Hi All, New week, new thread. How are we almost to mid-September?! The big turned 5 and we had the girl's combined party on Saturday. It was fun but exhausting! We did a DC superhero theme and had a magician so they had lots of fun. Also not to be a creepy lurker but I noticed we have a new baby to welcome to A17! Congrats thinkchocolate05! Come in and share the deets when you can! Everybody loves hearing about a little squish.

That sounds like a fun birthday party! My DS is obsessed with superheroes so now DD plays with them all the time with him. It’s so funny. They’ll probably be Batman & Wonder Woman for Halloween.
We are leaving tomorrow morning to go out of town for a wedding. Not sure how having them at a wedding & reception is going to go. Plus eating out for all meals for 3 days is going to be torturous probably... hooray. Haha.

Omg guys I am 95% sure N has hand foot mouth 😣 Ugh! I had that in July with both kids. It was AWFUL basically having to quarantine us. I got it so so so much worse than the kids. They were fine. Oh no. I’m so terrified. jt2378 he has the rash on his feet hands and by his lips and has had a fever and looks so sickly. He also started pointing to his mouth and saying owie. And wouldn’t eat much during the day. I don’t have a rash yet so I am compulsively Washing my hands and crossing all my fingers. I called my employee heath services and they said as long as I don’t have any symptoms I can still go to work so 🤞🏼 I stay ok for at least the next three days, since they’re all 12h. I have like 26h of vacation in my bank so I canNOT get sick or I will have to take unpaid leave until the blisters heal and we can’t really afford that. Ughhh

addymac, sorry for the HFM! I hope you and YH are spared! jt2378, glad the party went well! Sorry you’re needing to transition J out of the crib already. I’m so scared of that. Good luck! thinkchocolate05, congrats! Check in when you can please. I’m happy to report we are still in the crib but it’s lowered to the ground and switched backwards and killing my back every time but I’ll take it 🙌 lol I’m not ready to live the no crib life

Hey ladies, Life is kicking my butt so I havent checked in much. The amount of paperwork and service hours provided at work is insane and keeps me stressed out.
Cant remember if i said we had our speech eval. He came out at 21 months which isnt a 25% delay so no service. However, the woman who evaled is a friend so instead of waiting 6 months for another eval if needed she said if im concerned in 6 to 8 weeks to text her and they will do something. Theres a place in town that will give him services too but we are going to wait a few more weeks.
Im also working with the SLP at work who is a good friend and shes given me some good strategies so we are working on it.

I’ve been swamped lately. Just no down time except naps and then I either nap or catch up on shows. Keeping busy helps me and A, but some days I wish it was possible to chill at home. Not happening with him. He’s too much on the go. He’s been saying so many new words and finally repeating back. Not all the time, but way more often than before. He’s still insanely whiny, but I’m hoping with more language to say why he wants, that will help him stop. A mom can dream, right? 😭 Tgis is j. Our only down time is naps. We have to be busy at home and take him out for a few hours a day to keep our sanity. Daycare twice a week has been a big help for dh getting work done at home.

Our days go by fast during the week now that R is in daycare and T is in Kindergarten. I also work a half hour later, so I can go in at 9 after dropping T off at school. I’m also responsible for dropping/picking up R and T - H works in the opposite direction.
R seems to love daycare, but she’s been really emotional lately. Not sure if it’s typical or she’s finally realizing that things are faster paced for us. She cries herself to sleep every night. Last night was like an hour and I went in twice. She just wants me to hold her and I know she’d gladly sleep with me, but I don’t want to start down that road since she’s very much into routines. I’m thinking maybe tonight I’ll do her bedtime like normal, but make H go in to tell her that I’m not coming in again so she should just go to sleep. She stays laying on her back, covered by her blanket - but just sobs.
R also has tantrums if she doesn’t get what she wants. She loves picking out snacks in the cupboard but gets mad if she can have what she wants. Like, sorry kid you’re not having chips at breakfast. She now says “show me” when she wants to show us what she wants.

Dh has had to hold and rock him to sleep for nap 2 of thise days which hadnt happened in a long time. I think its new setting, new people, no mom and dad, and just sheer exhaustion. Its getting better thiugh so hopefully it will get better for R soon

Holy fuck we have hit a sleep regression. She was a nightmare last night. Like sobbing and screaming like a psycho and wouldn’t stop unless held till 10:15! Woke again at 1:45 but thankfully went down but up at 6:30. She is napping down but that was kind of hell too getting her down ugh.
I really hope it’s a one off.

Sleep here sucks hard. And I was always saying how good it was going. Glad all our kids are being “normal” 2yo together. Yeah like WTAF has happened? I’m losing my mind. We went away down the beach house this weekend and I figured she would be a nightmare and not sleep in the pack n play, nope, did mostly fine (kind of took awhile to get down) but STTN. Got home and was a screaming maniac tonite who took 1.5 hrs to get down and I’m holding my breath she sleeps through. She was screaming yelling “help me” lol like what is happening here?! She has been insisting on having me sit in the living room and falling asleep in my arms ugh lol no thank you.

Quoting myself because update: STTN after a torturous time getting to bed so here's hoping tonite is not a repeat. I cannot have her screaming like she is being murdered yelling "HELP ME" 😳

Gosh. N is fairly easy for bedtime. Sometimes it’s just an extra book he wants to read but I can handle that. It’s the MOTN wake ups that’s killing me. And he is now coming into our room and getting in our bed bc we let him sleep w us when he had HFM. It’s just exhausting and now we’ve created a monster bc I either go on the futon w him or am too tired and let him stay in between us. I kind of love it but also don’t and know it NEEDS to stop ASAP. 🤦🏻♀️

Sounds like we are all in sleep regression hell. I didnt know there was a 2 year one but there is an apparently its a doozy. From what ive read some parents think their kid is giving up naps so they dont keep up with it but ive read between 85 and 90% of kids will get through it is a few weeks and will then continue to nap until they are at least 3. I was so glad to read that.
J has been a naptime disaster. I thought it was because he threw up and was sick last week. Pretty sure its a regression. Last week dh held and rocked him to sleep twice and took him for a drive once. On Saturday he skipped nap and i let him. The thing is he will happily play in his crib quietly for an hour so we let him but hes having trouble going down. Nighttime hasnt been as bad but last night he was up screaming bloody murder from 1130 to 1230.
Hes also a clingy mess. Ive read at 2 the separation anxiety can come back and its here. He cries when i leave for work. He cries when dh goes downstairs. He cries when we leave him at daycare. Its currently exhausting.
