Yall, i have no idea what happened to my cookies. The outside of the package was pristine but every. single. cookie was a disaster inside the package.
It remains a mystery.

Just wanted to drop a little update about therapy. We have 2 sessions of PT, 2 sessions of ST and 1 session with a pediatric chiropractor under our belt.
Everyone is really great, so optimistic about us being able to right this ship and get her caught up. Right now our struggle is speech, but our first focus feels like physical therapy. Everyone keeps telling me that once we fill in the gaps in her gross motor, that the speech usually follows.
For PT and the chiro is working on us getting Ev to cross her midline. Snacks, toys, ect they want us to get her to reach for things across her body. When we diaper change, play a game of hitting our opposite knees with our hands (L hand to R knee). These are easy and she likes them. Mostly because...snacks.
Speech is harder, its more engaged and E isnt really a huge fan of the lady talking to her and trying to make her sign. This is the most frustrating for me because she picks up on things quickly so I feel like shes just refusing to do the "more" sign, but I digress its still early.
So, thats where we are at. Shes doing great with all these people who come into our house and want to touch her and put her on her belly 😂

cythe That’s a great update on E and sorry ‘bout your cookies. Taitai Have you survived your trans pacific travel? CoachTsWife DD2 is having sleep issues too, she will wake up and start crying for a few minutes. Not as long as your guy but definitely noticed a change in her sleep.

Guys I survived a trip into the city to have a follow up with the GI at the children’s hospital for DD1’s celiac. On the train and subway on a Friday of a long weekend and we came back during rush hour! It is now just after 6pm and I’m a third of the way though a bottle of rose and DH is picking up sushi. So much winning today happening and plus also it’s a long weekend!

My neighbor (an older lady) came up to us as we were getting back from our walk this evening. She said she was locked out and asked if she could sit in our house. It was 90 degrees and humid, so I told her she could.
Coming out from the bathroom I saw her husband walking around their front yard so I told her. She was hiding. Then she told us they had a fight and if he saw her in our house he would be pissed. She then asked to stay until it was dark so that he wouldn't see her coming out of our house.
Clearly this isnt a safe situation and I am going to ask her (shes napping on my sofa atm) if she is safe at home or if I can drive her somewhere else besides going home. Im bitching about this because fuck her for bringing my family into this. I feel bad for her but I also have people I need to protect.

cythe the neighbor situation sounds tough because there are so many unknowns. Hopefully she has somewhere to go and doesn’t start using you all as her “out”. I understand helping people but without knowing specifics of her H..... ugh. Also, “waiting till dark” is a heck of a long time with the sun not going down till late so this plan of hers doesn’t seem well thought out

After 6 hours, H was discharged. He’s in some pain but handling it better than I predicted.
The only downfall is he won’t be able to pick up DD1 or DD2 for almost 6 weeks..... so he won’t be able to get DD2 out of her crib. So I will have to get her for every nap and wake up and I am tired just thinking about it because DD2 has gotten up with the sun every single day chipper and ready to go since birth. I won’t be able to sleep in for the rest of summer vacation 😴
*obviously a minor problem compared to H’s surgery and recovery. I just like to sleep sometimes too 🤷♀️

cythe ugh I hope things worked out with your neighbor. Hard to know if she’s actually in danger or just being overly dramatic. It’s the kind of thing my narcissistic mother would do. 🙄 DD is refusing to nap today so we’re cooking some beyond burgers (which I finally found at the trashy/hood grocery store) and then going to the mall for whatever reason. DH was trying to cheer up DS who is whiny as hell today. I mean he’s almost 6. When does the whining end? 😑

cythe I’m curious to see how the night ended with your neighbor. She’s didn’t sleep over did she? She did not. I woke her up at 9 pm (2 hours on my sofa!) as it was dark and told her she needed to be getting on her way. I figured I had fulfilled my neighborly duty to someone I had spoken to twice. She went home and sat in her car for an indeterminate amount of time. The cops never showed up so I hope everything was well. I had asked her if she was safe at home and she said yes. I also asked if there was somewhere she would like me to drive her to and she said she had nowhere else to go. I dont know what to make of it.

