Happy October! I can't believe how fast the year is flying by. How are your babies? Tell me all the things.
Sleeping? Feeding? Growth? Recent achievements? Fall plans?
One twin had been sleeping consistently 7:30 to 6 or 6:30! 🎉 The other guys still wakes around 3 am for a feed. But things are really improving. It's mostly been since we started daycare and more solids.
For food, they are both eating small amounts 3x a day. They've had rice, oatmeal, bananas, apples, pears, peaches, peas, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, and peanut butter. I think that's it? I looked back at DD's baby book, and we gave her pureed meat at 7 months! I made it myself. So maybe we'll try that in the next few weeks. I can't remember when we started greek yogurt either. But I know we did at some point before age 1.
Both are in size 9 month. Some 6 to 9 month still fits. At their last checkup they were over 18 pounds each and 28 inches I think?
Both are rolling around and REALLY want to crawl. They've gotten up on knees a bit but no rocking yet. One guy can really pull himself around and maneuver himself wherever he wants to be. Both are sitting for 30 seconds or more but still flop over after awhile!
For fall, we have plans to go to a pumpkin place, trick or treat in costumes, all those fun things. I love fall! Carters has really stepped up their game in cute boy clothes. Vests, flannel shirts, etc. So adorable!
Work-life balance has been pretty stressful. I feel like I've been slacking at home and work but just do what I can. I only have so many hours in the day. I come on here during commutes and while pumping sometimes. Getting the boys by 5 pm means I leave work at like 3:55 but I do bring a laptop home. I'm still EP and my supply has kept up but I will be stopping at age 1 for sure. One less thing on my plate!

Sleeping? uggg it's been a stuggle this month N has had a rough cold, then roseola and now has some random rash pretty much all over her, which I dont think is hand foot mouth but I also have no idea what it is. I am probably gonna call the doctor about it. So her sleep has been crap worse than her newborn sleep. So hopefully she can catch a break soon. And I can get back to like one wake up a night.
Feeding? We will probably try some cereal this week or maybe monday. She turns 6 months on thursday. If the cereal goes well I will start more fruits and veggies. Not looking forward to the no longer BF only poops lol.
Growth? She doesnt have an appointment until the 11th but at her last sick visit she was 17 lbs and she is in 6-9 month clothes.
Recent achievements? She rolls around and scoots a little not getting up on her hands and knees yet and sitting lasts 15 to 30 seconds before she is back on the ground and she is laughing a lot more which her big brother and sister like. They spend a lot of time trying to make her laugh.
Fall plans? Unsure we will hit some fall festival but I am not sure what exactly. We will do trick or treating my son just asked today why it's taking so long for it to be Halloween.
Work-life balance is tough right now. I have had to use a lot of leave with the recent illnesses. So that makes things stressful especially with the back to back illiness. And there are always things that dont get done everyday. But in 6 months I won't be pumping or washing bottles anymore so I am looking forward to that.

jewelsofthenile, I'm sorry for the sleep troubles and sicknesses! Hope things improve soon. I don't mind the one wakeup a night, but the multiple wake ups are so so hard (physically) for a sustained amount of time.

Eames Hooray for sleep and also go you for all those foods!! jewelsofthenile DD1 loooooves to make DD2 laugh, which she can do by pretty much just looking at her. And I feel you on the sick leave. I ran out of sick hours about 3 sick days ago and am just hoping my boss is understanding and we can get a couple sick-free weeks in.

Cooler temps are coming .... right??
Sleeping - N was sleeping well, and then we’ve had our stomach bug nightmare. She doesn’t have much appetite during the day, which leads to lots of wake ups at night. We also transitioned to a sleep sack from the puffy suit, although I don’t think that is to blame. Sometimes she ends up on her belly and wakes up angry about it though.
Feeding- we haven’t started any food yet. We are giving her some more time to get her belly settled. She is definitely showing interest when I eat though. It’s hilarious the way she stares me down when I’m eating.
Milestones - Lots of laughing and rolling. She has not started sitting on her own yet or making any signs of crawling (thank goodness. I’m not ready!)
Fall - DD1’s fall break is coming up so we’re heading to visit family. I’m sure we’ll do some fall festivals and pumpkin patches along the way. We’ve been so captive to the puking baby and the crazy heat the past month that I feel like we haven’t been doing much. I’m ready to get out and about again! DD1 is going to be Elsa for Halloween, so I want to try and find a baby Anna costume for DD2.

jacks haha DS is the same way! He’s very interested in our food. We went out for ice cream on Sunday and he was smacking his lips watching us.

I’ll write more later but in 11 days DS will be 6 months old. For awhile I really didn’t think we’d make it, and here we are almost there.

Hey hey y'all!
My baby still doesn't sleep. Weeee! I'm looking forward to his vaccinations on the 17th because the last time, he slept well for 3 days and momma needs more than 3 hours in a row. I'm still swaddling him because it's the only way he'll sleep - otherwise he rolls onto his stomach and loses his shit and won't fall asleep. I tried one arm out and he managed to get his wrist caught in the pack n play between the side and the mattress, and then he wrestled the swaddle over his face and almost suffocated himself. Dummy.
He's also gigantic. Based on my very accurate methods of weighing (lol) he's around 20lbs and 27 inches long. He's been in 6 month clothing for a month (will be 6 months on the 13th of Oct) and is in 9 month footy PJs (he's so damn long).
Loves food. Not crazy about broccoli or kale, but basically everything else he can't get enough of. We need to try PB but I have the anxiety about it. I don't know anyone by blood who is allergic to it and I've eaten it and then gotten all up in his grill and he's been fine, but still.
He hates rolling from tummy to back but I've seen him do it. He scoots around his playmat and will suddenly be facing the other direction. He LOVES to stand. I feel like he's going to take his first step before he crawls.
Fall is basically non-existent in Raleigh so we're still in tanks and shorts. We're headed to the mountains in a few weeks though so I'm pumped to put him in buffalo plaid and jeans. lol. We also got his raccoon costume and omfg he's so cute.

