Thanks all! She has been good at maintaining her sugar level and temperature now and passed her glucose test, but her calcium was randomly low this afternoon, so they are keeping her at least through the night. It could be a thyroid thing but could just be a random thing. We are about 25 minutes from the hospital. I was tempted to stay all night in the chair in the NICU but the boys need me too, and I should try to rest and pump a little. She is just so sweet and adorable. I'm so in love.

thinkchocolate05 leaving the hospital the first night was so hard. The nurse told us that most parents go home at night if they live close enough. That made me feel better. It still sucks to leave but they're being well taken care of and having other kids at home makes it hard to be away from home too long.

3 days overdue now. Cmon baby! I was just thinking about you! I hope baby is here very soon and that you have a quick and easy delivery! Do you have any plans for if you go much longer?

I plan on going as long as possible as long as everything keeps checking out okay. Next appt is Monday at 41w to check on everything like fluids and such. I was 4 days late with my first so I’m hoping this one follows suit. My dr will let me go to 42 which I’m thankful for.

I hope you don't make it that long!

Pop that baby out soon babystandish, then have a cocktail...then report back on how good said cocktail tastes. Have I mentioned I’m really looking forward to having an adult beverage in a few weeks? I’ve been looking up recipes for DH to make. Mama needs a spicy marg or a burbon cider slushee.

H and I are still working through girl names. I'm feeling a bit like I need to give his names some more weight since #1's name was my idea. Though he admitted he didn't like any of the options on his list very much and liked her name. Ugh, why is this so hard?

It took DH and I forever to find something we both liked since we have very different tastes.

For #1, his list was all names I associate with the 80s (Jessica, Jennifer, Samantha, etc). Very much not my style. #1's name is Josephine. My preferences are: - Not super popular right now. Preferably not top 50, but really not top 20 - A real name, not a name which is a combo of two other names - No hyphenated names Names on our combined list: Alexandra Alanna Victoria (popular but I've liked it a long time) Helena Cassandra Catherine Elena Elaina Caroline Adelaide Cora Isabel Eleanor ETA: I should note I just doubled the size of that list in the last 20 minutes, haha

marshian I love Helena. Helena and Helene were both on our list for potential MNs (Helen is DH’s grandmother...unfortunately I have a great Aunt Helen who was an infamous asshole, so we decided against it). Victoria is lovely as well. I’m trying to think of our girl names that ended up not working out: Daphne Greta Cecelia Lucy

marshian I think Helena or Eleanor would go great with big sister Josephine's name. Eleanor is one of my favorite names. I also love the name Adelaide - it was my great grandmother's name. I have her middle for my first and would have preferred her first name instead- I was in college before I was the only one in the class with my name. I got Adelaide from a name generator and liked it but also we were in Australia this summer for vacation (though not in Adelaide) so it has a little meaning there.

36-week appointment was this morning. Had some confusion because the OB I saw last time said the growth sonogram was included in this appointment and then I get there and the midwife says they don't have their sonographer there on Fridays so I should have made a separate appointment. But no worries, we just moved next week's appointment to Wednesday and will do the sonogram then. GBS swab and flu shot done. Midwife said I can pre-register on the hospital website but I can't find it. (Their website navigation and search function suck). Otherwise, all looks fine and she's "confident" baby is head-down. I did a head tilt when she came in and said she'd do the swab and a cervical check. I declined the cervical check and she then talked about how they're silly to do ahead of time with no concerns, etc etc. But apparently the "women in Baltimore" all love to get them. No thanks.

My H is having memory lapses. I go over the stuff I want to use our registry discount on (not much) and it includes a two-pack of MAM pacifiers and a two-pack of Nuks. H says "we need way more than two! And why are there different types?" I remind him we had to try four different brands with #1. "Not uh, she took whatever!" No, my dear, she spat out everything except the MAMs. 🤦♀️

Nice finds, @crazy3dogmom!
Our town has a huge town-wide yard sale every September so we scored some great baby things, too. We got two bouncy seats for $5/each (we have two stories plus a basement and DNW to haul them up and down stairs if I can avoid it ha) and then a snap n go stroller and play yard for $20/each, all in great condition. Those were the last few things on the list so I'm excited to check them off!

Moving down the to-do list! Feeling better now about the thought of this kid coming at any point. ☑️ Ordered registry items for the discount ☑️ Order breast pump ☑️ Set up crib (Arm's Reach co-sleeper, we use like a mini PNP) ☑️ Fix our bench so there's seating in our living room ☑️ Wash newborn clothes and swaddles ☑️ Wash blankets, sheets, Boppy covers ☑️ Hang photos on walls
Still on this weekend's list: ◻️ Make baked ziti for freezer ◻️ More banana bread/muffins for freezer ◻️ Breakfast burritos for freezer ◻️ Install second car seat in my car ◻️ Hang paintings and photos in J's room

The mom guilt at up ending my kids’ lives by throwing a new sibling at them in the next two weeks is very strong today. 😪 I think DS1 will be okay because he’s been through this before even if he doesn’t truly remember, but I worry how DS2 is going to be with no longer being the baby in the family 😭

Not signing C up for preschool or potty training him yet or getting rid of his paci. We haven't even brought K home yet and I don't think he knows any different but I feel like I'm not doing enough for him. It sucks.

The last couple of weeks has been rough with mom guilt here as well. I am an older child so I should know it turns out of but I just keep thinking I am going to some how ruin E. He is so happy and well adjusted and loved and what if this baby changes all of that???? I know it’s not logical but here we are.

It’s definitely a weird time. I remember feeling so guilty when DD was born, we had a really rough transition from 1 to 2 kids. DS was just getting his ASD diagnosis and did not handle the new baby well. I think it took until DD started having a little personality that it clicked she always belonged.
We did a sibling class at the hospital this weekend and DD was super excited, DS is still meh.. I know we’ll be okay, but I’m expecting another trying couple months and guilt.

Add me to the worried about adding another kid to the mix club. R has been an only for over 4 years now. He gets 100% of our attention. I'm not feeling guilty for bringing a sibling into the mix, I'm just nervous about how he will ultimately react because the change will be so huge for him and I don't know the best/right way to deal with it.

I had major mom guilt with my other pregnancies but not so much with this one. Well, if I did, it was short-lived! I think DS, being the first boy on both sides of the family in a long time, is so freaking spoiled (yeah...) that it will be good for him. And having DD1 and DD2 so excited makes it so much more exciting in general! Every day they ask if she's coming out yet haha wish I knew 😜

Piling on to the questions and emotions around the current kid losing their "only" status. I am the oldest of three and I LOVE my sisters and we had the best time growing up so I know how amazing siblings can be. I just keep reminding myself of that.
