Js birthday was yesterday and he had a great day. We had breakfast then eent to the park, walked around campus, had lunch at a buffet he likes, walked the bridge, then went to Starbucks on campus which just reopened and he saw his college buddies. Put him down for nap which he refused...i think he was having too much fun. Left him in the for an hour, he only cried the last 5 minutes. Went to pick up groceries and he fell asleep. I successfully transferred him from carseat to crib for a 30 minute power nap. Then dinner at home with cake which he freaking loved. Finished the night with a walk on campus where they had a magician which we watched.
Oh i forgot the morning. He came into the living room with his milk, saw the presents, and sat down next to them just looking at them lol. He is loving his lawnmower and isnt sure about the balance bike.
He said several new words this week including thirsty....he said daddy thirsty which was hilarious. He also said tube, shoes, car, and cake so thats pretty good for someone who has less than 15 or 20 regular words. I feel like maybe we had a break through. We will see. 2 year appointment is tomorrow and daycare starts wednesday.

We have a lot going on this week/next week that I should be working on. But, the weather has been so nice that we’ve been outside playing with the neighborhood kids before school starts again.
My parents are coming for the long weekend on Friday, and we’re going to celebrate L’s birthday while they are here. We’re just going to do a fun outing & cupcakes/ice cream. I ended up ordering stuff to make a dress up trunk for her, bc she is constantly getting naked and putting on whatever clothes she can find.

I'm here. My new job is a bore so far and I have some family drama with my parents going on so that has me feeling blahhhhhh
M has been waking earlier and that combined with the late bedtime sucks. Go to sleep kid!

First week of teaching so I've been trying to get my course off the ground. DS1 starts school next week, twins are doing pretty well in EI so far. Other than that, the house hunting continues.

My ILs are in town for sort of the weekend. They got here Thursday afternoon and are leaving Sunday morning to “beat the Labor Day traffic” ....... except theyre retired and have no plans that they need to get back to. And they haven’t seen N in over 3 months for my MIL (and that was for less than 48hr- arrive Friday afternoon & leave sunday morning) and over a year for my SFIL. But it’s cool you can go visit your other son and his kids for a week at a time. So I’m irritated but whatever. DH is too, but he never says anything so I am trying to release it because what good comes of it.
N is loving having people over though. My parents were here for a week and my sister for half a week and he was so sad when they left. Now MIL is here and he is happy.
Question - how do your A17 kiddos - or, if multiple kids- your oldests- interact with other kids? I’m wondering about how N interacts and plays with other kids his age at the playspaces we go to and idk if my worries are valid or I’m just being OTT.

addymac j mostly parallel plays with other kids. However, in daycsre there are some older kids who play with him and he likes the interaction. He and a little girl kind of play together...they rub each others backs, run around each other, and follow each other on the playground. He also has a buddy when we go to the area playground. They follow each other around and sometimes high five but dont really play together yet. I realize its only been a week there but since across the hall i can pretty much see him all day lol.

addymac DS1 and Eva are very social with other kids - they will acknowledge, engage, and play in group. Donovan will sometimes acknowledge and participate, but mostly is own his own. He engages most with family members.

R bit her tongue at a playground, so we spent hours at Children’s Hospital eR after being sent by an urgent care. She didn’t need a stitch, but we have to be careful for a couple days on what she eats and how she drinks. She was so mad she couldn’t have a paci when she went to bed.

king26 we got a speech eval recommendation for toddler H as well at his 2 year old appt. He goes in for it Sept 16. He has to be 25 percent delayed to qualify for county services, so we'll see. I'm wondering how much me letting him continue to use his paci has contributed to this and feeling really guilty. He loves it so much; I feel bad taking it away right before the new baby comes. addymac My two boys are polar opposites on this. Ds1 has always been sooo shy of the other kids although it finally started getting better at four and now he interacts normally with the other kids at preschool. Toddler H is a hugger. He will go up to unknown kids and hug them and then want to follow them around along with the usual parallel play. I think there's such a wide range of behavior on this depending on personality. Ds1 is definitely a quiet thinker and DS2 is way more social. bsouls I'm glad she didn't need a stitch. That looks scary.

Yes i worry what the binky did for Js speech but we took it early june and while he does say a few words here and there and babbles a ton I dont know how much it hindered. Our speech eval is Friday. 8 day turn around but i work in special ed in our county and the girl who schedules the infants and toddler evals taught with me for a year so we got preference. We also need a 25% delay so we will see. Dh doesnt rhink he needs speech but i know he does.

king26. That's great you got in quickly. I'm not sure what I'll do if he ends up testing between the 20th and 24th percentile such that he doesn't qualify but there's a significant delay. I guess I would need to see how much insurance would cover for a private speech therapist at that point. I wonder about his hearing sometimes too bc some of his words are such approximations but others are perfect so I just don't know. My dh is exactly the same. "He's fine. He'll catch up." bsouls. I totally did not register that was blood on her shirt the first time I saw the pic. Poor thing!
