July already? Crazy!
It’s just me with the boys today. It’s sunny but breezy. E is sleeping and I had to kick N outside. He’s exhausting. I remember when he was a baby and super easy. Now he’s so hard. E was a super hard baby and how he’s a piece of cake.

I have an interview today at the ruralish district I worked at before we moved to Syracuse. It's a bit of a haul from our new house though, so we'll see.

Happy 2019 halfway mark!
I have 4 days until my kid free week starts, but I’m not counting or anything. 🙃
At work today. This week shouldn’t be too bad. My parents come down Wednesday and then we have that evening and Thursday to spend together. Our friends invited us all over to grill (our patio is being worked on and is out of commission- but I’m so excited for the results of that). Then they leave with the girls on Friday while I am at work (H is going out of town Thurs through Sat morning to visit his parents).
Since I will be ALONE 🙌🙌🙌 on Friday evening and Saturday morning, I may be having dinner with an F14 friend on Friday if she can escape her family on vacation. And Saturday morning, I scheduled a workout and then a blowout with an added scalp massage because it sounded like it was worth the extra $10.
I’m so excited. I love my girls, but mama needs a break.

Today feels especially Mondayish. C had some runny poos yesterday but I think it’s just from all the junk he ate at our party on Saturday because he seems just fine today. I have off thurs and fri but have to work the weekend. I’m actually excited for July because for the first time in many many years we just don’t have really have any plans for the weekends. I want to clean out our house and do lots of fun local things with the boys (parks, splashpads, etc.)

Happy July!
We finally have summer weather and it’s great, although I am very thankful for air conditioning. We just got home from the cabin, it was a nice little weekend. H and I are off the rest of the week so we will be tackling some house projects and hopefully having a few day dates 😊

Good luck, cnf! Sounds like an awesome plan, thatgolfb! H and I are both off on Friday and plan on sending N to daycare so we can have a day to ourselves. My MIL does not understand why we are sending him when we are both home and we're like... we love him, but we need a break. Plus it's good for him to interact with other kids. And we pay a flat fee for the entire week so... *shruggy guy* Knock on wood, N finally seems to be over whatever was bugging him last week. Hope I did not just jinx myself lol. We live just outside DC and we are firmly committed to not going anywhere near the 4th celebrations on Thursday. It's going to be a nuthouse with 45's extra plans. The most I plan on leaving the house for is bringing N to the park for a bit if the weather is OK.

I already paid for it, they are going. I originally planned on having a "me" day but some new events happened with house hunting/buying and we need to move up our list date to the end of August. Looks like I will be painting my living room instead. Whomp whomp.

I don't like painting roloma, but painting alone without kids sounds not too bad, haha. We had a good weekend that ended up fairly busy despite not having a lot of scheduled plans. It was a long one, Happy Canada Day, and it was gorgeous. Today it's been rainy, so it was well timed. I really wish I had some vacation time coming up, but with my manager retiring end of July, the transition is going to be the death of me this summer. Maybe in the fall

We had a crazy storm come through that knocked out power and took out some trees. My parents have a nice generator and a gas stove so we went over there an were at least able to finish cooking our supper and hang out. My H ended up cutting up 3 of their neighbors fallen trees and unfortunately has more to cut at our place tomorrow. I’m thankful there wasn’t any damage but I’m really wishing we had power right now. Thankfully my phone has almost a full battery 😊

For those of you that have 6:30 bedtimes, what do you feed your kids for dinner? Separate meal from yourself? I feel like we rarely can even get dinner made by 6:30 most nights.

DH gets home with DD just before 5 and I get home at 5:15. We rush to eat by 6ish most nights so she can be in bed around 7. We don't do a bath every night so we can have some flexibility there. Basically all meals need to be made in 30 minutes or less.

I get home between 515-530 and try to get dinner on the table by 6 so he can eat and then take a quick bath. If I didn’t plan dinner or it’s going to take a while then I feed the kids something easy and then H and I eat after they’re in bed.

I plan my meals at the beginning of the week and they are usually nothing complicated. A meat, vegetable, and starch. I get home between 4-4:15 and plan on dinner at 5:30. That is usually enough time to eat, clean up, and play a little before bed. I only do baths every other day (except in the summer with sand, sunscreen, bug spray, dirt, etc..).

I put my kid in a lot of long sleeve and pants Nike dry-fit outfits. Minimizes sunscreen and dirtiness. Maximizes lack-of-bath-shame though. Haha! She doesn't seem to get too hot either.

I need to be better about meal planning but I don’t get home until 5:45-6. Dh is usually struggling with pickup and getting the kids home around 5:15-5:30 and isn’t good about starting dinner. So it’s usually when I get home so one of us can focus on the kids. Last night we had easy Alfredo from Costco but takes 50 mins to bake. We ended up scrounging to feed the kids first because they couldn’t wait.

So it’s long overdue, but tonight was the first night I put N in his crib, no more rocking to sleep. I feel horrible listening to him scream, and wound up taking a walk even though it was 745 by then and still almost 90. Apparently he passed out like right after I left.
I know every night will get easier, but tonight, wine.

I finally just broke C of requiring being rocked to sleep back in May. She actually only cried and screamed the first night. After that, nothing. Now I can plop her down and just walk out.
