Taitai glad you made it home... just in time to take care of your DS. I hope you’ve found some relief as well. Airplanes just circulate that germs air 😝 codex320 I hope M feels better soon- sick littles are truly the worst (and most pitiful) curmudgeon I’d definitely invite the whole class if it’s just 8 kids! A petting farm sounds awesome too!

School and the girls have been keeping me super busy. Just normal life stuff but it feels crazy nevertheless.
We got DD2’s test results back (it took a bit of calling 😑). I asked them to fax the results to work because I didn’t quite understand everything on the phone today but nothing came through by the time I left. I can’t remember how many panels or whatever they ran when we were there but one of them came back normal, one came back low (which *could* be normal for her age but also might be concerning), and then this big important panel then ran came back “lab error” and needs to be run again. That specific panel will determine if the other panel that came back low is truly concerning or more normal.
Clear as mud right?!?! 😜 Hence why I asked for a fax of the results. I have tried to stay off of google since we heard some of the stuff towards the end of last week with varying degrees of self control.
So - DD2 and I are headed back to the children’s hospital this Thursday to run the last panel (all 1.5 hrs away for a 1 minute blood draw - but the draw is only covered by insurance if we have it there because the American health care system sucks) so I am taking the whole day and we will head to the zoo afterwards — gotta get good use of the membership!

This year he told me he wanted to be an angler fish and I've already aske numerous times. If it’s only 8 kids, I’d definitely invite the whole class. Might be nice to get to know the other parents too! Granted - parties where I live are crazy, so my opinion might be skewed. 🤣 Have fun on your date night!! haha well we are getting a petting zoo to come and H has stated we should extend the invite to “get our money’s worth.” 😂 I hope you and S2 feel better soon! Not everyone will show up but then again, what parent wouldn't go to an exotic petting zoo party You must keep us posted. If I was anywhere near, I would invite myself!

I am clearly broken, I was invited to a ladies brunch this weekend and to a casual pool GTG with DS and I chose to go to the latter. Luckily I managed to squeeze into my 1 piece swimsuit and put aside being self conscious and DS and I both had a BLAST! I haven't been to a pool and it was DS' first time and he took to the water like a fish. I am seriously considering swim lessons for him so he can rescue hubs and I lol! I never learnt to swim but can sorta stay a float. Hubs absolutely according to him cannot float. When I told DS we were going to hang out at his PreK buddy's pool, he asked if there were going to be fish in it and that he was going to dive and stay at the bottom of the pool! Dude had no idea hahaha. I was also able to sustain some actual chats with DS' friend's mom which was really nice since we have a lot in common.

School and daycare are closed tomorrow bc of a tropical storm. I didn’t even know we had a storm. The annual flooding is coming late this year.

duskymonkey our hospital system (and their connecting pedi office) went bankrupt midsummer - right before our all these appts and testing. It means I’ve really had to step up my game and play advocate/parent/other right now as there is no pedi here currently. Nearest pediatrician is 40 minutes out. A nurse practitioner (who I’m sure is wonderful but have never met before) is servicing children at the local primary care center and will see DD2 for her 2 yr checkup (I can’t believe they’ll be two soon!!!!). Rural healthcare problems at its finest here curmudgeon I didn’t know there was a tropical storm either 🤷♀️ Hopefully the rain is minor for you all and you hear nary a whine or cry from anyone tomorrow

Any thoughts, prayers, juju, and positive energy you can send our way tomorrow would be great. The blood panel DD2 gets tomorrow is a big one and these results will determine our next steps - like a bone marrow biopsy. Her white blood cell counts are too high for some cells, too low for others, and just not all exactly where they’re supposed to be. I keep telling myself that the last two times she got blood draws she got sick in a few days and so those counts were off because her body was trying to fight infections we didn’t yet know she had. I’m having a hard time thinking about the other reasons her white blood cells might be off. Anyway, I’ve tried to refrain from talking about it (both in real life and here) till we know definitive results but extra thought, prayers, and energy tomorrow should would appreciated. (Ignore the mess 😂 the rice table is both their favorite toy and also the messiest - hence why the floor looks covered. It vacuums easily thank goodness! 😬🤷♀️)

Oh danvers I will be thinking of you and your daughter. I’m bad at words, but I hope they are able to solve all the mysteries and that all her counts are normal, or if it is something, it is something super easy to fix.

They canceled schools and all extracurriculars for nothing. I know they are overly cautious since Harvey, but we probably didn’t even get 2” of rain today. Now they may stay canceled tomorrow because it’s supposed to gear back up overnight. I can’t do another day home with everyone. So H can stay home again while I go in.
Since I was home all day I embraced the cooler temps the rain brought (a cool 78 degrees 😝) and made pumpkin bread. It’s cooling but I can’t wait to try it.

Thinking of you all danvers. I'm praying her test results give a perfect picture of her health so that the next steps are clear. Keep us posted - have fun at the zoo afterwards! cythe yikes that's a lot of moolah. I'm glad you can be toasty now though. We replaced our A/C unit earlier this year but that "only" cost $4k. We also had to replace our hot water heater, kitchen sink faucet, and over-the-stove microwave. It seems like everything breaks at the same time in our house.

After working a ton of extra days the last couple weeks I now have 6 days in a row off and I’m pretty stoked. Currently washing newborn clothes and newborn diapers and I dug the bucket seat out. I’m hoping to get myself a birth Center bag packed and place an amazon order for the couple things we need in the next couple days too. I am 35.5 weeks and other than picking names we had done literally nothing to get prepared so I feel better getting a few things done at least!

