duskymonkey you can get a day pass to great wolf. It’s a huge indoor water park, a ropes course, and in the hotel is a scavenger hunt type deal which is really cool. The kids pick a magic wand and select different quests. They then go around the hotel hunting for all the objects to complete the quest. The objects interact with the wand so when they wave it at a picture or treasure chest it lights up and talks. I might actually enjoy the quest. I love quests type games! good to know there are other options besides the water park. Any chance you know or observe if it's wheelchair accessible?

August Blooms Wow! where has the time gone that you're already getting your first US. Let us know how it goes. Ugh...sorry to hear about your ILs. Can they at least help with watching DD so you can unpack or take a break and rest.

duskymonkey Sorry to hear that you will be getting a hysterectomy. If you don’t mind me asking, do you plan to leave your ovaries in? I have stage 4 endo and might be heading for a hysterectomy in the future, just because I get so much pain and bleeding during my cycle. I’ve heard that leaving the ovaries is beneficial, but I haven’t done a ton of research on it. Nothing to be sorry about. My ute has done more than expected and given me my boys and I am so thankful but I have 4 fibroids ranging in size of a golf ball to a grapefruit and its causing all sorts of discomfort and additionally my periods have been getting heavier. Discussed it with my OB and we decided it's best to get it removed. She recommends keeping the ovaries so I don't have to go on hormone replacement plus she said studies have shown more benefits of keeping them unless the individual is at high risk for ovarian cancer. I wasn't aware or may have forgotten you suffer from endo. I cannot imagine the pain and heavy bleeding every month for a week. Well I will be able to tell you all you want to know after I go through with it.

My day was almost great! ( cythe's news about E made it great! )I am now the proud owner of a Thule Chariot. I am now hunting for a bike hitch component and may have found it and it's going to cost half of what I paid for the entire trailer haha! Anyways getting it and FX it will work. Tomorrow I am off again and will be scrubbing the trailer and it'll look brand spanking new. Super thrilled!

cythe Yayayay for E! I am so happy for you. Maybe time to place hidden valley ranch packs all over the place 🤣 August Blooms Happy to hear that you have one appointment under your belt, but sorry about the ILs. I remember your MIL’s antics. Ugh. duskymonkey That’s great you can keep your ovaries- I’ve heard the same stuff that your doctor recommended, and please do tell me how it goes! I will probably be getting the same procedure in a few years.

Any chance you know or observe if it's wheelchair accessible? i found this site spintheglobe.net/dir/2019/06/13/wheelchair-accessible-gwl/ that talks about all the ways GW has accommodations. The quests are accessible too but may take longer using the elevators. There is a lot of going between the levels and some clues are hidden in the “secret staircase” but just on the landings so a wheelchair could go in to get the clue and then back out.

cythe That’s exciting news! At least now you know what motivates her! Taitai How are you guys adjusting to the time change? My local Walmart just put in a whole AB section, it’s got some decent selection of Cosrx and some other brands. Its going to be much harder to save my monies. duskymonkey I have no idea how you are walking around with a golfball and grapefruit sized fibroids. Do you have an idea of when you’ll be getting the surgery? My SIL has something similar to the Thule, sounds like you got a great deal.

August Blooms We’re getting there on the jet lag. 12 hours is a huge adjustment, so it takes the kids about 1 week to totally get over it....and since I can’t ignore them when they’re up at 2am, it therefore takes me a week. We’re almost there though! Just a few more days. Also- sooooo jealous that your Walmart is getting an AB section! I got my mom hooked on Cosrx snail...I should tell her to look for it during her next visit!

So DS2 is constipated (the time zone adjustment and weird eating schedule is probably to blame), and I told DH to give him something with fiber. Our nanny just fed him 3.5 prunes 😳
I think we’re in for a wild ride this afternoon 😂🤣

School started Wednesday. At some point preWednesday I got sick. I’ve been drugging myself through the first three days of school with varying amounts of success. I’ve taken the hardcore OTC stuff at night and boy do I miss these drugs 🤣 It’s the first time I’ve been sick since my breastfeeding/pregnancy days and this stuff pretty much knocked me out cold for 9-10 hrs straight each night (also why I haven’t taken it during the day with students!)

duskymonkey fibroid sufferer here too! Mine haven’t come back since I got them removed 6 years ago but if they do I will probably just haul everything out. I’m going through early menopause so my stupid ovaries are refusing to do their job anyway and I’ll have to be back on hormone replacement therapy once I stop nursing. At this rate, that will be when DD goes to college. 😂 cythe great news about E! Hey, ranch dressing is serious business. We call it redneck ketchup down here. Sorry I’ve been kinda MIA here. The little one is sleeping like shit lately and then big kid had some diarrhea (in the middle of the night, holy hell) so no one is getting much sleep. We’re trying to figure out if we should move back to the Midwest. My job prospects would be better, though I’ve heard our company is worried about turnover in IT and is making salary corrections which could be good for me. We make ok money but private school and a nanny is killing us. We might look at getting the little into pre school when she turns 3. I think she would benefit from the structure and socialization and it would be waaaay cheaper.

