We’re flying with DD next month, and she will be 5 months old. We’re flying Allegiant, which will be a new airline for H and I. The flight is 2-2.5 hours long. Any tips or tricks for flying with a baby?

I just realized I never posted my reply... sigh, baby brain. Or maybe baby attention span.
Anyways, 5 months old should still be pretty easy. Bottle/breastfeeding or pacifier with take off and landing to help with ear pressure. Small toys that don’t make too much noise and hopefully baby will nap.
If you’re not bringing the car seat, a carrier through the airport is easy.
And if she cries the whole time, just do your best and remember that most people feel sorry for you and aren’t mad.

Thank you! We are bringing her car seat and stroller (travel system), and we are planning on gate checking them. Can we put some powder formula in a regular ziplock bag or does it have to be in its container? Does DD have to be in a front carrier or something on the plane or is in my/H’s arms ok?

I used the little formula dispenser thing. I don’t think they asked about it at all. And I’m fairly certain you aren’t allowed to wear babies during take off or landing, so arms are definitely the way to go!

Oh, and don’t forget a copy of the birth certificate! I forgot once and they let me on and accepted a picture of it for the return trip. Thank goodness my friend had a key to my house and could go send me a picture!

We didn't fly with DD until she was a year, but I think you've gotten some good tips! Holding baby on your lap is fine. I
I'd bring extra formula if you are FF in case of plane delays. Oh and extra diapers. Don't forget a snack for you! 😀Have a great trip.

I will add that to my Walmart list. Good to know about just holding her in my arms. I would rather do that than have her in a carrier.

Thank goodness my friend had a key to my house and could go send me a picture! I’m a total slacker, and I just sent off the paperwork for DD’s birth certificate like 3 weeks ago. We just got it in the mail, so I’ll make sure to bring it with us.

I’m planning on FF on the plane I think and then nursing her on our layovers when needed. Good tip to pack snacks in my bag! I swear I’m hungrier now than when I was pregnant!

A little late but I think you are allowed to bring water through the gate for formula feeding. They let us with my first.

I ended up just nursing DD on the planes and not needing any formula. She did so good on both flights. She slept through most of them both. She woke up towards the end of the return flight because there was turbulence, but she thought it was funny! She kept smiling and giggling. It was adorable!
