Sorry I am sketchy and just pop in and out randomly. We are deep in throes of trying to sell our house and that seems pretty difficult with two tiny tornadoes tearing everything up at every opportunity. We did bigger 1st bday parties for each boy and DS1 has just had brunch with grandparents for 2nd and 3rd birthday parties. I think this year they will get a joint party since their birthdays are like 12 days apart. I was looking at a hotel swimming party since both boys LOVE the water but that kind of depends on if we sell the house or not because it isn't cheap. Otherwise it will remain status quo and just brunch with the grandparents. DS1 would be fine with that since he already told me what restaurant he wants to go to

We have done like 2 actual parties in DD’s 5 years. Going out and doing stuff is better when they are younger, IMO, because it isn’t like they will remember much anyway. I think this year we may do a Disneyland trip for bdays! Fun!! I took DD last year just before she turned 3, so will do the same next year before DS turns 3. She still talks about it! Even though we live close, I don’t want passes because I want it to be special when we do go Same here! We went for DD1's 4th bday, so DD2 was only a couple months old. I think we may go again in the winter when DD is 6. I don't really want to go any more often than every couple years, if that.

Ds1 had his first day of kindergarten today. He had a rough start but when he got home he said he had a good day. He seemed super tired tonight too, and I know he’ll just need some time to adjust.
I really want to do something low-key for C’s birthday. I’m just tired of throwing big parties for Ds1, and figure we still have a year or two before C knows what’s going on. I’m planning on doing just a dinner with close family.

I’ll admit I am spoiled that way. 15 is pretty average here but I've had as low as 12 and as high as 18. I am definitely grateful that I only have 14 of these wild boys and not 24+. I have friends who have had as many as 27 in Mass.

The district I just left the max class size was supposed to be 30 but up to 32 was pretty standard. It boggles my mind to only have a class of 14!

Ds1 has had 3 days of kindergarten and he’s cried every morning at drop off so far. Ugh. His teacher told me that he’s fine a few minutes later and does really well throughout the day, but he told me that he doesn’t like school because it’s “boring” and he misses C too much. I feel so bad for him and hope this stage passes quickly.
DH and I are off on a little weekend getaway to Mpls/St. Paul. We have concert tickets tomorrow and I’m so excited to eat lots of delicious food, drink lots of drinks, and sleep in.

Have fun this weekend, pootsen! Tomorrow will be a big day for N - first swim lesson in the morning, and his first birthday party in the afternoon (friend from DC). Which reminds me, gotta go to Target and get a present. H is working tomorrow so I'll be taking N to the party solo. We really haven't hung out with other parents with kids N's age... is it weird I'm a little nervous?

I can barely control 2 at a time. Double digits blows my mind

I might go to work for a bit tomorrow. I should see when the football game is too. Not a lot of plans this weekend. Possibly a pool/football get together Sunday.
It’s hot here, so I tried to drive the kids for nap time, but ds wakes when I’m parked, so they only lasted an hour. Now we are home trying to stay in our 80 degree House.
DD is going through a phase of dreading swim lessons before we go, but doing great when we are there. She is learning/working on 3 new strokes. We are taking the winter session off and I might have her try dance or gymnastics, then start back up with both kids in January.

We are taking B for his first haircut today 😭😭. I’m not ready but I know it gets hot and we’ve gotten asked recently if he was a girl so H has wanted to cut it for like a month. But B’s mullet game is strong.

DS1 has his first soccer game today! It’s actually a tournament so he has 2 games today and 1 tomorrow. My H has to work but was able to get approved to leave so he can come watch the first game-he is surprisingly sentimental about this. I’m hoping ds2 cooperates because I’ll be solo at game 2.
@rooksie ds2 is getting his first haircut on Tuesday- he’s got a few cute baby curls that I don’t want to cut but he looks like a hot mess at the end of the day so it’s time. My H has also wanted to cut his hair for quite a long time.

My H has also wanted to cut his hair for quite a long time. B has had “crunchy curls” all summer from the sweat and his hair is in his eyes again. I’ve already trimmed his bangs once. I’m really hoping he does get my curly hair some day. I’m just not ready for him to look like he’s 2, but we have family pictures and daycare pictures soon.

And the cloud cover hasn’t even burnt off yet. ☀️

Survived first day of swimming lessons. Luckily A went into their kidwatch and did pretty good. I had to swap out the big boys and he was pissed when I took 2 & 3. Towards the end, DS1 was in with him, he bit a kid on the arm and then himself, so that sucks. I felt horrible for the little one he bit. Hopefully he doesn’t do it again.

Its 2pm and I’m exhausted! I ran 11 miles this morning, and then my H and I just spent the last 2.5 hours cleaning out our basement and filling a dumpster. We just took a break for lunch, and E should be waking up from her nap soon, so hopefully I can get out of helping anymore down there today. Haha. I do have to grocery shop at some point, though.

Hello! We are having a nice day here. I had a swim lesson with DD2 this morning. She was fine until she saw her sister having a snack on the bench outside the pool, and wanted one herself. 🙄 Then I put her in child care, and DD1 has gymnastics. I did a 30 minute bike ride for part of it, but still got to watch her for a few minutes which was nice. We played on the playground for a bit, but it was super hot, so not too long.
We relaxed during nap time, and I think we are heading out to dinner. C has been difficult while dining out, so hopefully her nap was sufficient, and she doesn’t have a meltdown. She likes the chips at Mexican restaurants, so I think she will be fine.

We went to a big BBQ at my parents tonight. My dad's customers, neighbors, friends, family etc. It was about 100 people. We all had a great time, DD didn't get to bed until 8:30, she was beat and very dirty from playing in the gravel driveway 🙄 DH stayed a bit longer, but I think he's on his way home now.

Ds1 did great at his soccer tournament! They don’t technically keep score at this age but they won each game. Today is a cold, dreary fall day- highs in the 60s but we will be back to mid-80s Tuesday. Tonight I’m going to do a chicken cordon bleu bake to match the weather. I’m hoping both boys nap soon so I can too!

I think I’m going to sign up ds for a soccer camp thing that is at the park nearby. It’s probably good to introduce her to different activities and this would be easy.

That means it would be all on me to get him there, dinner, and wrangle E. 2. The kid JUST started all day kindergarten. He is wiped when he gets home and when he's tired he is a monster. I do not need to add another activity on his plate when he's just starting to navigate school. NO THANK YOU. lol

N had a great time at his swim lesson! He definitely cried the first few minutes in the pool, and hated the one time he was put on his back, but otherwise wound up loving it so much he refused to get out! If you follow me on IG there's a short video. H said he had a lot of fun being with him in the pool - sometimes he feels like N prefers me over him (probably because I'm around more because of H's work schedule), so I'm glad they are getting some daddy/son bonding time. He also had fun at his friend's birthday party - it was just him and the birthday boy (he tends to get over-excited so his parents wanted to keep it low-key), so they played outside, ate some nuggets and ice cream cake, played with his presents, and called it a day. Happy as a clam, and N passed out SO HARD at both nap and bedtime Tried to keep yesterday easy since Saturday was so busy. We ran to Target for a few things, and in the less than 30 seconds between the front door and the car, N managed to get a bug bite on his face, on the cheek just below his right eye. I put some stuff on it when we got home, and it seemed fine but when he woke up this morning the lower part of his eye was a little puffy (like enough to be noticed but not enough to interfere with his vision - he probably rubbed it during the night). So we've now had a black eye, two irritated bug bites, two new teeth, and a random fever in the last three weeks - hopefully we've hit our "It's always something" quota for now and he'll be OK for a while LOL
