How’d he end up doing? It’s been harder for daycare to update in real time since he quit diapers. They are always good about a debrief at pickup, tho. I am frustrated with them because they took him to the potty once and he didn’t go, had two accidents with 1.5+ hours between them, and then they gave up and put him in diapers the rest of the day. OMG I'd be so pissed. I'm sorry.

No accidents today!! But how does a 2YO only pee twice in 9 hours? I’m pretty sure I peed twice as often as he did today.

How long should I give until I do away with diapers at night? He's been waking up dry for almost a full week now. I'm going to do cloth training pants for a while and not straight to underwear just in case, though I'm not sure how much those will hold if he were to have an accident.

I wouldn’t declare him day time potty trained yet and fully expected he wouldn’t wearing diapers to bed for a while.

I'm really lazy though and don't like changing sheets in the MOTN.

Im glad you made this thread piratecat , potty training is on my radar. DD will sometimes show readiness. But will say she doesn’t want to go potty. Was thinking about the next three day weekend trying it , but with low expectations I will catch up On the thread now. It's hard because it's one more thing you potentially fight them on and they have control over. We tried to be careful to balance having him sit and try anyway (there are certain times that are non-negotiable, like before nap/bed and before going out) and taking his word that he doesn't need to go (but always reminding him to listen to his body and to tell us when he needs to go).

So potty training is going well except he doesn't poop as often as he used to. He was always kind of a sporadic pooper - he will sometimes go a few days without pooping or poop several times in a day. He pooped regularly over the 3 days we started potty training but since then he won't go for 3-4 days, and never at daycare except the first poop accident on his first day back. I don't know that he is consciously withholding but should I be worried?

My friend’s kid would only poop in her nap or nighttime diaper when they started training. It could be a control thing or not being sure of going on the potty. I would push fiber rich foods though because I wouldn’t want him to get backed up.

When he goes, he's fine going in the toilet/potty, but maybe he doesn't feel as comfortable going in the toilet at daycare. I do worry about him getting constipated and the whole situation getting worse because of it. He eats a ton of fruit but I'll make sure he gets more fiber.

If you're concerned about constipation, the pediatric GI my daughter sees told us to put her on the potty for 5 min after every meal. She was in daycare and now school, so we only do it at night before she showers. No electronics, just books or talking. That way they relax and take the time to go, if they need to. It actually works for us. But it's much harder to get a toddler to sit still that long, so break out the ipad if need be. Lol.

The first 3 days we spent potty training he went around the same time in the morning every day but then stopped. He doesn't have any trouble sitting on the potty and reading for a while and we've done that a bunch of nights but he still doesn't go most of the time. Maybe we'll keep trying that though and at least give him a chance to go frequently.

We did pull ups at night just in case but dd had been staying dry over night for several months before we even started pt. That was my signal she was ready to try. I would personally give it at least a month of over night dryness before I went with just underwear, but I don't like stripping the bed and kid in the middle of the night lol.

I really need to get serious about this...daycare is really supportive. But DD’s interest is hit or miss.

Thanks for asking! She is doing so well with being pee trained! We still do diaper at nap and bedtime but she occasionally wakes up dry. She even held it on a 2 hour car ride. She still won’t poop on the potty so that’s a work in progress. How is it going at your house?

He hasn't had any accidents at home or out and about since day 2 but he still has some at daycare occasionally. I think he just has a hard time speaking up. I keep practicing with him at home but I don't know what else we can do about it. He's mostly fine as long as they just take him regularly. He still only poops every 3 days or so... He's in underwear for car rides so we've had a few panicked pit stops but I guess that's how it goes. We have a 6+ hour car ride this weekend so we'll see how that goes and how long it takes us to get to our destination.

I hope i just bought my last box of diapers before potty training Columbus Day weekend. When do you make the switch from pull ups to underwear ? That's totally up to you. Some kids will still pee in a pull up, so when you're serious about giving up the diapers, make the switch and don't turn back.

Ds only used pull ups the first couple weeks when in public, at home it was straight to underwear. But pull-ups did NOT work for him for naps, he just peed too much for them.

I think it depends on your approach and how she responds to it. We went straight to underwear but he still wears cloth training pants at daycare. He hasn't had any accidents in a while but it's not costing me any money so I haven't switched over yet.