Taitai I can’t imagine trying to get little ones back to a normal schedule with a 12 hr time difference and a month with family (cause lord knows grandparents don’t always help with “keeping a schedule” either 😂) cythe that is such great news about E! Wow! I bet her therapists will be/were thrilled to hear it bootsorhearts1 come to the Midwest! Four real seasons, cheaper cost of living than the coasts, (mostly) good people... come! Honestly it’s such a crazy hard decision about moving and I wish I had a crystal ball because it does suck to up and move a life you’ve made for yourself somewhere and “start again” - even if you move by family or something curmudgeon we are going to take the girls to a Great Wold Lodge Bear is this fall! Try both love water and there’s one an hour away so it’ll be a short perfect “practice trip” before we try’s bigger vacation next summer maybe. Glad you all had a good time!!! 💦 duskymonkey DD2 goes for immunology something or other testing this week!!! 😬 I am taking her solo to appt and hope I don’t regret it. These tots are getting so big and I can hold her down if need be (been there done already!) but I’d much prefer someone else hold her down so I can soothe her if needed.

I love weekends with no plans and we just do what we want at a leisurely pace. We took the boys to the aquarium and then to eat at rainforest cafe. I think they liked the restaurant more! H happened to know this magician guy who was doing tricks at the restaurant so the boys got a 15 min personal magic show. DS1 was in heaven.

bootsorhearts1 I second danvers enthusiasm for moving to the Midwest! My years in Chicago were some of the best of my life. I love how friendly everyone is in that region of the states. Also, preschool at age 3 is great! Public school in my country starts at 3, so DS1 started at 2/3. It was fantastic- great for his socialization and independence. danvers Sorry you are sick, but yay to being able to take cold meds! I am going to wean DS2 within the next month, and I need to remind myself of that perk when I am hormonal and crying about closing the breastfeeding chapter of my life 😩😭 curmudgeon How cool that your boys got a basically private magic show! Great to hear you are having a fun weekend.

So much for almost being over jet lag - DS2 got up at 3:30am this morning 😩. Whyyyyyy?
I am really hoping tonight is better and he finally sleeps through...at least until 5am.
On the positive side, DS1 slept until 6:45am, so that’s good!

Yaas bootsorhearts1 come back to the Midwest! I've been out of pocket and I'm trying to play catch up on here, at work, and at home. We took a little trip to Omaha Zoo last week and had a good time. The weather was really really great. It is insanely hot this week, so I'm glad we lucked out last week. DH started teacher meetings yesterday and has evening practice all this week due to heat rules. We....barely see him. Things will settle down once practice is after school; then he'll be home for baths and bedtime at least. DS2 has bitten a kid at daycare twice now. And he bit DS1 on the finger last night (he usually just hits DS1). UGH. DS1 was truly such an easy kid and there is nothing easy about DS2. I love him dearly but my goodness, I wish he'd throw us a bone or something. I keep waiting for him to turn a corner and it just never happens. Such a good update to read cythe . Keep it up, E!

I took a spin class last night and my butt is so sore from the seat.
I have an offsite meeting in an hour and then I think I’m going to go home for the day. Maybe do some work, maybe take a nap before I pick up DS2.

I am dying to switch DS back to cloth diapers but we are having some issues with the washing machine at our new house and I can’t really switch him without a functioning washing machine! We just clr’d the washing machine so fingers crossed that will fix the problem otherwise we might need to replace it. On the bright side he has been coming to tell me immediately after he poops so we might actually pick a week that we’re home all week and try using the potty and just see how it goes! DD self potty trained at 19 months (like all I did was provide the toilet and underwear pretty much) so this is all new territory to me!

danvers keep us posted on her testing. She's been well for a length of time hasn't she? Hopefully she's grown out of it it and has built up her immunity. Taitai hopefully you're all on the way to getting over jet lag curmudgeon , if you bike enough you'll get used to it or get bike shorts or I've seen people bring in their own seat covers link August Blooms , bootsorhearts1 , so yeah my ute is basically up to my navel and I look like I am 20 weeks along along with discomfort and heavy periods, it's scheduled for the end of October. Taitai I just met another friend of a friend who just had hers out and hers was due to endo and she said she never felt better and the best decision she ever made. doodlemommy I can't believe we're almost ready to talk potty training!! Lil fella was going #2 in the potty until he got roseola and after that he's been going in his diaper and some in the potty but not regularly enough. At this age, DS was already good to go with #2. We started PT just as he turned 2. The last few weeks though he has been letting us know after he has pooed in his diaper so I guess better than nothing.

