snoopmommymom, I love it! Are you still happy with your choices? Anything you would have done differently?

Oooh. I like what you are planning. In the inspiration photos, is that the cabinet color you would like? Also did you do the layout on an app or is that from a contractor? Yes, I’m leaning toward a color similar to those. Which after looking into it, I found out the first one is Benjamin Moore revere pewter, which is the color we have painted in 50% of our house... it looks so different on the cabinets though! And that’s an app I have. It’s called Tapglance and I got it for .99¢ i few years ago and I love it!

snoopmommymom, I love it! Are you still happy with your choices? Anything you would have done differently? Yes. We did very similar finishes on the cabinets like that picture. Oil rubbed bronze. We did a quartz countertop. White with long veins. I forget the name. White subway tile as the backsplash. Oversized island. It’s my favorite room in the house (we also made an open floorplan, so it is the main part of the house). I’ll try to take some pictures tomorrow if i can hide the clutter.

Revere pewter showed up so dark on my walls when we were testing colors, so we went with BM light pewter on our walls.

I am doing a kitchen reface from oak to white, repaint the whole house, all new baseboards and window casings and floor refinish. For my floor this is the stain that I've showed the contractor. I want a nice true brown hardwood colour

For my home colour I'm in between these two right now SW Online Grey SW Network Grey-pour trim will be white so this pic shows them together Or if anyone else has a grey recommendation I'll take it.

So here is my kitchen- it’s a pic from the listing. I’m planning to repaint the cabinets white- you can’t tell from this pic, but there are a few cracks in the old paint and it’s a creamy white. I need new countertops and backsplash. The island, I want to level it, so take out the part that goes higher where the barstools are. The kitchen guy said no problem. I also think I need to do something to the island because it just looks kind of plain when looking at it from this angle. Like maybe put some kind of “framing” on it to make it more visually appealing? What do we think of painting it a different color? Should I keep it white? Also I wasn’t sure of what color countertops. I think I want light/white. I’ve seen it done in some pics and I think I like it, but I would probably have to do quartz because I have t seen a lot of light granite colors. I’m not sure if I should do white cabinets, countertops and backsplash in this space. Thoughts? I’ll see if I can find some inspiration pics of things I like. Sorry I am all over the place in this post.

I don’t love the dark and some of the light wood is ok, but this brown is my favorite.

lahdeedah I love the kitchen and think that a new fresh paint on the doors would be great! I would probably hold off on making any lower design changes to the island other than taking it to one level, I think that might be enough of a change as a whole. For counter tops, I love my quartz. There is literally zero maintenance. The granite that the previous owner put in my master bath has a terrible water stain that will not go away and looks terrible. Hmmm maybe I should add a bathroom reno to my list.....

snoopmommymom, love your kitchen! @lahdeeedah, I’m leaning to toward doing our island in a dark color, like the inspo pick I posted, so that’s my vote! I think making it all one level will be a great change too. vino, I think our hope is to do it this year, although Dh just told me last night we are making any decisions until we get a better feel for what’s going on with the markets right now. Boo.

Boo. I was kinda thinking the same thing today about the state of the economy. Like maybe I should hold off on some of it until I see if this will blow over soon. MH is salary, but he won’t have to be at work for the foreseeable future so I just need to chill on wanting to spend all the money on house stuff. At the very least, I will still be getting the paint done for now.

lahdeedah I like the idea of a darker/contrasting island, if for no other reason than it camouflages marks better from knees, barstools, etc. But I think it's kind of personal preference. I do like the idea of bringing it all down to one level, looks up-to-date and would give you more usable counter space. That is what I want to do in the house we're looking at.

I made that change to our peninsula when we designed out house lahdeedah. I feel like the raised bar just becomes a dumping ground.

Truth be told, we will probably still use it somewhat as a dumping for school work and such, but I can utilize it better. Especially for meal prep and whatnot.

Here is my before and after. Sorry the before is not great. I ordered some new barstools and just ordered some knobs for the cabinets. Hope they both work. I have a runner for the floor to add some color, too. I also want to add some “framing” ( not sure if that’s what it’s called) to the side and back of the island because it just looks too plain.

Something like on the side of this island. Anyone know what that’s called or where to get it?

lahdeedah looks great! You can get trim like your inspo pic at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Cut to any length you need, any design you like. You’d also probably want to get a Brad nailer. I’ll link you to someone on IG I follow that uses that all the time.

lahdeedah It looks great! Also, I believe you're looking for the word trim and you could probably do it yourself.

That looks like wainscoting lahdeedah which is usually a whole board but I think you can do it with trim pieces and have that look.
