addymac we keep the house at 74 at night. DS sleeps in a short sleeve shirt and pants pj set and uses a muslin swaddle blanket most nights. Sometimes he likes the weight of his small fleece blanket for actually falling asleep but pushes it away pretty quickly.

I think I’m letting my Hispanic roots show 😂 my mom has always maintained that he doesn’t sleep well bc he’s too cold and I’m like IVERHEATING CAUSES SIDS!!! BUTTTT whenever we have had to sleep in his room we always end up cold and want a blanket, so that’s why I think he needs one. Idk!!!

They use a quilt to fall asleep, and then it’s off the rest of the night. We keep their rooms at 74 (smart thermostat that we use the bedrooms’ temps to control the temp at night) Edit- minus the swaddle since they’re 4 and 2

It could be hot enough to sleep naked, but I need something over me or else I get chilled in the middle of the night.

It’s just a good size to use as a crib blanket. Apparently he still gets loosely swaddled at nap at school, which I had no idea until his new assistant teacher asked me if we were still doing that at home. He hadn’t been swaddled in well over a year. But he likes it there. 😂

When DS gets into the classic butt-in-the-air pose for bed, I tell him “good night little booty!” Tonight I pretended to fall asleep on his floor and he patted my butt and said “night night booty.” He kills me.

Lakes I read a book called all souls about southie, are you telling me there are two more? I just looked and they’re different books/series. I read the series by Deborah Harkness which starts with a Discovery of Witches. They were a combination of modern fantasy/adventure/romance.

We went to a living history museum and despite the heat, the kids did so well. They were interested and in to it as much as a two and four year old can be. I was so proud of my little nerd babies.

DS2 has now been referred to an ENT for tonsil removal 😪 if I pay for two, can we get DD’s removed for free?

My kid has always done so well at daycare drop offs but he has been crying every day this week and my H says today was the worst yet. Is it a phase? Will it get better? Should we be doing something? He's been clingy at bedtimes too but that seems to be getting better. DD loves daycare. But would go through this too. If I left fast it was over faster for them at daycare. So many toys to distract them Is it a phase? Does she do well otherwise?

Camping was still not great. I don’t know what it is that wakes him up in the middle of the night crying.
And now I have strep.

Is it a phase? Does she do well otherwise? Yes it was a phase. Some times it would happen if DD missed a few days due to illness, she had to adjust again. Sometimes it happened after a leap or other brain development. It never changed permanently to hard times at drop off. We are re starting daycare after 3 months off in September. I predict that being lots of tears. I hope she adjust quickly. Last year she started daycare at 1yo and cried every drop off, and all day at daycare for 2 months. My daycare provider almost quit on me, she said she might do better with a nanny or something. So we did a 2 week notice and then on her last week. She just finally stopped crying. . And the provider said she finally is adjusted and doing great. Do you want to continue here ? and I said yes because I had no plan lined up yet. And thank goodness because she did so well there. But there is no spot for DS at that daycare so we are starting over somewhere new. Old provider said to give her phone number to the new place for moral support. I’m so nervous. I can’t find anywhere else who will do the schedule I need. I need this place to work. Ugh, that must be very stressful. I hope the new place works out for you. At least you know that she has adjusted to it in the past even if it took some time. The lack of daycare availability is so hard.

I have been off parenting duty for a couple of days and you would think my kid would miss me but this morning I went to say good morning after H got him out of bed and he told me to go away.

I was gone Sat afternoon til Monday morning this weekend and DS was fine but didn’t STTN those two nights and then last night he freaked the fuck out st bedtime and would not stop crying when I tried to leave the room. And he was acting out all day that I was with him. I know he missed me and was reacting to that but my gosh. I’m back kiddo! I’m back!
Things are going to be awful when I go back to work next week. I am already dreading it for so many reasons

We're doing round two of swim lessons this week. DS screamed 25 of the 30 minutes last night. He knows when we sing songs, it usually means going underwater. So he starts screeching "NOOO!" as soon as we circle up. Then he is in hysterics the rest of the lesson. He didn't do this the first time. The dramatics are too much.

I can’t hold most things, I still have a 5lb weight limit on it and I can’t even do a full thumbs up with it, let alone twist my wrist like a normal human (think like pushing off your hand to get off the floor when you’re playing with the kiddo). Still in physical therapy for another 4ish weeks. Go back to work next Tuesday and hoping I get the itty bitty babies and not the 10lb-ers 😂

I’m sure the grandparents would take the little off our hands but even with just the four year old, the sleeping arrangements make me want to cry. I’m visiting my dad in NY and will probably sleep on the cot in the screened in porch because they live in the woods and it’s gorgeous and I don’t want to share a bed with my kid. I can just pretend I’m camping, right?

I'm sorry did it get any better later in the day? Yea he was totally fine with me when I came down to breakfast. Happy to see me at daycare pick up. And he wanted to read books with me at bedtime, which is an improvement. The rest of bedtime was a shit show but unrelated to him wanting his dad over me, just the regular toddler shit show.

Sorry I haven't been around much. After getting back from vacation shit hit the fan at work. It took me two weeks to diagnose the problem and it's going to take months to fix. I'm mentally shot.
It doesn't help that when I walk through the door DD wants me to immediately play with her and my mom is desperate for an adult to talk to.
I'm hiding in the bathroom now, trying to decompress. I feel awful because the last thing I want to do right now is play pretend with DD. I just don't have the mental energy for it.
