Kaylee was born on August 12th at 5:03am. She weighed 4lb, 3oz and measured 16.75" tall. Attachment DeletedBirth Story: On Sunday, at 36 weeks, I started having some reddish/pink discharge but I didn't think too much of it. We took DS out to breakfast and then to the petting farm that morning. H and I were planning on taking DS to my parents for a sleepover so we could go out for one last date night. I was having cramps on and off but thought it was from the heat and being on my feet too long. When we got home, I told H I was going to lay down for a nap. At that point the cramps I was having were pretty consistent but they didn't feel like contractions so it still didn't click to me. I called triage and they told me to take a Tylenol and come in to get checked out. We were seriously planning on "stopping at the hospital before going to dinner". We did grab our bags and everything just in case though. They hooked me up to the monitors for a while then the midwife came in and said my contractions were pretty regular so they were going to check me. I was 4cm and she said she thought my water was broken too. When she pulled out, there was a huge gush. H and I were finally like oh shit! We got checked in and settled into our room. They put me on pitocin and told me to let them know when I wanted the epidural. I got a little bit of sleep until the contractions were too painful to handle but I was still afraid to get the epidural too soon because of how long it took with DS. The nurse reassured me that this labor was not going to last that long so we called for the epidural which took about an hour. That was close to midnight so we went back to sleep. A few hours later, I told them I think I'm feeling the pressure so they checked me. Yup, she was ready to go. They got us over to the OR, got all set up and got the doctors ready for baby. One quick push and she was out! I held her for a minute but she was having trouble breathing so they took her to the nest area to get checked out. By the time I saw her again, she had all the breathing equipment on. It took 3 days before I really saw what she looked like. She has a TON of dark hair on her head and all over her. Her eyes are looking blue so far. Still in the NICU and ready to take her home!

Went to my appointment last Thursday and my blood pressure was elevated (150s/80s). They sent me to the hospital for more testing and I spiked a few 170s/high 80s which made them keep me overnight and do a 24 hour urine test. This came back in the 590s with them wanting 300s, so they told me I had mild preeclampsia.
That Friday night they made it sound like we would decide what to do in the morning with the specialist, but Saturday morning my doctor came in and said they had decided to induce at 36 weeks because they thought the risk to me outweighed the benefit of keeping her in for another week. I was shocked as I had expected to be sent home to monitor.
That night at 8 they gave me cytotec orally to start the induction. (Trigger: This was a huge mental issue for me bc I took cytotec in 2016 to medically manage a miscarriage, but I told them my concerns and they said it would be a smaller dose and more gentle). Labored for 4 hours, then more cytotec, then started pitocin in another 4 hours. This took me up to about 4 cm. I wanted to go as long as I could without the epidural so I waited until I was having trouble talking through the pain.
Once epidural was in place the doctor broke my water and I labored for another long time period. I was starting to get more pressure (I think I was around 18 hours at this point. Math is hard). I was feeling pressure, so they checked and I was just 5-6 cm. This is where I always freak out and tell my husband the induction isn't working. I labored for another hour, getting more frustrated bc the pain was getting worse and worse. Turns out I had gone from 6-10 in an hour! The nurses and doctor came in, and baby Josie was out in two pushes at exactly 36 weeks. She was tiny (5lb 8 oz), pink, and screaming her head off. I couldn't believe how small she was.
She spent a few days in NICU for low body temperature, low blood sugar, high phosphorus and low calcium but is home now, and is such a sweetie, although she does kind of look like a little old man. I'll post a picture later if I can figure it out. Her brothers have been acting out towards me and dh but are very lovey towards her, which is great.

Baby boy is here!
Ulysses was born at 5:37am on September 15 after about 20 hours of labor. He came out at 6lbs 11oz and 20 in long!
On the morning of September 14 I was getting ready around 9:30 for our labor and delivery class at 11:30. As I was getting up to put on makeup, I felt a gush of fluid similar to a heavy period. I had been having mucous for a couple days prior after having my membranes stripped on Tuesday, but it felt different. It was clear, and it kept gushing. I called the nurses line, and they recommended I come by and be tested if my water had broken. It had a distinct odor to it, not bad, just different.
I didn’t want to alarm H too much just in case this wasn’t “it”, so I just told him we were going to swing by triage before our class just to check, but I wanted to bring the car seat and the hospital bag anyways. Once we got to triage it was confirmed I had broken my water, I was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced, and they were keeping me. I definitely found it funny that I was missing my labor and delivery class BECAUSE of labor and delivery. 🤦🏼♀️
They placed an IV catheter, gave me antibiotics for GBS and then I was allowed to have a hep lock. My doula arrived, and we started walking the halls of the hospital to encourage stronger labor, because I could barely feel any contractions at the time.
Things started getting more intense and I felt like I had to have made great progress, so they checked me and found me to be 4cm. We sent my mom and Hs mom home, told them it was going to be a while and they should go and get some rest. The intensity of contractions continued to increase for about an hour until I felt a contraction that double peaked. I insisted they check me again, and I had progressed to 7cm. My doula told H to have the mothers come back, they told me later that they had gotten about 1 hour sleep before we had them come back.
Eventually the contractions were getting to the point where I felt intense pressure, and it felt good to push. They checked me and told me I was just about complete, but I had a tiny lip on my cervix and they didn’t want me pushing just yet, which was TORTURE.
After about half an hour of grunting through contractions to not push, the lip disappeared and they cleared me to push. I pushed for about an hour, and Ulee was born! I got a 2nd degree tear, but it was sutured easily and there were no issues. He was deemed healthy and term, so we were transferred to recovery after we had the golden hour. He was so quiet and content. They monitored his blood sugar due to my diabetes, but we were fortunate and his sugars regulated and they didn’t have to continue poking him.
It’s been quite an adventure so far, neither of us has done this before, but we’re figuring it out slowly but surely ♥️

peggyhill Yay! I had been wondering about you. So glad everything went well! Thank you! I kept wanting to post and join in but between being in the hospital, all the paperwork, recovering, nurses and lactation consultants there was no way! 😂

