My contractor caught the mouse! That fucker ate the bottom of 2 couches, part of M’s anywhere chair and chewed a hole in the middle of my purple couch from college.

That is one destructive mouse, wow! I'm super jealous of the fall like temps waitwhat. This week has been unbearably hot, though I'm hoping (probably in vain) that this is the last consistent stretch of hot weather.

I think our nice weather is over. It's overcast right now and it's supposed to start raining tonight and continue raining through most of next week. Which is great since we're of course going to an outdoor concert tomorrow night and I have a Spartan run tomorrow morning.

Hi can we play "Who's the asshole"
So 1.5ish years ago I borrowed an old booster seat from a coworker. Coworker doesn't have kids, it was an old seat she used when she babysat her niece, who was now outgrown it, so she wasn't using it anymore (so at the time, booster seat was already a few years old). Anyway, I borrowed it for a week and then let her know I was finished with it and asked when/where I could return it to her (she had dropped it off to me initially, and we work at different programs now so I couldn't just return itt to her at work). She told me "don't worry about it" because she doesn't use it anymore anyway. So I toss it in storage. TODAY, well over a year later, she sends me a text asking for it. I looked for it and told her I can't find it and it's been so long that it could have gotten mixed up with our donate stuff. She waited a little while then said OK.
Am I an asshole for not offering to replace it? If she asks me to I probably will because I don't have the energy to deal with the drama otherwise. But I cannot imagine myself asking for it to be replaced if I was her - like a year and a half after telling someone "don't worry about it" I would just consider it theirs and wouldn't have even sent the message asking for it back anyway.

You're not an asshole and replacing it under these circumstances would be over the top, so definitely don't volunteer to do so. lol

Thanks elle. I didn't think I was wrong, but most people who are wrong also don't think they are wrong lol.

Thanks elle. I didn't think I was wrong, but most people who are wrong also don't think they are wrong lol. That's true. And if she had ever indicated she wanted/expected it back, then I'd agree that you'd need to replace it. But she didn't, and even went so far as to say "don't worry about it". It's also possible she was asking on the off chance you'd still have it, without the expectation. I don't know, maybe I'm unusual, but any time I hand over used items I never expect them back. And if I did, I explicitly state I wanted (whatever) back. Stuff gets worn out with use and you aren't entitled to a replacement because someone else got the last bit of use out of an item. That's just life.

danib as soon as she said don’t worry about it, I would consider that your seat. Does she expect you to just store her property for 1.5 years?? Kinda similar situation, a friend gave me some baby girl clothes before we knew O was a boy. When we found out the sex, I asked if she wanted them back? She said no, so I gave them to a friend that was having a girl. Months later she asked me for the clothes to give to one of her friends. Ummm sorry, they are gone.

Perfect. I will let my conscience rest. Maybe she was just asking on the off chance I still had it.

danib, playing devil's advocate here (kind of) could she have asked just hoping you did still have it (most people are mild hoarders) and when you said no, that was it. Her delay was more of a darn... okay I have to figure something else out? (I don't think that's a devil's advocate position but I don't know)

danib I've had so much given to me that I've donated or sold. SIL recently asked for baby seats back that she gave us years ago. It was for a cousin who was coming to visit. We either took them in for the Target seat exchange or I gave them to my mom to use in her car. When she said don't worry about it, I would definitely consider that to mean it was yours now.

It's so hard to read nuance over text and it was really unexpected I was caught off guard.

I’m mildly panicking! We’re leaving for vacation this Friday, DH doesn’t get him till Thursday around noon, neighbor kid’s birthday party is tomorrow, I have a last minute church meeting also tomorrow as I’m in charge, I have work till Wednesday, and because we’re going away the school district bumped up our referral meeting to this Wednesday afternoon!
I’m trying to pack light but I also need to layer, I can’t find our vacation club badge holders and I do t want to buy new ones, can’t find our door magnet, and the worst part is I had them out in sight for months and now they are nowhere!?! Probably put somewhere when guests were coming over! 😱😱😱

We've had a giant dog kennel in our garage for 7 years because it was loaned to us and MH won't get rid of it in case the person asks for it back. Despite the fact that he hasn't talked with the woman (former boss of a part time job he had) for at least 2 years now. And even then, we tried to give it back multiple times and each time she would just say "oh, we'll figure something out later".
Dog kennels aren't cheap, so I know that's why he doesn't want to get rid of it but I'm tired of it taking up room in the garage.

jubilantsquirrel would he call her and be like "hey we don't have the space for this anymore, can we give it back now or should we just sell/donate it?"

jubilantsquirrel would he call her and be like "hey we don't have the space for this anymore, can we give it back now or should we just sell/donate it?" He probably could. Apparently he ran into another former coworker not too long ago who said former boss is going through a divorce and has moved back in with her parents. So, I have a feeling she doesn't even remember we have the kennel.

I told M we’d see Dora this weekend so it looks like that’s on the agenda for today. I need to finish laundry and meal prep, too. Then we’ll head to my in laws to swim and eat dinner.

Today is K's due date. Crazy she's almost a month old.
We dropped C off at my ILs today. His cousins are there so he'll have fun. I think it'll just be a quiet day at the NICU today. Still just keeping her comfortable until we can take her breathing tube out tomorrow. I can't wait.

So we went to my brothers for a family clambake yesterday. It was 65ish degrees so perfect weather. My kids were dying to go in the pool and I couldn’t believe that they did. We ended up staying over because everyone was having so much fun and the wine was flowing. I’m exhausted today. I have chili cooking and am doing laundry and I may take a nap.
Oh, J got stung by a bee yesterday. No reaction thankfully. First bee sting.

Back at work. I could have used a few more days to do work around the house. Trying to get shit done with the kids at home this weekend was basically impossible.
Oh, when we pulled the wet bar and cut into the subflooring to cap the plumbing we found that our drier vent was unhooked and just dumping hot air and lint between the joists. So that was a neat discovery.

Well Sam had to clean it up, my job was yard work. lol But with a shop vac I think it went relatively quickly.
