Does anyone else's kid wake up like an absolute bear every morning? Its like her eyes open and she is instantly screaming in there, calling me and now recently at the top of her lungs "knock knock" and "out" 🤣. I would ignore to let her simmer down a bit but she wakes my older girl sometimes. My 2YO went through this phase and I think the Ok to wake clock really helped. It seems like he needed more time to wake up in the morning so he would wake up and cry but if we went in he would be a grumpy mess. Now when he wakes up and the light is still yellow he just kind of rolls around for a while until the light turns green and he is in a better mood. Well, that is, as long as my husband goes in. If I go in he cries and asks for dad.

My 4 year old is kind of wreck today so I’ll join you in the grumpy kid club. We just started a brutal heat wave and our AC is sucking so I’m blaming the weather for his grumpiness.
The AC is only 4 years old so I am not pleased. It can’t seem to keep up and takes all night to go down a degree or two. Probably a leak or something. If we want the free tuneup that’s in our contract, they can’t see us until November! 🤨 A regular out of pocket visit puts us in the middle of August. I guess I could shop around but we’ve been very happy with this company for five years and this is the first issue we’ve had.

My kid has always done so well at daycare drop offs but he has been crying every day this week and my H says today was the worst yet. Is it a phase? Will it get better? Should we be doing something? He's been clingy at bedtimes too but that seems to be getting better. We have had this happen a few times where DS1 (almost 3) would lose it at daycare drop off after months of no problems. For us it got worse after DS2 was born. Even now that DS2 is 10 months old, DS1 will still have days where he doesn't want me to leave him. I just give him an extra hug and kiss then hand him off and leave.

We kept reminding him over and over he doesn't need to yell - he just needs to call out for dad or mom. Now he'll call for daddy a couple times, then call for mommy, and if we don't get to him fast enough he'll still start yelling, but he's learned he doesn't have to go right to yelling. For us, I'm sure part of it is that he's still sleeping in a full crib so he can't get up and keep himself occupied in his room, but since he's never tried to climb out yet I prefer to keep him contained.

Yes, keep him contained. My first was almost 3.5 when we moved her out of the crib because she was almost too big. She would have happily stayed! It was basically the best .

DS has gone back to yelling for us, even with the OK to wake clock. He'll figure it out eventually. Lately, he's started yelling "DOGGY!!" like the dog is going to come free him. I die.
This morning, his light was about to turn green but I heard him yell "POTTY!" so I raced in. He just grinned and asked for milk. He knew he had me. Stinker.

It was getting out of control for a bit, to be honest. Trains, bath toys, foam play mat pieces... He always has a book or two in there. Usually he'll ask to read more books and we'll tell him to bring it to the crib. This morning I watched him wake up and roll around in bed, and then t he green light turned on and he sat up and started reading a book, as if he wanted us to walk in and see him reading.

He absolutely loved his clock. Made a big deal about turning it on at night. But every morning he would just scream for us, no matter the color. Or (my favorite) he'd bring his clock into our bedroom, place it on my bedside table, crawl into bed and toss, turn, crawl, or touch me until I gave up trying to sleep.

We are beating the heat with the kiddie pool. It will soon turn into a mudfest and bath #2 will need to commence prior to dinner. But I think it's worth it, right?

Regarding Prime: I spent way too much and don't even remember what I bought. But I'm sure I needed it all. Lolz. We leave for vacation Sat so everything needs to be here on time! Plus I plan to pack most of it.

We have been talking to J about wearing underwear and he seems somewhat interested but not quite ready. This morning he said "I wear underwear on my bums not yet".

gingy, what kind/size underwear did you get for your guy? I am looking at toddler underwear and wondering if 2T will even fit him, he's such a little peanut. He generally wears 2T clothing so they should be okay, right?

The main fit issue with the 2T undies is that the leg holes are too large. But that doesn't seem to cause any problems like a too-large waist would.

Who knows when my kid will be ready but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a few on hand.

Speaking of potty training. I accidentally put DS in bed without a diaper tonight. Some mornings he wakes up dry and some days he is wet (last few days have been dry so I'm hoping that trend continues). I'm not risking waking him up to put one on.

What is he wearing? My kid calls this “going in crib with his penis”, which is prohibited in our house for now.

What is he wearing? My kid calls this “going in crib with his penis”, which is prohibited in our house for now. He didn't nap today so he was super tired this evening. He wasn't wearing a diaper because we've been potty training (I feel like as of this week he is day-trained). So it was getting close to bedtime and we were just relaxing. I wasn't paying attention and he ended up falling asleep. Not a huge deal. I waited a bit and then put him in his bed. It wasn't until a little later when I saw the diaper waiting in the bathroom (I get him to pee right before bed and put it on him after that) that I realized he didn't have it on. I am SUCH a creature of habit. My routine gets interrupted and I forget the most obvious things. Didn't take him to the bathroom to pee, so didn't put a diaper on him. *SMH* Edit to add - he is wearing pajamas. We do bath, pajamas, relax/bedtime snack, brush teeth, pee then diaper, story in bed.

For those of you that have a toddler bed or even a crib but no sleep sack - what kind of blanket do you let you kid sleep with? We have DS in a toddler bed and a sleep sack. But lately he gets ready for bed and points to the sleep sack and says "Not this!!" and fights us to put it on. We have AC set to 72/73 and he sleeps in footie PJs still so I feel like he needs something else but maybe we can transition to a blanket. What kind of blanket do I get him? I have a bunch of those big muslin ones, but they seem too thin. A couple fleece or furry baby blankets but they don't seem right- am i over analyzing this? Do we get one for his bed like an adult bed comforter? He sleeps on the bed and futon 50/50 and we don't care as long as he STTN, its a battle we won't pick, so I want the blanket to be able to be moved to the futon with him when he moves himself over.

We just use regular kid-size blankets. Once they're big enough that they can push stuff off when sleeping blankets aren't a risk anymore.

So he woke up at 2:30 (dry) and tired to come in my room. I put a diaper on him and made him go back to bed. He freaked out and peed in his diaper in the process. Should have asked him to pee first lol, that's probably why he woke up in the first place.

addymac at 72 degrees and in footed PJs I feel like he wouldn’t need much else but we don’t do footed PJs at that temperature either. My kid had a mid weight cotton crib blanket he uses most of the year and a muslin swaddle blanket for warmer weather. Both are small and portable and he likes them.

We got a ton of handmade knitted blankets when DD was a born. We use a combo of those. During the summer we use a big one that has a large crochet pattern so there is good airflow but still warm.

I wouldn’t use a blanket in his case. It would be too warm. Around 8-9 months, we started giving a Muslin or thin blanket.
