B is a finger sucker so we are pretty much screwed. Can’t take his fingers away at bedtime! 🤷♀️ That sucks! My cousin’s daughter was totally hooked on the binky until they finally took it away at 3yo. Then, she started sucking her thumb 6 months later.

C never really took a pacifier. I’m grateful that I don’t have to try to wean him off it, but I wish he had a self-soothing technique other than squawking when he wakes up every morning at 5:30. He will literally only sleep with one blanket. I tried to attach him to a sweet little owl lovey but he throws it out of his crib every time lol.

Annnnnd this is becoming a problem. When she wants a pacifier but we won't give her she cries for a drink instead. We almost exclusively use these kids camelbacks and she's started using the bite valve like a pacifier 🤦

But she is so cute cnf! Haha. Nice work bethkate, I'm too nervous, I'm not ready yet, even if she is! I don't think she's using it as much overnight though and she associates it with bedtime now so it'll often be tossed in defiance.

She never took a paci (despite my many attempts), and never sucked her thumb. She wasn’t a great self soother. But at least I never had to wean anything? C took a paci for about 4 months and then dropped it. And then she discovered her thumb lol. She only puts it in her mouth after she goes into the crib. It’s very cute.

Also, hi. I have been neglecting you guys. I am officially on the tail end of training the new hire, and I get to come in at 6 this week instead of 5 am (with the exception of tomorrow- H has a big important work meeting that requires an early morning set up, so I’m dropping the girls off at day care and coming in at 730). And the next couple weeks I’m mostly at 7:30. So yay for a bit more sleep!

Anyone else's kids obsessed with pics of themselves and stuff? This morning when I dropped him off N ran over to a mirror and kissed his reflection. My nephew went through something similar about this age, so I'm pretty sure this is a Toddler Thing, but I still laughed my ass off.
Poor kid took a door to the face last night right before pickup. He ran over to a closet while another parent was inside getting their carrier; the parent didn't check before opening and caught him in the forehead. He's fine, no broken skin and it didn't bruise as much as I thought it would - DCP on duty was super pissed at the parent, though.

N never took a paci either. He always sucked on an end of a blanket. He still does but only when he’s tired or upset. My mom was always bugging us to break that habit. But I can say with certainty that he won’t be going to school with it so I see no need to do anything about it.
Also, we finally had E’s 18 month appointment. He’s in the 60% for weight, 39% for height, and 96% for head. Dude’s got a big melon. My H and I were laughing because everyone always says how tall E is but really he isn’t. N was always in the 15-20%for everything so I guess E could look tall.

E just touched my bare leg and said “scratchy.” Thanks, kid.
We went to visit my SIL and niece this morning, and i just made beach plans with my dad for tomorrow. I’ve been doing my best to get E out of the house before lunch every day to keep her busy until it’s time for a nap. Otherwise, she’s ready to sleep by 10 and a total beast in the afternoon.

I took DS1 to the dentist yesterday and got great advice on how to brush ds2’s teeth. The hygienist said she lays her kids on the floor, head in her lap and for her unruly 2 year old she uses her legs to pin them down- so I tried it and omg it works soooooo well! Ds2 hates it (he hates letting me brush anyway though) but I can actually get all of his teeth that way. Just thought I’d share her too since we were all recently talking about teeth/dentist visits.

They are long now and I am dreading it.

roloma, I used to use a different set of clippers for her nails, but when I started using mine she was a bit more into it. It's also basically the only time I let her watch TV.

You'd think I was trying to sever his toes with the kicking and fussing that goes on.

Only my children will take something as simple as playing in the sand and make it the most dangerous thing. 😜 Like shovels swinging and sand flying.

What’s everyone eating this week? I’m trying to meal plan and feeling uninspired. So far all I have is chicken sausage with quinoa and black beans.

Morning, happy Monday. We had a pretty good weekend! We didn't have a lot of plans so just did what we wanted both days! We found some chairs to go with our new couch. We went to the beach, walked around a lake, had a fun coffee shop visit, walked to the brewery down the street where DD did a LOT of colouring, went to the splash pad... Jojo's highlight was apparently the crabs we saw (at the grocery store or at the beach I'm not sure, haha).

Tonight is teriyaki chicken with salad and rice. Or maybe chicken stir fry. We have ribs in the fridge too, so those with potatoes and some type of veg I guess. Sigh.

Ds2 had repeat allergy testing and it looks like he may be outgrowing his dairy allergy!!! The welt had to be less than 6 and it was a 5 so they drew some blood to confirm and we should be able to do a baked dairy challenge soon 🤞🏻

Also, hi. I’m doing a spin ride right now but it is the tail end and I’m not paying attention. Lol. It is my Monday off, and the kids are at day care. Huzzah! I haven’t had one of these Mondays in a while.
This morning, I replied to some care.com applicants for our after school care position. We will need to have someone pick DD1 up and bring her home most days. Then I took some stuff to Goodwill, and stopped by the pediatrician office to drop off the health forms required for K entrance. Then I stopped at the grocery store for eggs and Truly sodas, because balance, you know?
I still need to fold laundry after my workout. I don’t wanna. I didn’t want this busy of a day off without kids, but such is life. At least I can watch trash TV while I do it.
