We're finally making the transition from the toddler bed to a big bed. My friend is giving us her frame and I'm picking up a mattress from ikea this weekend. I even found some sheets that have DDs favorite dinosaur on them. Fx this means she will want to stay and sleep in her room now. Ooh, good luck!

sheilathetank Godspeed. I really lucked out with my oldest. She never got out of her bed until she was almost 4 when her vomiting episodes started. Then she'd come get me when she was going to be sick. Even when she'd wake up in the morning she'd announce she was up but stay in her bed until I went in there. I doubt my youngest will be like that. He still hasn't attempted to get out of his crib so I will be keeping him caged as long as possible.

Just got a call from the nurse at DD's new school. She was reviewing the intake paperwork and the medical form that was filled out by DD's old pedi was missing tons of information. They basically filled out the top part and that's it. I didn't even realize it at the time. So now I have to see if I can get her new pedi to fill it out before she can start. I'm so glad we switched pedis because they would pull this crap at DC and it was a PAIN to fix. They wouldn't fax, I had to take time off work to pick up paperwork between 10 and 4, etc. It was a mess and it still is apparently. so frustrating, ugh!

Dd just came up to us while playing on her toy phone (aka a calculator) and said “I want my sixty dollars”. We are so screwed 😂
I think it’s because she watched an episode of Molly of Denali while I made dinner and the characters were raising money.

tgrimes there's hope! Both my kids were/are like that. Even now my 4yo screams for me in the morning. I didn't come fast enough a couple weeks ago, so rather than come get me, he threw a book across the room to make a loud noise to get my attention.

Yea, it used to be 18-30 months for the toddler room but they the switched things around just in time for J to move into the new little toddler room and I think it does work better. It's nice to get the 12MO walkers/almost-walkers out of the infant room too. Ours does Young Toddlers 12-18 months, Older Toddlers 18-24 months, then 2s, 3s etc. DD is moving up to Older Toddlers next week. I don't have feelings about it today, ask me again in a week. lol Good luck with the transition. DD is still getting used to the 2s room. They move rooms on their birthday, from infant to 1s, the 2s, then early preschool, then half a day preschool and then pre-k. She’s been in the 2s room since early June and she still wants to go to the 1s room.

And she knows most of the kids, but the teachers will be new. And of course, this is the week that Grandma and grandpa decided to come visit, so I'm really hoping that doesn't throw things off.

We're at a birthday party for one of DDs classmates and DD was the only kid from the class who showed up even of the ones who RSVP'd yes. My heart breaks for this little girl. Thankfully she really likes DD and they get along well so they are having a lot of fun.
This is the second party from DC that we've been invited to and the second time this has happened! Wtf! How hard is it to text no? It's a text. My RSVP took a minute max to text. And it's not like you have to be besties and text back and forth or whatever. I fucking hate people. I'm pretty convinced we will never do a kid party and instead will just invite a few close friends for something special.

We just got home from camping a couple hours ago, putting the kids to sleep now and looking forward to a couple of kid free hours. Camping is a lot of... together time.

We’ve been out of town every weekend and had houseguests and it’s been a little crazy.
We went on a hike today and the toddler surprised me by actually walking for a good part of it and was adorable.

Today was supposed to be DD's first transition day to Older Toddlers at daycare. She was a grumpy grump yesterday and spiked a fever in the night. Fortunately(?) my parents are visiting, so she gets a Grandma day and I'm work. She always seems to come down with something while my mom is here. I'm happy to have the help, but I feel bad for my mom.

It's a mile from town and we go halvsies on bringing food and cooking at the campsite. There's a ton to do in the vicinity, so we keep them busy. And I always have my secret weapon - a bag of activities to do at the campsite. It's pretty hands on, i'm really looking forward to the age they're old enough to entertain themselves and there's more downtime for me.

We've only done one night each so far but it is constant activity with no breaks so I imagine multiple days/nights would be tiring. My kid does fine during the day but has had trouble sleeping at night. I realized recently he really needs the ok-to-wake clock when we are away from home - initially I figured it wouldn't work/matter when we room-share. I need to try and figure out an alternative for camping that doesn't require power.

DS has taken to parroting all of my pet names for him. This morning he came into my room and said "Hey, pee-pee," which translates to "Hey, sweet pea." I die.

All of you campers are brave. I can't even get DD to sleep in a comfy ass bed. Getting her to sleep in a tent when we are right outside would be near impossible.

Last year 5 kids didn't show up that were supposed to attend my oldest's birthday. Not only did I have to pay for them regardless, but I busted my ass to get more party favors to make sure everyone had a bag.

It was last week. She starts in two weeks! Orientation went well, though some of the paperwork left me feeling very sad and very fortunate for what we have. We may not have much and sometimes struggle with paying for all we need, but at least my kid has a safe, loving home and her own bed to sleep in. I also found out that I go to fitness class with her new principal. So that was cool to find out.

sheilathetank you basically described our house. It's so small, we can't talk above a whisper after the kids go to bed. But it's actually waaaaay easier to get them to fall asleep camping. 1) they're exhausted from running around all day. 2) they get to stay up late, so it's dark outside and they're even more tired. 3) everyone sleeps in the same "room" which is my kids' favorite part. They love knowing we're right there sleeping beside them. Last night when we got home, the 4yo, who wakes at 2am looks around his room and goes back to sleep, called me in to sleep with him. He has to readjust to sleeping alone.

piratecat we normally do 3 nights, but timing wise we had to only do 2 this trip. Light wise we hang a mini flashlight from the top of the tent and keep it on while the kids go to bed. We turn it off when DH and I go to sleep. We also let them keep their glow sticks/glow swords up by their pillows which act as a nightlight pretty much all night. And we have these little touch lights they can use if they wake up at night and it's too dark for them. We didn't put our cover on the tent this trip either, so you could see the moon and stars all night. I was worried the daylight would wake them up too early, but it didn't seem to have any effect on them.

I think he's gotten so used to the red/yellow/green lights telling him whether he should be sleeping or not that he's disoriented and doesn't know what to do without it. I found a rechargeable light with different colors and a remote so I think that's what I'll try this weekend while camping. We didn't have the fly on last time we camped and my kid was up at 5:15.

Hopefully it goes by quick. 7 weeks. Induction is set for 6 weeks from this coming Thursday. Long story short- we got the call DS1 failed his remission trial for hypothyroidism, I took DS2 to the ENT and now am taking him for a hearing test tomorrow and his ENT follow up on Thursday to decide what to do, and DD failed her biophysical and was barely reactive during her NST. I drank so much juice trying to get her reactive that I spent two days feeling like crap.
