I took A to get her bangs trimmed this morning and the woman cut them shorter than I asked. We had an appointment and we were the only ones in the place, but it was clear she was not a pro at dealing with wiggly kids. Halfway through the cut she mentioned her co-worker had to leave because her daughter may have broken her arm at school. So I'm thinking she's still relatively new - she had me hold A's head still becauseshe was nervous with how much she moved around. So poor A looks a bit like a little girl Lloyd Christmas. Although the mini bangs will grow out quickly so I'm not really mad. I'm sure she looks adorable. Do we get to see pics? I have an OB appointment to get to, but I'll take one when I get back. That's another thing, over the phone they promised to style a "pretty braid in her hair" - I guess to justify the proce of the $15 bang trim? And the woman could not braid her hair, she tries 3 different times before giving up and scraping it back into a ponytail. Which, A's hair is fine, and she's wiggly, so it isn't easy but I'd sort of expect a stylist at a kid's place to be better at that? Aren't those issues pretty common with their clientele? At least the toddlers? Eh, whatever. But when she was ringing me up and she asked if I wanted to include a tip - just as I said add 20% she said at the same time - 25%? Lol. I mean, I realize it's just another dollar but come on lady. I'm already paying $18 with tip for a rather crap bang trim. So no. Not 25%. 🙄

Yeah, I thought that was fairly steep for a bang trim but her hair in her eyes was bugging me. I was trying to let it grow out a bit, but that front part grows slower and she hates clipping her hair to the side and always pulls out the clips, so bangs it is. Pricey short bangs. lol

I was 15 minutes early to my ob appointment and I've now been sitting here waiting for almost 45 minutes. A full half hour after my scheduled appointment.
Oh wait. They're calling me back now. Finally.

Aw elle. I’m sure she looks adorable. But I would be slightly annoyed also.

elle that is annoying. C has only had a couple good haircuts and all but one have been at kids salons that are pretty pricey. You can definitely tell the newbies.

elle it took me a couple stylists (at a kids salon) to find one that knows how to cut Os hair so it doesn’t look like dumb and dumber. I pay $15 plus 20% for his full cut.

Yeah, I really liked the woman who did her first real haircut. She would have done a fine bang trim. Oh well, at least it grows back. Jealous of the haircut price though. Regular girl's haircuts are $30 at this place. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of child salon options near us.

H cried regardless of where we are and M just gets a trim. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We pay $25 a head plus tip for the boys' haircuts. We go to a kid salon. We've had mostly good experiences despite both kids crying and fighting the haircuts and one point or another.
I did have one lady who I was not a fan of cutting Os hair once. He was crying and kept moving his head, I was doing my best to hold him still and she kept sighing heavily and then mocking his crying. I was like "do you need to get someone else to finish his haircut?" I have no doubt that difficult kids are annoying to cut hair on, but also you work in a kids salon, it comes with the territory. Suck it up and don't be a dick to my kid.

I used to go to a special salon for kids only but after paying an arm and a leg we decided to finally start going to a barber. We had a really good experience and will continue to go there. My H has memories of going as a kid with his father and wanted to keep the tradition going. Lol. It’s also much cheaper so it’s a win.

I had to put him on my lap and then he ended up with crooked bangs. They weren't really setup for small kids. I'd love to be able to to let H just take him wherever but C does best when he can put his show on and zone out. Maybe one day we can switch.

MH gets his hair cut by our friend who is a hair stylist. Anytime he's gone to a barber his hair looks awful. Our friend doesn't really cut kids hair, though (she does her own daughters' hair, but that's about it).

So I have a dilemma.
I found out today, that J has a field trip coming up on Oct 2 to a farm thats about 30-35 minutes away. We have to transport our own children and stay there (which I am assuming is until the end of his normal preschool time of 11:45). However, I have to pick B up from school at 11:15. Meeting there isn't a problem because I drop B off at school at 8:45 and we have to meet at the farm by 9:30. But picking B up at 11:15 really throws a wrench in things. So I am really torn on what I should do. Here are my options.
1- Go to the field trip with J and just leave early (I'd only be able to stay for about an hour). 2- Have B skip school that day and bring him to the field trip. 3- Keep J home from the field trip.
Another thing that is in the back of my head is that we leave that Saturday for vacation so both kids would be missing the entire following week of school. So I am a little hesitant on if I should have B skip school knowing he's missing the following week. ugh.

The ENT also told me to get him his flu shot ASAP. My pedi doesn't have it yet. I wonder if the immunologist has some.

I've been so preoccupied since K was born that I almost forgot that I have the whole work leave thing to deal with. I had started my short term disability claim in June before we switched hospitals so they called me Monday (her due date) to find out what was going on because they called the old place. So then I scrambled to find the new doctor info but they ended up sending me medical release forms that I walked over to the OB office instead. I hope that was enough. I only have 2 weeks left of STD so I have to submit return to work papers, burn up whatever vacation time I have left then go on FMLA leave for 12 weeks. So much crap to deal with when I really just want to quit.