DD2 did fine at the appt this morning. She screamed bloody murder long before they started drawing blood but immediately turned off the tears as soon as they brought out doggie stickers. We should know results next week.
The zoo was a great distraction afterwards (for her and me). I guess I forgot that everyone is back in school now 🤦♀️ 🤷♀️ so it was empty and all the animals were super active. DD2 loved it as she very much prefers animals over people.

danvers I am so happy that the blood draw went okay, and your DD2 is a real champ!! It’s great that you two were able to have a nice time at the zoo afterwards too. I hope this next week passes quickly and that the test result give you clear answers (and how to proceed next if necessary). Hugs. curmudgeon What a bummer about the school closings. I hope you guys avoid any damage - I heard there was some flooding in your area. Didn’t really bad flooding happen last year too? duskymonkey I would have choose a pool party with my kid over a mom’s brunch too! Sounds like you had a blast - highly recommend swimming lessons too! DS1 is a little fish and loves going to his lessons. He’s gotten really good at driving too 👍

Taitai seems like we get flooding every year. It just gets later and later each time. Luckily I’m far enough south that the heaviest part passed over me. But it flooded downtown and my office location. I think there were some boat rescues going on. I wish the city would do something to minimize the flooding, but with all the concrete and people packed in as tight as can be, I’m scared there’s not much to be done.

curmudgeon Ugh - that sucks about the continual flooding. I hope they get serious about finding a solution - the cost is just going to grow year over year. Where I live is prone to flooding all the time too, and it totally sucks. They’ve installed pumps in the city to alleviate the issue, but with rising sea levels and climate change, I’m not super optimistic for the future.

I have been meaning to mention this to danvers - I finally saw the Captain Marvel movie during my last business trip....and....I thought it was not great 😬. Maybe I had too high of hopes for the movie, but I thought Brie Larsen played Captain Marvel really...flat. Like, no emotion, just not very interesting to watch at all. The other characters were fine, but I thought the main character was lacking. Is her character really rigid and kind of straight in the comics? I have no familiarity beyond the movie, so maybe I’m missing something? Figure you would know, since you’re a big fan!

Well you’re wrong. 😝 it actually didn’t get great reviews but I maintain Captain Marvel was amazing and a great addition to the Marvel canon. I do think it lacked some of the humor that some of the other Marvel films embraced and it helped them not fall so flat. Captain Marvel is a badass in the comics though and I look forward to seeing where the Marvel universe takes her next.

We went to a joint bday part for my niece and nephew and I am trying very hard not to be a judgy bitch because SIL eats crackers Anyway. One kid’s bday was in Aug. and one is Nov. so the joint party already seems weird. There’s lots of kids (8 and under) drinking Mt. Dew and I have feelings about that. General lack of supervision I am not comfortable with but I know to each his own.
I own my judgyness. I am fully aware all these children will grow up and be fine. Plus also I guarantee every single one of them are judging H and I for our parenting here. We are certainly the odd ones out for making our kids drink water, quartering their hotdogs and grapes, and limiting their candy to 1 piece. Party poopers right here.

danvers if quartering hotdogs and grapes is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I will cut any round choking hazard food until my kids are 15 if I can. 😆 And we are also a water family here. DS will ask for sprite maybe once every 3 months or so and we will let him get one. At bday parties he always asks for water. I would silently judge Mt Dew too. Yuck.

Today was a hard parenting day. E is still figuring out words and how they relate to her asking for things, so we are still in the land of many many screeches. Today it was top of her lungs, glass shattering screeches and I just could not. Also, H was driving me bananas and he too seemed to hit all my buttons. Anyway, it was just a long day.

curmudgeon glad you weren't in the area where Imelda crossed but still lots of damage and it does seem to get worse every year. Taitai Bangkok is such an old city and the Chao Phraya river has historically spilled it's banks and they don't have an established infrastructure to deal with the flooding with modern urban structures. The East coast of my country gets the brunt of the monsoon every year. The people have learnt to live for generations with it and adapted their homes to live through floods and high waters. It still is a tragedy when it happens, nothing escapes the wrath of mother nature. We just have to figure out and learn the best way to live with it. cythe , I am totally cringing at your new heater cost. However was this the cause for all the CO leaking? Well at least it didn't happen in the dead of winter. Upstate NY winters are no joke. danvers , you and your gals are right at home in my house, I am pretty sure all the parents in my neighborhood think I am super parenoid ( not a wrong spelling! ) Also thinking of DD2. ETA. DS recently started drinking "soda" and only when we have company which isn't too often and will sip a little of hubs or mine. He thinks the flavored seltzers are "sodas"

We're on the other end of the spectrum though, he will tell me what he wants and sometimes it's not a good idea and I won't allow it and he gets all tantrumy cos he's able to communicate..."I want it...I WANT IT!" Waaaaahhhhh! Lately he seems to be unable to decide what he wants and will argue with me. Me: Green frog , green frog Lil F: No no it's not a green frog Me: If it's not green then what color is it Lil F: It's Red Me: Fine if you say so...Red frog ( I am pass arguing with him at this point ) LilF: No no it's not Red, it's green Me: ok...it's green....green frog Lil F: No no it's not green and this can keep going on and on.

My eyes are twisted all last week from reading amended contracts going back and forth, back and forth but as of tomorrow I will be officially under contract to sell my house. I am so nervous. This happened so fast and we had other plans but it'll all even out at the end of the day if the contract goes through. We didn't even get to list the house. Crazy! doodlemommy August Blooms I need all your good jujus!
