I'm so sorry cookswithwine, toddlers are really trying at the best of times and O has had his life dramatically changed which I'm sure is not helping. May I ask what are the arguments/conflict centered around? With A I'm finding she's really wanting to assert some independence, but that isn't always possible for obvious reasons. But it makes sense if you think about it, we tell her when to get up, what to wear, what to eat, when to play, when to nap and so on and so forth. I've started trying to incorporate as many choices into her day as possible, like giving her two options for breakfast, etc. She still of course acts out and some days it's nothing but a series of whines and complaints which wears both H and I out. So I definitely say things like "I still love you but I don't like the way you're acting" or "we don't hit people (throw toys, etc), we use our voices and words to tell people what we want/need." Interestingly I find when she's acting out she is in need of hugs and reassurance and attention. This may not apply to O at all since his struggles could very well be related to having a new (and very dependent) sibling. Just thought I'd let you know you are far from alone in experiencing this kind of frustrating behavior.

cookswithwine M went through the same thing. Part of it is a normal phase and part of it is because he’s not getting all of your attention anymore. It’s extremely frustrating. Can y’all attempt to get any one on one time with him? It won’t solve the problem completely but it might help some. For the phase portion, I do what elle suggested and offer choices so they feel like they’re somewhat in control. It’s really difficult to have a toddler and newborn. I promise it will get easier.

elle it’s normally when we are asking him to do part of his routine, like use the potty, brush your teeth, put on you jammies, etc. Sometimes it’s when he’s doing something he’s not supposed to and we tell him to stop, like sitting on the coffee table or jumping on the couch. tgrimes it’s nice to know M went through something similar. I have noticed a little jealousy lately... yesterday D smiled for the first time at me so I was making a big deal about it and O was like, look mommy I’m smiling too! Similar thing happened a couple more times throughout the day.

Today was B’s First day of school. He was so excited and even happy while walking in to his classroom but once he realized J and I were not staying he started to cry. He was all smiles at pick up though! And he was so happy telling me that he ate all his snack and sang songs.

K is out of surgery! Doctor said it was uneventful which is exactly what you want to hear. She's back in the room now. They're keeping her sedated for a bit to keep her calm and comfortable. Extractions will start Saturday morning.

It has been a day. Drop off for B was great. No tears and he was happy to go back. I had to drag J outta there kicking and screaming because he wanted to stay at B’s School. Even thought I tried to tell him he would be going to his own school he still pulled an epic tantrum. We went to his orientation and met his teachers and visited his classroom. He seems excited to go. I can’t wait for him to be someone else’s pain in the ass for 2.5 hours 3 days a week.

O has RSV and a double ear infection. I’m freaking out about D and the RSV. The ped told us to keep them separated... which is impossible. So my mom offered to keep O for a couple nights. I feel guilty shipping him off but I know someone who’s newborn got RSV and they were in the hosp for 5 days!

And it's great you have someone close you can trust to watch him for a few days and on such short notice no less.

See tgrimes , no vagina juices in my confession. 😂 Umm.. what? lol Yesterday there was some disgusting things in the UO. Somehow it got brought up that in a sex show 5 people ate a peeled banana out of a performer's vag. Multiple comments were made and it sort of ended with vagina juice. All were appalled. elle said she had a confession today and I told her it better not have anything to do with vagina juices.

My contractors are back today putting weather stripping on the doors and hopefully haul away the trash on my patio.
Then we have a birthday party at the pool around 4. I think I might have to get in this time because it’s hot as balls already.

It feels like fall here and I love it! We have a clambake today at my brothers and I need to figure out a way to keep my kids out of the pool because I do not want to go in. Other than that we don’t have much going on. Tomorrow my H is going out to watch football during the day so o need to figure out something to do with the kids.

I'm at home with C this morning and H went to the hospital to be with K. I didn't have a bunch of chores to do this time so I've been playing with C, making food and doing small things in the kids rooms. I think after lunch we'll head to the hospital.

Jealous waitwhat I can’t wait for fall temps so I can start taking D on walks. I have already been drinking pumpkin beer so that’s fall-ish. My mom says O is doing good and you wouldn’t know he’s sick unless you know him. That makes me feel better. D has been fussy today. He’s only been happy if I’m holding him so I’ve been stuck in the recliner. Some friends invited us over to their new place tonight. Since O is already staying with my parents we are going to go w D.
