to the next class up and I’m full of emotions about how fast he’s growing up.

M’s not crawling but rolls and scoots all over, after this there’s a 12-18 class.

IMO, a baby who can crawl/scoot/beginning to walk shouldn’t be in a class with 12-18 month kids. To me, the older kids, who are likely proficient at walking, may/would likely hurt your LO on accident because they have more advanced mobile skills. I don’t think a walking 15 month old is going to look out for a scooting/crawling baby on the floor. If it were my LO, I would push daycare not to move her until she was 12 months and/or walking.

At my DD's previous daycare, they also had an in-between room called a "waddler" room. It was for mobile kids (crawling) and early walkers.
I think it's fine to mix kids of slightly different ages- the twins are in a home daycare with like 6 other kids that range up to age 3. The bigger ones really do watch out for the little ones, and the little ones see the bigger kids walking and want to practice those skills sooner. There may be the occasional bump but I don't really hear about it. Nothing worthy of a report home. 🤷♀️