Sorry I haven't been posting. I am not sure where September went. Between the kids starting activities, school, family visits and just crazy life with 3 it has been exhausting. I hope to start participating again. It is definitely fall here only 8°c today (46.4°f). I am sick with a cold and fingers crossed the baby stays healthy. R is doing great. Sleeps fairly well. I don't usually keep count of wake ups. We bed share so I just nurse her and fall asleep again. At her 6 month a couple weeks ago she was 15.8 lbs and 28 inches. She is my tallest and skinniest baby. She is moving everywhere! Army crawling and finding all the little pieces of paper and crumbs. She loves to be a part of meal time and has loved everything so far. We started with avocado and she has had rice, peas, chicken, egg and cucumber.
Her newest lovely trait is screeching like a pterodactyl. Anyone else reach this stage? Soo loud!

Boys are 6.5 months. They're taking 4 seven ounce bottles, oatmeal and fruit for breakfast and oatmeal and veggie for lunch. Just busted out 12 month onesies and sleepers, but they're still in 6 mo pants. Still STTN thankfully. Drooling buckets but no teeth.

Ahhhh lemondrop and jewelsofthenile, SO SO cute! Wicket how did you prepare the eggs, just a soft scramble? I may want to try that. Well a few days after I posted, one of my guys is getting up on all fours and rocking! I'll try to post a pic later, hold please!

DS will be 6 months on the 12th. I used to sit on the couch with him in the dark early days and count the weeks until October 12th because it seemed like a milestone where things would get easier. And they have! DS has come so far from the early days of screaming most of the day. He's so happy now! He laughs and rolls and tries to grab everything. He's in mostly 6 month clothes now, I packed up the rest of his 3 month stuff the other day. He's eating solids now, thanks to orangehibiscus's brilliant suggestion of feeding in the bouncy seat. He's had oatmeal, peas and green beans and we will try carrots this weekend. His overnight sleep is pretty good, but sometimes a bit inconsistent. Like last night he was up demanding a bottle at 4:30, but he can usually go 7:30-6:30. He's starting to get closer to sitting on his own but we're nowhere near crawling yet, thank goodness. He's going to be a pumpkin for Halloween. Other than that, we're just not-so-patiently awaiting the fall weather to come here to VA. It was 100 degrees on Wednesday! But it looks like we are finally getting back to reasonable fall temps starting today.

Talk to me about sippy cups, any recommendations? Do babies normally take a while to get the hang of things? I’ve tried introducing the oxo one several nights (with water) and he has no interest. I sometimes use an open baby cup too that I hold but wonder if that’s confusing to try both.

bex15 We skipped sippy cups with DD1. I used open cups to learn (usually in the bathtub or with the tiniest amount of water because babies) or straw cups. I also had a bunch of the 360 cups, but she was a bit older when she figured those out (caution they leak on their sides). I know the baby feeding OT I follow on Instagram likes this honey bear straw cup for teaching how to drink out of a straw. I had no trouble teaching DD1 with just a regular straw though. We were actually at a friends house last night and gave kids sippy cups with milk so they could take them to the play room and DD1 (4yrs) couldn’t figure out how to drink out of it so maybe I did her a disservice.

She likes straw cups better so we have mostly done that.

bex15 we have the Nuk brand, I think. It has a soft silicone spout. They get like 1 oz of water in it at "meals". Everything I've read suggests transitioning to sippy cups early to phase out bottles, because babies can get stubborn after age 1 or whatever. For now, we're introducing the idea but not pushing it too much yet. I have been thinking about the transitioning and how it approach it, though.

bex15, I've been trying to find a link to the ones we had for DD. It was a three stage cup - you could introduce it with a super slow flow like a bottle, but as they get older you could change it to a faster flow. DD didn't really get the hang of it until she was about 9 months though.

Does anyone have experience with a Doc Band? I had an evaluation done this morning and they recommended we get one, I’m feeling overwhelmed.

We didn't really try sippy cups with A until almost a year. We then transitioned to just playtex sipsters instead of bottles. We attempted the 360 cup with her, prior to then, but it leaked when thrown to the floor. The sipsters don't leak at all.
Our pedi suggested we start giving the boys straw cups at their 6 month appointments. We haven't started that yet.

Toddler has croup. UGH. Feel so bad for her, because she can now express that it hurts and I can't do anything besides offer tylenol/motrin.

grover Sorry about the croup. Surprisingly, we’ve never had to deal with that one in our house. Meanwhile, the stomach virus from hell is still hanging out. So much diarrhea. So much laundry. Thankfully we have her 6mo appointment on Monday, so if it hasn’t resolved by then, hopefully there is something they can give her to stop it.

Thanks jacks. We've been very lucky because she's been surprisingly very healthy. I think she's had maybe one ear infection and a mild HFM over the summer two summers ago. No RSV, or anything else that her friends have had. Her only request yesterday with her daddy and today with me is Blippi. So Blippi marathon it is. Doc appt at 11:45.