We had such a busy weekend and start of the week. We ended up going to Tiny town with DS for a day trip and he just about lost his mind and got to ride the steam train 4x! The weather was perfect and we had a great picnic outside. Lil fella didn't come along - he would've blown chunks most definitely with the windy road leading up to the park. Yesterday DS' school had a Back to School event and we had parent orientation and all that good stuff and met his teacher and I also took him for his Kindy test earlier in the morning. I took him in the Chariot and I am going to regret it tomorrow as my muscles will be screaming at me but not too much since I moved about a lot today at the zoo! It is my birthday today and decided to take DS to the zoo since he has never been and it's also sort of like a staycation for him, taking him out and about and doing stuff before actual real school starts on Thursday. He had a blast and his favorite animal at the zoo was the FISH! I take him to the zoo to see the gorilla, bears, komodo dragon and according to him the best part was seeing the FISH ROTFL!!! Tomorrow will be a chill day, getting ready for his first day to school and I'll be picking up the bike hitch at REI and hoping it will fit on one of my bikes so I can bike him to school Thursday morning and pick him up in it instead of running/walking since it will definitely be faster even if I am out of shape.

duskymonkey Happy birthday! Sounds like you had a great time at the zoo - lol to your kid’s favorite animals being the fish. Everyone has their own preferences! Hahaha. Thanks for the anecdote from your friend who has endo too. The more I look into the issue, the more convinced I am that I should get get the hysterectomy done sooner rather than later.

I’ve also been thinking about potty training! Lately DS2 has been telling us when he has to go poop or pee, and 2 days ago he pooped in the potty, which was very exciting. He was so proud of himself. I think we’re going to wait to so full on potty training until later this year, but it is wonderful to think about not having to buy diapers anymore!
While it’s nice to think about the perks of having the kids get older, it’s also making me sad that DS2 seems to be growing up so quickly. I have a 10 day business trip coming up in September, and the goal is for me to use that trip to wean DS2. I know I’ve had a nice long run of breastfeeding both DS1 and DS2 until about the 2yrs point, but I’m still really sad when I think about stopping...forever. It’s like a chapter in my life is over - we’re done at 2 kids. DS2 has been really enthusiastic about breastfeeding lately too, rushing to our chair for his pre-bedtime session and saying “comfy and cozy” before we start, and I just get so sad thinking about that not happening anymore. Sigh. We’ll still be able to cuddle though - it will be fine.
Okay - done with the dear diary entry! LOL. 😅

Oh how I can’t wait for potty training. DS likes to grab his penis and stretch it to the toilet but not actually do anything when I sit him up on it. I think we’ll have to get a little toilet for him to do anything.
Are y’all using the training potties or going straight for the regular toilet?

Re: potty training. We waited quite a while to attempt with DS1 (didn't want to attempt when DS2 was little and needier). He was completely ready and it was a breeze. We'll likely do that with DS2 as well unless he shows interest. I didn't want to mess with cleaning a little potty chair so we used this potty seat and it worked great. Taitai I'm with you on the nursing feels. I BF DS1 for 18 months when I couldn't take it anymore due to pregnancy (dwindling supply and sensitive nips). Weaning him was a breeze. DS2 went on a 2 week nursing strike last December and I was heartbroken for those 2 weeks. Once we got past that he's been very consistent since. I'm only nursing him at bedtime now and I skipped 2 days in a row a few days ago (someone else put him to bed) and I was curious how my body would respond to that. We're really close, I think, and it was hard that second night because I was home he just wanted Daddy to put him to bed (which I've been wanting to happen for a long time and when it did I was sad, of course. So yeah, all the feels).

I feel like super woman today! My googling fix seems to have worked and my washing machine is totally fine!!!!! We have super hard water so a couple different parts needed clr rinses and now it is working properly which is great! I just sat on the floor watching an entire cycle to make sure it wouldn’t over fill and leak and it was fine! Wahoo!!! Plus I took myself and both kids for eye exams this morning and got DS 3 pairs of shoes at old navy in the next sizes up for the same price as the one pair at gap kids I almost bought him. Yay!

On potty training: we will either attempt at Xmas break or spring break (or even next summer break) with DD2. The “naked potty training method” worked really well with big sis so I’d like to try and replicate that with the same results 😬😬😬
