I don’t know how you all do camping in general, let alone with kids!

We're at a birthday party for one of DDs classmates and DD was the only kid from the class who showed up even of the ones who RSVP'd yes. My heart breaks for this little girl. Thankfully she really likes DD and they get along well so they are having a lot of fun. This is the second party from DC that we've been invited to and the second time this has happened! Wtf! How hard is it to text no? It's a text. My RSVP took a minute max to text. And it's not like you have to be besties and text back and forth or whatever. I fucking hate people. I'm pretty convinced we will never do a kid party and instead will just invite a few close friends for something special. I hate this. #1 How hard is it to RSVP? #2 Freakin show up when you RSVP yes. Last year 5 kids didn't show up that were supposed to attend my oldest's birthday. Not only did I have to pay for them regardless, but I busted my ass to get more party favors to make sure everyone had a bag. That’s awful! If we can’t make it after saying yes, I feel like crap for having to back out and always let the mom know (luckily, it has only happened once due to a high fever spiked that morning, but I still felt awful that she had to pay for him)

How much more do have left? Hopefully it goes by quick. 7 weeks. Induction is set for 6 weeks from this coming Thursday. Long story short- we got the call DS1 failed his remission trial for hypothyroidism, I took DS2 to the ENT and now am taking him for a hearing test tomorrow and his ENT follow up on Thursday to decide what to do, and DD failed her biophysical and was barely reactive during her NST. I drank so much juice trying to get her reactive that I spent two days feeling like crap. Holy crap you need a break! Do they have any idea what is up with DD or is baby just driving you crazy for no reason.

I called her a stubborn baby to my midwife, and her retort was “stubborn is NOT the word for her!” 😂🤦🏼♀️ This little girl has been giving me a run for my money this entire pregnancy so 🤷🏼♀️

My MIL watched J all day yesterday and I was worried about him not napping but he did great. She is also much more diligent about taking him to the potty. I guess we should step up our game.

I feel so conflicted about timing. I would be so glad to be done with diapers but at the same time being out and about with a toddler needing to go to the bathroom all the time seems like such a pain. Also using public bathrooms. Is it all of it not as bad as it seems in my head?

I still make my 5 yo cover her ears when I flush the toilet. We started potty training my youngest in March. At first, public outings sucked. I remember when he peed all over the booth at dinner. But he eventually got the hang of it. It is kind of scary at first, but it will become your routine, just like everything else has. We just make sure everyone pees before we leave the house. If we're out for a long period of time, we make sure to take them when it's been awhile.

I am far from a germaphobe but little kids in public bathrooms skeeve me out. When I have to take my kid with me to a public bathrooms I just repeatedly tell him not to touch anything.

I get it. Kids are gross. I took both of mine to the bathroom at the airport. After helping my son pull down his pants, he immediately leaned over and put his mouth on the toilet seat. WTF? So disgusting.

If it's any consolation, I heard that because there are so many germs on a toilet that they kind of cancel each other out and is not as gross as you'd think. I don't know if that would make me feel that much better but there you go.

Poor kid has had 47 ear infections. Anyway, you may be correct because he didn't get sick after this incident. Ha ha ha!

Is it all of it not as bad as it seems in my head? Definitely go right before you leave the house. We also got one of those foldable potty seats and keep it in a gallon ziploc in whatever bag we take. Oh Crap had the brilliant suggestion of bringing post-it notes to cover toilet flush sensors so they don't go off and freak the kid out. All that said, we've only had a handful of times where we've needed to use any of that. On the last day of PT before he went back to school, we did trial runs of errands. One was to the library, where I knew it would be nice and quiet and they have a tiny toilet in the kids' area. He gets so proud of using the potty, so he's generally very cooperative when we're out.

Toddlers are gross. My middle kid is touch all the things... Just make sure you bring hand sanitizer and extra undies/pants. Don't be afraid to throw an outfit away. I keep telling Mh by the time I have no spare unders/clothes in my purse it will be time for me to carry a set for myself. The joys of parenting.

Is it all of it not as bad as it seems in my head? It's worse. Imagine you just got a cart full of something when all of a sudden your toddler has to go RIGHT NOW. And the bathrooms are at the farthest point of the store from where you are. Or not in the store, because you're in a mall - so you have to get across the mall. Or you're out somewhere where the only options are portapotties. Or you're in a car stuck in rush hour traffic and can't get off the freeway. Or at a theme park where you've been waiting in line for 30 minutes and JUST got to the front of the line. And then there are the issues with kids who get frightened by automatic flushing toilets or the hand dryers...... My favorite? My oldest son's 1st grade field trip this year. The bus was supposed to pick us up at point A, but they went to point B instead. We had to wait 45 minutes for them to get to us. I kept checking with the kids to see if they needed to go to the bathroom during that 45 minutes, because it was up the street and around the corner. No one had to go. Until we were boarding the buses.... I honestly don't know why people complain about diapers, they made life so much easier. Plan on adding 30 minutes to every outing and 5 hours to every roadtrip.

I think dd might be ready and I should just do it but I don’t want to go back to the crazy first few months of a potty training/freshly trained kid. We’re so busy right now it makes me shudder to think about it. It sucked but was manageable other one kid but having to drag the older kid with us for the little’s bathroom emergencies? Ugh. Everything billyhorrible said basically. The car potty was very helpful. Some of the places we go to regularly don’t have bathrooms or they are very far away (like the arboretum).

Potty as soon as you get to the destination. It’s not a question of “do you need to go?”, it is “we are going to the potty now”. I didn’t care if ds only peed out five drops, if there was a bathroom nearby, we were trying. Constant reminders: we don’t pee in the car seat. We don’t pee at the library. We pee on the potty. Etc. Car potty It worked pretty well because he only had one accident. That was when he was super distracted by the Thomas exhibit at the museum. It’s just so much energy to always be on alert during that stage. Disclaimer: ds is a home-base pooper so I’ve never had to deal with that in public. Fingers crossed dd is the same!
