We watched two episodes of Supergirl simply because they had Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. And I think he fuckin killed it. I just wanted to look at his face but I was pleasantly surprised at how well he pulled off the dorky Clark Kent and bad ass Superman.
I have tried so hard to like Supergirl but I just couldnt get into it, so we just watched those two and are now watching the Elseworlds crossover with the Flash and Arrow.

Also Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) is not wrong about Tyler Hoechlins booty.
"Ohhh, watching Clark Kent walk away is like transcendental meditation. All of your worries, all of your concerns in life, they just ... fall away."

I never even made it through Season 1. I watched the first 2ish episodes and turned it off. I tried again when I saw they were doing a big crossover but I just couldn't get into it. Yes we got through part of season one. From what I hear it also turned pretty dark which is bleh for me. We watched the first two episodes of season 2 (Superman episodes) and they werent bad but I didnt like it enough to continue. For the crossovers I find that thankfully I dont have to be well versed in any of the shows to follow along because I am several seasons behind on Arrow and Flash as well. But this crossover has been pretty fun. Oliver and Barry were Freaky Fridayed and it was hilarious. They also intro'd Batgirl in this one. And now Superman in his black ensemble, yay! But again just watching for Tyler Hoechlin so Im not expecting much lol.

Im hoping the Disney ones are a little lighter but either way I know when the time comes we will definitely be watching.

The marvel shows were too dark for me. I think the know one I watched all of was Luke Cage. The way I understand it now is that the Disney Plus Marvel shows are directly controlled by Marvel Studios and will be totally integrated within the film universe (e.g., Kevin Feige) while Marvel TV was not (Loeb ran that division, I think). Whether that means the 'tone' will be pretty much like the MCU, I guess we'll see, but I would think so? I do know that I'm so so happy they didn't go with that Thanos throwing a decapitated Captain America head around. Yes, chilling, yes, we'd remember it for years, but good lord. comicbook.com/marvel/2019/08/09/avengers-endgame-decapitated-captain-america-thanos-scene-kevin-feige-explains-cut/

The marvel shows were too dark for me. I think the know one I watched all of was Luke Cage. This makes me glad I never really tried the marvel shows. I watched one episode of The Boys and knew I wasn't going to continue. Way too dark and honestly I don't like dark superhero stuff anyway. I want to see my superheroes punch out a few bad guys, save the world, and then go back and live in the communal tower where I can see hijinks and shenanigans of the sitcom variety.

The marvel shows were too dark for me. I think the know one I watched all of was Luke Cage. I liked the first season of Daredevil, but I get tired of really dark shows because they start to become misery porn and I have a minimal amount of time for TV and don't need to fill it all with depressing/graphically violent/gritty/angsty stuff. I watched a little of Jessica Jones and it was interesting, but again darker than I prefer. It's kind of my way of balancing the depressing things in the news, I get enough there and don't need it to fill my leisure time, too. I gave up on the Arrowverse for similar reasons (and just that things weren't as good as they were a year or two ago).

I was trying to articulate why I didn't like so much darkness in shows and ended up deleting it. This nails it right on the head.

Hmmm….assuming the Disney Plus shows are basically six-eight episodes and not recurring series, I wonder what approach they'll take. When I think about it, even 'fun' MCU movies like Guardians have extremely dark elements, but when it's an 'episode' every year or so, it's not so in your face, so to speak. But I guess I don't see Disney Plus shows, in general, being really dark and 'adult' - you know, not suddenly Game of Thrones levels of onscreen blood and betrayal.
Of course, with Loki I keep thinking about Loki saying the sun will shine again upon us, and wondering if his show sets this version of Loki up for Love and Thunder; and the reference to White Wolf maybe not being a throw away line in Black Panther. And I'm just confused on Wandavision but there for the ride.

I find a lot of tv I use to watch stresses me out now since I’ve had kids. I like some angst but they just take the darkness a bridge too far nowadays. *shakes old person cane*

My lady boner for him is endless. I haven't watched teen Wolf because it'll make me uncomfortable that they're in high school 😂 I know! Why do all these shows have to take place in HS? Derek (TH) isnt in high school in the show. I dont know if that makes it better or worse hahaha. But if you do ever give it a go Ill be there to fangirl endlessly with you. Season 3 is the best. Dylan O'Brien is at peak hotness. Well maybe not peak but close. And his acting is fucking outstanding.

You can totally watch just the crossover. I mean there is probably a few things that would make more sense if you were caught up but nothing that makes it less enjoyable. I also heard talk that the crossover was a test/backdoor pilot to test the waters of a Superman tv show depending on the reception of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. And it has been a warm reception. Also Supergirl is free falling in the ratings and they are also going to focus on her in DCEU movies since Henry Cavill is hanging up the cape on the big screen. Please for everything that is holy give me TH on my tv every week again.

And thats even with David Tennant as a star, and for me....that is saying something because my love for him is endless. And I think we got through one episode of Daredevil.

I was totally into the premise and it looked so good, but it just got to the point where I felt they were just trying to test out how extreme Netflix would let them push the envelope as far as the sex and violence went. Like 85% of it was unnecessary to the plot and it was just there for the sake of pushing limits and being edgy. Like almost seeing how desensitized we are to shit like that nowadays. I have been watching older shows with my sister like Smallville, Roswell, shit like that and its all so....soft I guess is the word Im looking for.

But then it just started to feel so hopeless. Like every big bad has to be worse than the next and nothing ever gets better and its just obstacle after obstacle and death after death. Like damn give me a show about people connecting, finding love and family, and getting happy endings, let them see the light at the end of the tunnel and not just as the final scene in the series finale.
