I have never been so happy to be at work. Between both kids being clingy & cranky for the past week and only allowing mommy to do EVERYTHING, to the shitty state my house is currently in, work seems wonderful.

Nothing major on the agenda this week. I have an OB appt tomorrow where I want to get confirmation that he’s head down. I’ll post an update in pg check in after. Work wise my boss asked me to take a new certification before going out on mat leave. And I passed by the skin of my teeth w 80% but passing is passing!

I have a few shifts this week where I had the weekend off, so it's gonna be a busy week for me. We're dealing with some drama in our friend group (TW one of our friends is suicidal and refusing help and is currently missing) so everyone is quite stressed, especially DH who feels like everyone is looking to him to help, which makes zero sense as he is out in the middle of the ocean right now. I'm actually getting pretty angry.

I have another ulcer. This is #3 in 8 months or so. I have a GI Appt next week to try to get this figured out because this is bullshit. In the meantime, Tums are my friend and I have to keep my diet super tight or I'm a shitload of pain, have terrible heartburn, and get nauseated.
On the plus, it's a really effective way to get me on an actual diet. If I stray, I get sick.

Nothing exciting going on with me this week. Just work and appointments as usual.
Yesterday I was able to get H to put curtains up in our room and take care of other random stuff. Then finally.. FINALLY after 8 months, he started drilling the holes in the bathroom cabinets for the knobs... then his drill bit broke. I was so mad lol. Hopefully it doesn't take another year to get back in there to finish. It feels like we have so many unfinished projects already. I really want something to be done.

I'm sorry danib. I hope they find your friend safe. And that is completely unfair to your H. Ugh I hope you feel better starbuck. Is it specific foods that cause it?

The police found him and detained him under the Mental Health Act. He's checked in to a mental health hospital for a psychiatric assessment. I told DH we are stepping away. Being a good supportive friend is one thing. But DH literally being out in the middle of the ocean and charged with keeping him alive is a whole level of service insanity we do not need in our lives. His family and mental health professionals can take it from here.

Oh danib I'm so sorry. You're absolutely right though, the expectation that your H would be the one responsible for him while his job is one that takes him physically out of the picture is a crazy notion. And more than that, he does need the help of professionals, there's a point where friends aren't enough because they don't have the necessary tools. *hugs* What a difficult situation all around.

danib I’m so glad they found him and he’s safe. I have to remind myself on a daily basis that other people’s (other people = my family) instabilities are not for me to handle. It’s very sadly watch from a far but how much help can we’ve if we’re dragged down with them. starbuck Do you only have these issues after having the twins? My stomach is so much different after them, besides the obvious mush, it’s like my internals are all different

Happy Monday!
Last week we were at the Cape Sunday to Wednesday and came home to really really bad t’storms. We took Thursday off unexpectedly to recover and then I actually went in the office Friday. Then Sat and Sunday were hot as balls here(100*) so we were stuck inside with two cranky toddlers who refuse to nap. On the plus, I am v v pleased with how our trip went as it was our first trip anywhere with them.
Today they started “camp” at the place they’ll go to “school” in September. It was only 9a to 1p but they did pretty well I’m told, which is good considering we were all up from 1am to 4am and we left the house crying and tantrumming. Started as a horrible first experience but seems to have gone alright. They go back Friday. And then in two weeks they’ll do Monday and Friday again.
AVs pottying is going mostly good except for something like this morning, during the aforementioned tantrum when she looked at me and said “I’m doing pee pee right now” (in her underwear). I think bc she was upset, tired etc.
We still haven’t started AB lol.

I cut my dad (well technically step-dad, my family is a bit confusing) out of my life 5 years ago because he refused to get help for his mental health issues and it was severely effecting my own well-being. I'll do what I can for someone, but there comes a point where I say enough because I need to focus my energy on being my best self for my own family (DH and the kids).

tgrimes, never thought I'd say this but Yay for work! Has YH said anything about the mess at all? cookswithwine, we went thru coast guard exams with 80=100, they don't right your score on the cert just that you passed. danib, that is awful! Everyone goes through me with bad/sad information when DH is at work. The oilfield is one of the most dangerous places to work, he doesn't need distractions. I get it's a friend but there's nothing he can do from offshore so, I agree that there needs to be a separation now that he's found and safe. starbuck, I'm sorry about the ulcer, but Yay for it helping you stick to your diet though! My dad couldn't have citrus which made him sad because he loved orange juice. Eventful week for us. Mom went home yesterday, BIL is here today. MIL sent him with 2 boxes of wooden train stuff. L is in heaven as I type this. Nala has surgery to pull her canine's on Wednesday and since DH is home I took extra hours on Friday and Saturday. We start speech with SLP on Thursday so that's 3 days of help! I start a new session but I believe most of my kids are the same. I definitely have an unusual mom. On of my swimmers doesn't enjoy swimming for competition. He wants to just play and have fun. She pushes him to do this and he hates it! When I mentioned on swim team, he can't just be late and not show up for practice. She says, "As long as I let him be late and he works hard when he's there, that's all she cares about." Then why are you pushing him so hard for swim team because I know the coach and he won't go for that! But the coach probably would see through her and not let him on the team. Luckily, I have 2 that are working hard to be on swim team.

My brother just got a brand new patio/inground pool at his house so he invited us over on Sunday to celebrate B's birthday since they had to miss his party the day before and to let the boys swim. It was really nice and everyone had a lot of fun and swam for hours. Yesterday, my mom had the day off so she wanted to do something fun with me and the boys. We wanted to go to the lake but it poured all day long so we decided to go to the children's museum. She came back to my house and hung out while the boys napped. She got B up after his nap and noticed his pinky toe was bright red and it looked like he maybe had a splinter or something in it. What was more concerning was there was a red line under his skin going from his pinky toe up to where his ankle and foot meet. I called the pediatrician and since they were closing shortly they advised me to go to urgent care to get it looked out. We were concerned he had an infection going in his blood stream. We got to urgent care and they said the infection was going into his lymphatic system. The doctor tried to get into his toe to see what was in there but B was not having it. They tried to give him a shot of novocaine but B flipped out so they had to basically wrap him up in a taco so he couldn't move and give him the shot. That was the most traumatic thing ever. The poor kid was bawling his eyes out screaming "STOP! I want to get out of here!" it was breaking my heart. They ended up getting out a piece of something, they think possibly concrete from my brother's patio. that is the only thing I can think of because we never left the house or went outside Friday or Saturday because it was hot AF out.
Now, he is on antibiotics and I have to change his bandage and apply Neosporin which is really fun because he wont let me go near his foot since he is so traumatized. And we go to the allergist tomorrow where he's going to get testing and skin pricks done. Oh and his 4 year well check is next week also and he'll be getting shots. Poor kid.
