Love it lahdeedah! Like a whole new kitchen. I think trimming out the island with moulding would look really good.

I actually like the backsplash tile more than what you previously thought it would be. But i do lean more gray than tan. It’s growing on me. Not exactly the color I had in mind, but I think I will add a couple natural/wood accents or pieces to give it a look I want.

Looks great lahdeedah!! So fresh and clean! I would definitely be getting some trim to finish off the island, especially where people(kids) will be sitting as it’ll be way more duable than just the paint. Great job!

One thing that popped into my head if you wanted to warm it up a bit would be brass cabinet hardware (the antique/dull, not shiny kind) lahdeedah. ETA: if you’ve already changed it out, disregard! I think what’s there looks good too

I think what’s there looks good too Interesting. I went to a specialty hardware store to get some ideas and I really liked this one that was displayed in a gold, but didn’t think it would go. I may have to go find something to try it out and see if I like it. Would this be considered brass?

We’ve got all the quotes and are signing for the renos. In the next couple weeks we’ve got to pick out tile for the ensuite. It’s small and we’re changing the floor tile to white. Do I go the larger 12x24 size? Will it be too big for the bathroom size? Stick with the square? Thoughts? This is it currently with the square tile. Options: or the square, not in a diamond pattern

vino we have similar to the 12x24 size and I think it makes the bathrooms look bigger, I really like it, although I don't know if it's on the downward side of the home improvement scene and the square size is coming back in?

Also, I dont know if it matters but the other tiles in the entrance and two other bathrooms are the square.....wait, does that matter?? does the house need to be consistent, probably right.

I love how renos go from 'Yay fun let's do all the things' to 'I'm overthinking and over analyzing all the things that have never been on my mind'.

Are you eventually going to replace the entrance and other 2 bathrooms as well? Seems like new builds, everything matches. We have the same tile in all 3 bathrooms and replaced the tile we had in the entrance with hard wood. Our showers both still have the smaller square tiles, but that would be an entirely other project that we didn't want to take on at that time.

I can probably make a case for either vino, I think both square and rectangular can be good looks. For your particular bath I might go rectangular since it’s not a huge space. I like the big 12x24’s. I think square looks best when they’re larger tiles (ideally 18”x18”) and run on the diagonal, which is a bit more stylish/up-to-date and can make a room feel more spacious. ETA: Square tile can be a bit more traditional looking than rectangular so that may influence your choice, too—if you tend toward more transitional/contemporary styles I would probably lean towards the rectangular.

mwhip I wasnt planning on doing the entrance and main bath as we did those years ago to take out the nasty lino that was there. I am hoping that because the master suite is the only thing on this level and bringing in the counters from the kitchen/main bath it'll be enough of a seamless look. flamingo thanks for the feedback , glad to hear that it's not that big of an issue

vino we have a tiny bathroom, and got the almost the biggest tiles we could find on our floors, it looks great and it does make it feel bigger. So I say go for it!

vino I like the rectangular tile, that’s what I have in my main bath which is pretty small. I don’t think tile has to be the same in all of your spaces unless you can see them at the same time.

Also the more you do the more you want to do. I have so many things I want to do/change now that my kitchen is done and I’m going nowhere fast. Especially after this last week I had.

I like the rectangular or bigger square tiles more than the small square ones. I would say it depends on the style or feel of your house. Either will look good.

So what I am getting from this is that this is NOT a polarizing topic and we can move forward depending on style, feel and in stock of tile rather than large or small. Thanks everyone, I'm sure MH will be thrilled not to hear about this anymore. Considering this wasnt even on the radar...remember we started with baseboards and kitchen reface ::maniacal laughter::

I like the middle. I love dark but they show everything! The middle color is rich without being to dark.

I like the middle. I love dark but they show everything! The middle color is rich without being to dark. I like the lightness of the middle one but there is a faint yellow undertone which is exactly what we are trying to get rid of, so we are quite torn. I think the right one is too dark so that one may be out for the reasons you said.

vino , All 3 would look good but if I have to choose, I'd pick the left one.
