Did somebody mention croup? I feel like I just read about it. Well M has it. Came out of nowhere!! We went to the er last night around midnight because she had a 104 fever and her breathing was not looking great. She walked out of there smiling at everyone and wearing my extra shoes at around 3am. She's doing much better today. I'm exhausted though. I'm thinking we'll both stay home tomorrow and get an extra day of rest.

Oh doodlemommy I’m so sorry. I’m glad the nurse recognized and said something and your BIL realizes that she does in fact need help.

Oh no, so many hugs I want to send out to everyone. codex320 I hope your DD gets over croup asap. A day of rest will definitely help - it’s so scary when the breathing is affected. curmudgeon Stomach bugs are horrible- I really hope your H doesn’t get it. Poor you. doodlemommy How scary - I shuddered when I was reading about your sister’s incident. I hope everyone takes things more seriously now and that she can get some help. Thank goodness the baby is fine. cythe So many hugs to you....I don’t have anything to say that can help, but please know I am thinking about you. IF is so, so hard and unfair. Please be kind to yourself. Hugs.

Whelp - DS2 started nursery school last week, and already picked up his first school cold. Just a runny nose that turned into a cough, but it’s still no fun to deal with. I elevated one side of his crib and have been doing lots of nasal spray/nose frida sucking. I am hopeful he’ll get over it quickly...seems to be playing just fine, so that’s good.
DS1 had another amazing birthday party to go to yesterday, which was a lot of fun. His expectations on what is a normal kid’s birthday party is going to be completely warped by living here 🤣😂😩

It was 9 day after a 5-day. I think it was under 50 too so some tests would have picked it up but others aren’t sensitive enough. I’m hoping you are pleasantly surprised but if not take care of yourself today. It sucks to go through all that and not get good news on the other end.

Sending a big hug to everyone this morning. I'm sorry cythe. No words seem adequate, but I'm thinking of you. Oh no curmudgeon that's the worst, so sorry. I'm glad your sister is getting help doodlemommy, but how scary. I'm so glad baby is ok. Thinking of you and her.

cythe ((hugs)) Taitai we sent the girls to daycare and thought the only bright side would be no back-to-school sickness since they would be there everyday and... apparently that’s not how germs work. Daycare germs are rough on everyone - parents included! codex320 DD2 just had croup. They gave us albuterol but I don’t think it helped. We tried a humidifier in her room but I’m not sure that helped either. When DD1 had it years ago the cold, dry winter air definitely helped the most but that is currently zero help to either of us at the end of August. Hopefully LO gets over it soon.

All I did was basically catch up on laundry and sleep this weekend. It was actually really nice but I did sleep a ton thanks to H taking the girls most of the time. I tried to explain to H when he questioned why I might be so tired and it was like - dude, even if we go to bed at the same time I get up at least an hour before you do to get ready. So 1hr x 5 days is at least 5 less hours of sleep not counting DD2 being up with croup or DD1 randomly needing me for no good reason 😑😑
I mean, I’m sure H wasn’t super serious about all the sleep but he is probably sorry he asked 😬

I think everyone is on the other side of the stomach bug!! I walked to my works cafe today for soup and thought I was going to pass out from the amount of effort it took. Apparently I wasn’t 100% yet.
I hardly have time to get my grays covered, and it’s expensive for what it is, so I bought a box dye and just put it all over my hair. 😬 10 more min and we will see if this was a huge mistake.

curmudgeon it should be! For us, antibiotics clear those up pretty fast. Except that little one doesn’t like to take the bubblegum medicine. :/

curmudgeon Did the box dye work? I have greys that I need to cover too, and I DESPISE spending so much at the salon just to get rid of them. I’m so scared to do it myself though! I’m certain I’d screw something up.

I’m certain I’d screw something up. yeah! I think it turned out ok. My hair is pretty dark so as long as I didn’t pick a black dye I think I was ok. Haha it covered the grays and these horrible front highlights the hairdresser had put in, and I don’t see any color choppiness or unevenness. So I’ll probably be doing it again when the time comes.

Taitai I used to dye my hair with box dye. It really isn't that hard. I even mixed two colors - the medium brown was too light and the dark brown was too dark so I used half of each! I'm a little at myself looking back but it wasn't that hard. If you only want to do roots, that's harder, but all over color is pretty easy.

If you have a girlfriend (or your husband - my H helped me sometimes, lol) to help you do the back, I think you'll be fine. The front/sides are pretty easy to do the roots yourself, it is just the back that was hard for me.
I turned 40 earlier this year and my sister is 7 years older than me and has never colored her hair and I don't see any grays. Yet I've been covering grays for at least a decade. I mean I have way more now than when I was 30, but I'm so jealous of her non-gray hair genes. My brother is between my sister and I and he probably has more grays than me - IDK it is hard to know for sure since I cover mine up, LOL - but he is mostly salt with a just a little pepper. I am really jealous of people who don't have grays that need covered every 6 weeks.

curmudgeon CoachTsWife Thanks for the tips about box dyes/getting rid of greys! I really just want to dye my hair at home to save money, but then I worry about the roots. I have a tiny bit of a reddish/chestnut in my hair, and I worry that if I get a brown dye with some red in it (to match my natural color), I’m going to end up causing the tips to get redder and redder as I re-dye. That obviously means I only need to do my roots for maintenance...but I worry I’m going to screw it up and the roots won’t match the rest of my hair. Maybe H would be willing to help when I try to do the roots. 🤔 Box dyes are super expensive where I live, so I might pick up a few in the USA and bring them back here. Will let you know what I end up doing!
