My cousin used to use a sharpie to cover her stray grays. 😬

Someone at work today told me having kids has made me soft. Apparently I didn’t give as many hugs 4yrs ago as I do now. 😑
I mean, I also use to teach middle school 4 yrs ago so they aren’t exactly known for giving hugs.I now teach 9 year olds and they love hugs and high fives and fist bumps. 🤷♀️

danvers that reminds me of this video. (Well I couldn't find the one I originally saw but this one is the same concept.)
I hope my kids always have teachers who give hugs, high fives, and fist bumps. It does not mean you are soft, it means you care.

My H is a HS football coach and tonight is Week 1 and there is excitement and anticipation in the air. The weather is awful though - cool and rainy. I'm praying it doesn't rain DURING the game - DNW. We're usually sweating bullets the first few games so it was really weird last night digging out pants and jackets for the boys.
ETA - the game time forecast has improved and I'm super thankful.

I am not sure if lil fella has a cold or he has allergies. I am currently on zyrtec and flonase and still dying this week. I think DS has allergies and started giving him zyrtec and there is marked improvement. I am about ready to call the pedi about lil fella. I had the day off today and picked up my bike from the bike shop - it is apparently super messed up and needs new shifters but I just got puncture resistant tires and tubes instead since it wasn't worth it to spend a bunch on the old bike and hubs thinks he can fix it. Anyways I am okay with it just riding around our neighborhood plus I do have another bike which hubs needs to reassemble since he took it apart and was swapping components between his bike and mine. I also spent time patching the punctured tubes and fixing the flat on the chariot - YES! I discovered the flat yesterday - I guess it suffered a pinhole puncture from last Friday. I pulled out no less than half a dozen thorns from just 1 tire!! That is some evil weed!

I also plucked up some nerve and cut lil fella's hair! He looks so so much like his big bro and is starting to look like a lil boy. Boohoo! Before and after. PDQ

Taitai...I heard Japanese brand hair colors are good? The Japanese ones are popular here, but I’ve heard they won’t work on my western hair 😩. Not sure how true that is, but even the Japanese salon I went to said that their dyes were not for my type of hair. Boooooo. Congrats on cutting your little guy’s hair! I can’t see the pics you posted, but I am sure he looks adorable!!

Don't have the experience with it however, Clairol has favorable results from focus groups when I was working on their products years ago. ETA. I posted the wrong image source. I was tired last night. Lil fella looks so grown up Boohhoooo...

What everyone on this side of the border doing for the long weekend? It's getting hot again so I think I'll be filling up the kiddie pool and letting the kids splash about in it.

No plans for the weekend. We are having issues with DS1 starting 1st grade and his behavior. He’s been in class 10 days and had notes sent 7 of those days. And his teacher already requested a conference with us, as well as calling me last week to discuss him. I don’t know what is going on with him but I am feeling very frustrated defeated and embarrassed.

We spent some time doing house projects today and it’s all coming together! Changed a couple of light fixtures and bought a storage unit for off season coats etc for the basement.
DD starts kindergarten on Wednesday and we have a meet the teacher/orientation on Tuesday. I go back to work Tuesday too and I am working extra days for the first 3 weeks to help out so it’s going to be busy!

Sorry to hear about the struggles with your DS curmudgeon. Did he have trouble with school last year too? Maybe there are some tips from last year’s teacher that could be passed along to help?

Maybe there are some tips from last year’s teacher that could be passed along to help? not really. Last year was great. I don’t know if this is coming from switching schools, being bored, or just thinking he doesn’t have to do what’s asked. He already told me he got more chances in K as far as behavior and thought it would be the same.

curmudgeon Sorry about your DS. I hope you'll have a good meeting with his teacher. Transitions are so hard for kids this age. I have the same worries you listed. Our DS got a note sent home on the 2nd day for not following directions which DS is notorious for and I forewarned his teacher about it. Does he have any friends from K in his class? Also since DS started K, he has been wetting his bed on a daily basis. So much laundry first thing in the morning. I am hoping whatever his is going through will be be over soon.

Speaking of wetting the bed, anyone have any recos for an overnight diaper for lil fella. He's been waking up every morning upset being all wet with his diaper leaking. We are using Pampers swaddlers overnights. I've never had too much issues with DS using them but noticed that they a much thinner than I remembered. Between DS and lil fella, it's getting old washing and changing sheets every single morning.

We had a nice day. I got the pool out and both boys had such a blast! I also made a couple of savoury zucchini quick bread with bacon, cheese and olives. I'll post the recipe. Unfortunately it isn't GF but I am certain you could replace the flour with a GF mix.

duskymonkey They are so cute and that zucchini bread looks awesome! For overnight diapers - when we were in the USA, we used the buggies pull-ups 2T size for DA2. I like that they don’t have tabs and are more of a “pants” style diaper. Totally held all of his pee. Now that we are home, we’re back to using the Mamy Poko pants diapers - no leaks!

My symptoms are super minimal, if it weren’t for the constant baby movement it would be easy to forget I’m pregnant. DD turns 5 next week! She is so so excited to meet her teacher tomorrow!
