So, DS is having trouble with solids. He usually has fine head control but when he’s in the high chair and I’m feeding him he isn’t really lifting his head to accept the spoon. I should stop and wait a few weeks, right? He’s 5 months + 1 week. He’s up to 7 oz/bottle, 5x/day so I felt he needed more to eat, but I think he’s not ready? DD does better at eating in her bouncy seat than sitting straight up. The bouncy seat was a recommendation by a child development person that evaluated DD at daycare. Maybe try that and see if your DS eats better that way? I didn’t think of this! This is a great idea, thank you!

I never would have thought of it either if that child development lady hadn’t suggested it!

I just had M’s 6 month check up and I’m a little annoyed by two things his doctor said but maybe I’m just grumpy today. She said he needs to be eating food 3x/day now which seems crazy to me, he tolerates a small amount of a purée in the evening but certainly isn’t excited about it so why would I want to increase so much, we only started a month ago. Then she said he doesn’t need to eat overnight and I should be letting him CIO basically. He wakes up once to eat which I don’t think is bad and I’m just not sure if I want to sleep train or not. Maybe these are normal things to recommend, I have no idea I’m just bothered for some reason. End rant 😝 My pedi basically said to simply offer solids/ purées when H and I are having meals (so 3x a day) to get him on our “this is when we eat” schedule. Granted my kid loves all the solids but it’s worked for us. We do CIO to put him to bed but during the night, we feed him/ rock him/ walk around with him. CIO at 2am just isn’t in the cards right now.

bex15 I think one wakeup at night to feed is still really normal at this age, although some babies can go longer. Really I think it's up to you if you want to continue to wake or not. We still wake 1x per night to feed. I'm sure they can go longer, but like lemondrop CIO in the middle of the night is so much harder than at bedtime for me. Regarding solids, we are dabbling with 3x per day but they only have a few spoonfuls each. Mostly to get them on "our" food schedule. But it's definitely not required at this age, I don't think. With DD we started with one meal at 6 months, 2 at 7 months, and finally 3 by 8 months. I would have probably done the same this time, but the daycare they are in offers it, so why not I guess. I don't think there's a wrong or a right. One of my guys loves food and the other can take it or leave it.

I feel ya. N seems to have gotten 2 stomach viruses back to back. At least it has cooled down so I can sit outside to feed her, but I might have ptsd. I jump every time she burps.

Sorry for all the sick babies! Hope everyone gets healthy ASAP.
As for us, DS likes to perform his accomplishments in secret. I missed his roll from belly to back a few weeks ago, and last night we were all laying on the floor and DD turned out the light. I asked her to turn in back on, and in that moment when it was dark DS rolled from back to belly. 😂😂

Add Leroy to the sick kid crew. He has double ear infections but after one day of being pitiful he seems in good spirits. Hope everyone perks up soon.