Thank you all so much! It’s been such a learning experience, but you can’t beat those snuggles! ♥️ marshian, what’s extra funny is that I specifically emailed my OB and asked her if I was taking a risk rescheduling for 38 ish weeks, and her response was that I would probably be induced at 39 or 41 weeks depending on my diabetes so I shouldn’t be worried 😂 Guess I had some mother’s intuition early!

I finally had a baby!! And it’s a boy! Born at 6:20pm Thursday and weighing 8 lbs and 20.25 inches long born at 41+3. PDQ:_Elijah_Malcolm_
Long birth story: Had an appt early in the morning for a NST/BBP. Appt went well and we discussed inducing either Friday or Monday. We decided on Monday where I’d be 42 weeks then. We did birth classes this time and wanted a med free birth so we decided to give baby as much time as possible. At the appt I had her strip my membranes (she stripped them at my 41 appt too). I started getting more bloody show immediately after the appt and went to the grocery store and then home. Some mild cramping, but that’s normal after having it done. H was working from home in case I failed the NST or if the membrane sweep did anything. Convinced him to have sexy time and then we left to go meet his coworkers for one of their bday lunches. I had a couple contractions on the drive there, but it was bumpy and I thought it could just be from the membrane sweep. These started around 11:30. We got to the lunch, but I kept having contractions so we got our food to go. I had my friend meet us at the house and we picked the kids up from preschool. Things started picking up so I took a bath until things progressed to about 5-6 min apart. Labored a little more at home and then I think we left for the hospital around 3. My friend who took pics and sorta acted as my doula dropped the kids off at her house so she could meet us there to help. Got to the hospital and I was at a 6, but baby was still high. Since it was my 3rd baby and i was having trouble walking they completely skipped triage lol. They mentioned breaking my water soon after arrival, but I said no for awhile. When my dr came in she checked and I was still at a 6 (this felt like hours later but i think it was like maybe one hour later) I decided to let her break my water. There wasn’t much fluid so it wasn’t too painful or anything. I was changing positions: hands and knees and H and my friend used a wrap thing to take the pressure off my back, some yoga ball and standing/side lunges. I felt like standing kicked things up quick. I was checked again and I was at a 8. Did more laboring on the bed on hands and knees and some standing and I felt like my body wanted to push. I was checked and I was complete but baby was a little high so they asked if I wanted to labor down. Lots of yelling/screaming by me and it was time to push. The ring of fire is real y’all. I think it took about 2-3 contractions of pushing and he was out! It was nuts. It was definitely an intense and weird feeling to push him out. My husband and friend did so awesome. It was really great. The nurses just adjusted my monitors when they would try to slip off and they let us just kind of do our thing. So happy to not be pregnant anymore and omg now I have 3 kids!!!

Congrats babystandish!! Sounds like you have a great medical facility too. I was wondering, reading, if they were doing fetal monitoring or not until you said they were. I'm impressed they could and let you be so mobile. I feel like my monitors kept slipping and falling with me stationary in the bed, lol.

babystandish - Congrats! So glad baby decided to come on his own! And a pretty quick labor and delivery! High five for going med-free! That's also my goal this time, though honestly I count being pain med-free for 31 of the 36 hours of my last labor as doing it then, haha. The ring of fire is insanity.

I have an outside baby! *poof* DD was born today, 9/26, at 5:13pm. Exactly 39w gestation, and coming in at a whopping 8lbs 3.7oz and 19” long tl; dr- nothing happened until my water was broken then bam! Baby less than 3 hours later Long version We walked in just after 7:30am this morning. MW on call today was the same one I saw yesterday. She had done a vigorous membrane sweep and cervical stretch then- I was at a 3 and 80%. Check this morning had me at 4cm and 80%, but -2 station. They started the pit at 10am, but only brought it to a 6. Contractions were coming but not painful
I get my next check at 2:30p. No change in contractions, but I jumped to 5cm and baby dropped to 0 station. MW broke my water.
Now, the contractions ramped up quite drastically, coming every 2 minutes. They reduced my pitocin, but that didn’t help. DD pulled the same thing DS2 and breaking my water threw me into labor.
At 3:45ish, they were coming so fast and strong, I ask for the nitrous oxide. I didn’t like it, so I call for the epidural around 4:30. Knowing how it was with DS1, I have the MW check me. 7 cm, 100%, still 0 station.
I think I was entering transition at the point because I kept feeling pressure with contractions, to the point that I was begging her to stretch me the last 3cm. She was game to try and let me push some, but no dice. 😪
Epidural is placed just before 5pm. Checked again, no change. 10 minutes later, I send DH for the MW because the pressure with contractions was intense. I was convinced that either she was coming out or I was just going to poop every where. Sure enough, she was ready to come out. Pushed through 3 contractions and the epidural didn’t even take full effect. But she’s here and perfect, albeit jaundiced (waiting on whether she needs the billi lights)
PDQ *poof*
