Potty training update. He has peed once on the potty. He was so proud of himself so I thought the momentum would stick. Nope. He’s had about 2 or 3 more accidents since. Still hasn’t pooped. He loves sitting on it and flushing it. I have done a ton of laundry. I’m ready to start drinking. Do it. I started drinking at 10am on potty training day.

My heart hurts for his victims but I'm glad you all were able to swiftly give them some, small amount though it may be, justice.

Did not want to be dealing with 2 in diapers. Oh for sure. The goal is to potty train her in September if she doesn't show an increased interest before then. I'm just lamenting that I'm going to have to do it without wine. lol

I would suggest letting him pee in the yard tomorrow. Sounds crazy but took the pressure off and was more “fun”. Once he got that down we started introducing the potty back into the equation.

I’m sorry tgrimes I cried at work today. I haven’t done that in forever. Damn pregnancy hormones. I'm sorry! Everything ok? Yes, thanks for asking. I work with a guy who’s sense of humor relies on making fun of others. Normally it’s all fine but this is the 2nd time he’s made fun of me in front of my team for “leaving early” and not doing anything. It upset me so I told him not to do it again and if he truly had a problem with my work ethic then to discuss it with me personally not in front of the team. His response, “nah, I don’t think that. I don’t think anyone does.” 🙄

I was thinking that...but it seems strange to me because I want him to go in the potty and not just go wherever he pleases, which seems to be what is happening now 😂. It’s like he just needs to get the timing right. He went in the potty 3 times today so I’m calling it a success. The last time he came running to me holding himself so I knew he had to go and he went! It’s also going to pour tomorrow with severe thunderstorms!

I was really hoping to get C potty trained before this baby but I highly doubt we'll get there in 6 weeks. He's still soooo against even trying. It's been hard to find time to do any sort of bootcamp. I told him he has to either give up the bink or the diapers. Yea neither of those is going well lol

goldenlove, I cannot believe you are so close to having baby girl! I'm so excited for her to come. We have similar potty training issues. Weekends are very gogogo and we haven't been able to do intense potty training. We're just going to have to schedule a weekend to do it.

I had dinner with a couple girlfriends last night who both have N16 boys and neither of their kids is close either. Makes me feel a little better.

starbuck, that's just crazy! How is GF again? It makes me sad that your brother doesn't speak up for his mom! tgrimes, I'm sorry you had to go through that, but glad it seemed pretty quick. Does guilty mean he got the full sentence or is that a different day? waitwhat, I'm just reading all y'alls potty training stories... someday I'll be using them these ideas. L is only interested in flushing the toilet for me. cookswithwine, guys are so rude sometimes. I'm also glad you stood up for yourself. Quiet morning, L is still sleeping. He was very clingy yesterday! I left him a little upset at playgroup, but I caved during swimming so he was my assistant in the water for an hour (probably why he's still sleeping) I apologized to the parents but one dad thought it was good for him to be there because they could see what a kid comfortable around water would look like.

For the record, I think diapers are wayyy easier than a potty trained toddler lol. Cons of Potty trained - I have never cleaned up more pee or poop in his entire life, including on me. You have to worry about where the public bathrooms are and how sanitary they are. You still have to go to the potty with them every time bc they can’t do it themselves. It’s a battle to wash hands after. Pros - you don’t have to buy diapers. I just did it now bc I don’t want 2 in diapers plus the preschool requirement.

goldenlove it’s amazing how different kids are when it comes to potty training. B had zero interest and was so stubborn so he usually won all our potty training battles. I completely gave up and waited until he was 3. Being in preschool helped because it got him more familiar with it and he saw other kids doing it. J was exposed to B using the potty so that has helped immensely. And he also has the vocabulary whereas B didn’t at this age. I think that has worked in or favor. Every kid is so different.

Day 2 of potty training is going well. J woke up completely dry (totally wasn’t expecting that) and sat on the toilet twice today and peed! Zero accidents (knock on wood) but he still hasn’t pooped. I’m pumping him with fruit and veggie pouches and hoping for some movement lol.

Re potty training, AV has been able to hold and go for months now, but just didn’t want to. I didn’t push it because I didn’t want her to resent it. I’d let her go on the potty when she was interested and kept her in diapers the rest of the time. For the past week+ she’s been waking up dry (maybe even two weeks) in the morning and she says “mommy my belly hurts” and obvi I explain it’s bc she has to pee so we go and she does it. So I started putting her in undies since Tuesday and she’s been fine with MIL and my mom. Then I put a diaper on her after dinner/bath and she’s pooped in the diaper both times which tells me she’s prob been holding it during the day but I’m ok with this at the moment. It’s taken zero effort so I’m gonna give it another week and then start “encouraging” the poop.
AB.... is confused. He sees her and thinks he should sit. But sees dad and thinks he should stand. But he can’t get his wiener into the pot. And he tries pushing like poop when he’s on there. So, we’re gonna give that one until after our trip at least lol.

cookswithwine and others... my neighbor takes her little potty in their minivan with them when they are on trips and/or out and about. Her 5 year old goes on that in the van when they are faced with no other option or only public bathroom/portapotty option. So I was gonna do that on our trip to the Cape this week. Then my coworker told me that her daughter uses this in the car and for travel for her 5 year old: www.amazon.com/Kalencom-Potette-Travel-Potty-Trainer/dp/B0016L0MMSSo I might actually get this for our potty training days. AV will not go in public yet, I am certain of that. It’s big, loud, and she doesn’t do well with even being in the bathroom with me.

kleigh I think C is the same. He knows how to try to poop but I don't think he knows what peeing is or how to do it. He has been waking up dry here and there and has gone long periods of time with a dry diaper, but when you ask if he wants to go pee on the potty, he gets upset and yells no. waitwhat I'm sure having other kids to learn from would be super helpful. This is another time I wish we had him in daycare. The other thing is with sharing lol.

Cheshie6 While the jury deliberated, the attornies worked out a sentencing arrangement if he was found guilty. He got 9 years. Had they not done that, I'd be back there today to determine sentencing. He would have gotten way more than 9 years if we were left to decide.

kleigh I would obviously try to get him to sit bc there's less chance of pee everywhere (although my boys have found ways to pee on the floor while sitting), but, I have heard of people throwing cheerios in the pot and telling their son to hit the target.

We tried cheerios with H and it was cool to him for a couple days, then he was over it. At daycare they have little potty's, so occasionally he stands. But he leans over the potty and puts both hands on the tank, so he's at an angle, if that makes sense. He can't do that at home without help though. ETA kleigh
