We have a pack n play mattress. It’s not soft really, but thicker. It wouldn’t be good for travel though because it doesn’t fold up.

I thought you weren’t supposed to use anything besides the mat that comes with it? A soft mattress is a SIDS risk or something? Honestly I’m ready to try anything, this kid hates sleep. We bought a pack and play mattress. It’s the “dream on me 3 in playard mattress”. It fits in our basic graco pnp. It seems a lot more comfy than the thin mat. I just went to buy one and it says not to use in the bassinet position 😭

Plus she’ll probably hit those weight limits soon.

It’s ok, still good to know! Probably going to buy one when he hits the weight max on the bassinet part. We’ll be traveling a bunch to my H’s grandparents house in the OBX, so having a comfy bed/ mattress there for him will be clutch.

I hope tomorrow is better for y’all! Today was also my first day back at work. This morning was really tough. My H had DD today, but I will take her to daycare for the first time tomorrow. I’m expecting that to be tougher than today.

The only hard part is he barely napped so he’s been out since we got home and I feel bad so I’m not even trying to keep him up.

I just got an email from my insurance company about my new claim from Max’s birth.
Over $250k in charges.
Hahahahahahahhhahhaaaaaahahahhahhahhh *inhale* hahahahahahahahahahh *puke*
We owe about $7k for 31 pitocin filled hours of labor, 3 failed epis, a failed spinal and an emergency c section. Seriously, fuck the US healthcare system. Hope my Canadian cousins are cool with me moving in with them when I birth #2.

lemondrop Insurance stuff sucks. We have been fighting ours because when I was going for my weekly NST and getting bloodwork done st the hospital they didn't understand why I wasn't going to a Labcorp. Because they needed my blood results at that moment not two days later. Major eye roll. That's been a fun out of pocket expense. At least we had some rollover from last year's flex spending.

But my god. I’m trying to think of it as $7k to get my sweet baby and not “I spent $7k to be in horrific excruciating pain for a day and 1/2”.

Bleh that sucks:/ I need to call and fight ours we just got it. Under Rs bill it says room and board AND NICU/ nursery. First time I called they said nicu/nursery was just for babies stay. Nope he’s got both in there and wasn’t in the nicu or nursery. Then on my bill it’s labor/delivery room, recovery room, AND room and board. Like wtf?! Then I also have a speedster bill for the epi but the epi is also under the hospital bill. Exact same thing for the circumcision pedi billed me and the hospital billed me. I almost posted yesterday to see if anyone else had that. MH wants me to call and fight it today. I’m not going to lie I don’t even want to deal with it lol.

Insurance is the fucking worst. lemondrop tapdancer nmomSorry you’re all dealing with crazy bills. We haven’t gotten our hospital bill yet but I had to call my insurance company 3 times to get them to resubmit 5 denied claims for DS because he wasn’t “an eligible dependent.” Oh I’m sorry I didn’t call to add him the moment he was cut out of me. Also a PSA to everyone - read your bills! Get itemized copies. I was charged an extra $700 after DD’s birth due to a “contracted rate” between insurance and the hospital. It took months to get rid of that charge.

Evidently some insurance will charge you for giving birth, and then the baby for... wait for it... being born. Try me, motherfuckers. I’ll fight that to the death.

My insurance also gave me shit for not immediately putting Max on it. Ok, he was born at 3am. Should I have called as I was being wheeled into recovery?

Insurance is the absolute worst. I hate calling and talking to the billers too. I ended up crying to the lady from the doctor that was supposed to be in network but the office group wasn't (remember that, ugh). I think it's all sorted now.
My twins are still in their PNPs in our room, both have the thicker mattress but it's not soft or squishy. We also got one on vacation once for DD to sleep in when she was one, and it worked great. They've been sleeping there since we came home, but we are in the process of moving bedrooms around to get them in their cribs now.
DD is getting the small bedroom that used to be a guest room and is excited about decorating it in a unicorn and rainbow theme. 😊 I thought she wouldn't want to give up her room, but she's excited.
The boys are getting her old room, it's the furthest away from activity so I hope it helps them sleep. Then the guest bed right outside their door (it's like a tandem room from an addition, old house weirdness). Since we are taking shifts, whoever is on call will sleep there.
Then my H and I can get our room back!

I have my first day back to work tomorrow. I am going to miss my little lady and i am not looking forward to pumping. I am looking forward to adult interaction. I think am more interested in staying home than the other 2 times. I am sure by next week i will have adjusted to the new normal.
i hate insurance sorry to all who have to fight with them on your bills.

I hate insurance stuff. I didn’t ask for itemized bills from the hospital. Can I do that even after we’ve paid? I’m curious.
We got denied an insurance payment for H’s CT scans because he didn’t have a cancer diagnosis.... um, why do you think we were at the oncologist, insurance people? My gosh.
So I think DD1 might have the flu, or something similar. She’s had a cold and been whiny, but I kept her home from school today because she woke up so warm and just miserable. I guess she’ll be coming with me to DD2’s 2 month appointment tomorrow. That should be interesting. DD1 has a history of fainting at the sight of needles. Yay.

Good luck back at work jewelsofthenile and all the other ladies already back or going back soon. I am back July 1 and am a little sad, but it's been easier this time around. The first time I had such guilt. Now I've seen how well DD did at daycare and now loves preschool and her friends so it makes it a little easier. Being home this summer makes me feel like going half days (part time) would be ideal, but it's not really done in my industry, and I don't think we could afford it.

DS won’t start daycare for awhile - MH starts FMLA leave on Monday - but I felt the same guilt about sending DD to daycare. It was so tough because of the unknown, now she absolutely loves her school and DS will go there too so I’m hoping it is easier!

@ges, same! My H is taking off through the summer. We just decided on a daycare today to start at the fall semester. They'll be about 6 months old when they start. It requires a 5 pm pickup, so I am going to be working like 7 to 4. I'm excited about more time in the evening, although I'm going to have to get up at 5:30 at the absolute latest, I'm guessing. I've been doing a 7:30 wakeup this summer so it's going to be hard.

Looks like I’m on my own with both kids tomorrow. It will be 85 and sunny, what should we do? I wish DS was old enough to go in the pool!

Do you have a yard where you can setup a sprinkler or baby pool? My kid is entertained by any amount of water. Tonight she scooped water from a baby pool into a bowl and then dumped it on the patio and jumped in the puddles. We are attempting the zoo tomorrow morning. We used to go every weekend and haven’t been since baby. I’ve heard they have a nice nursing room, so I plan to check that out and then hopefully babywear since I haven’t figured out how to attach the car seat adapter back onto the stroller. Can’t wait for her to be able to use the seat in the stroller! (But also want her to stop growing so fast)

We have a wedding tonight out of town that we are taking dd to and the boys are staying at my moms for a sleepover with their cousins! All the kids were invited but no thanks. Ha. If I could have left dd I would have too but I didn’t want to have my mom deal with her if she slept poorly.
I’m a little nervous to nurse there but I’ll get over it. I’m also a little sad to not be drinking but I’ll get over that too. 😂