So that H could continue to rest this morning, I decided to take the girls to a splashpad about 30 minutes away which claimed to be open “from dusk till dawn”. We had the whole thing to ourselves at 7:30am 😂 It was already 82° so now I’m on the hunt to find more splash pads nearby because they both took great naps later!

H took both boys to swim lessons this morning at 9, so I ran to get a mani/pedi and target. Then MIL and I stopped for lunch. The baby was sleeping when I got back at noon and he’s still asleep over 3 hours later.
It is raining and thundering now which is kind of relaxing. Especially without the chaos the kids bring.

We had a pretty good day so far. E made the sign for "more" (used as a mimic as opposed to asking for something) and she got up onto both her flat feet from a sitting position (hands on the ground) - which she has never done before. Prior she always had one foot planted on the ground and the other leg was bent with her knee on the ground and that foot under her butt.
Either way these are small things but really big as she has never done either of them before!

cythe What a great update about E making progress! I am so happy that PT and speech therapy are under way, and I hope E continues to pick up new stuff as the sessions progress. Fantastic news! Also, what a weird/sad situation with your neighbor. I hope she is safe, and I hope this doesn’t become a trend - you’re right - you have yourself and a baby to look after, and who knows what her husband is like. Not a good situation. danvers Sorry to hear about your H’s surgery and the fact he can’t pick up either kid for 6 weeks! That’s rough. I hope his recovery is quick and that DD2 sleeps in for you more than usual this summer! August Blooms duskymonkey We made it to the states! Thanks for asking. The flights actually went better than I expected - we brought along the boys’ favorite cars, and that was huge for DS2. DS1 loved watching all the videos and reading his books about airplanes, while on an airplane 🤣😂. Our arrival in the USA was kind of chaotic - I felt like we were arriving in a 3rd world country - it was so busy and disorganized and dirty....what a welcome America. @dusky - yes, we were fortunate to have been able to fly business, which made a woooooorld of difference. It would have been really tough to do that long of a trip in economy. Glad it’s over....until we go back in 5 weeks 😁

H kept DS2 home yesterday to try and get his diaper rash under control. He picked up some triple paste! But DS stuck his hand in it and started eating it when he wasn’t looking so that resulted in a call with poison control. I think it’s looking better. I just wish it would stop coming back! Nooooo! Kids are the worst! Also how’s the bum looking?

CoachTsWife we’ve either been having super early wake ups like 4-5 or ultra crappy naps but I also think we’re teething here. We still have like only 8 teeth although I see his gums are all swollen. He has been whining a few times at night but only for a minute then he’s back to sleep. There were only a few times, we’ve had to pat him back. Hopefully it’ll pass soon. Hang in there.

August Blooms glad you made it in and out of the city in one piece with DD. Is this further testing for her celiac? Also, nope we’re staying esp. with how much hubs has already spent upgrading the electrical in our house 🙄 plus everyone wants to move to our hood due to the school. Coincidentally we lucked out not realizing it’s a really good school. I co-own a property prior to meeting hubs and my house mate/friend is seriously thinking of making a move so we’re talking about letting it go. I’m a little sad since I had notions about having a place to stay whenever I go to nyc but let’s be real, I haven’t even gone back since DS was born. Anyways lots to do to get the place ready to go on the market and logistics to put in place. I’m hoping we’ll be able to at least get a decent ROI. It’ll also help my financial anxiety with me not working FT since I’ve basically covered all expenses and haven’t asked hubs for anything because it’s my responsibility and not his - really silly though 🤷🏻♀️

Taitai welcome back! Glad to hear your voyage was a success! I’m guessing you flew with an Asian airline - their service is superb plus biz class is the way! Unfortunately I’ll have to cattle class it with the kiddos at some point 😱 I’m not sure who will actually be terrified, the passengers or my kids 🤣 What airport did you all arrive at? Hoping Your family gets through the jet lag painlessly. Also you arrived as the temps all over has gone up. Rest up and hoping the kids enjoy the summer.

JAL, Cathay, and Thai are our favorite ones - they are all soooo good with kids, and the service is just far superior to AA, United, or Delta. We arrived into O’Hare....ugh...that airport is the bane of my existence. I have a love/hate relationship with it. At least it’s not Newark - that place is THE worst! Good luck with the sale of your place in NYC! I think now is a smart time to sell actually. A market correction will probably be coming in the next year, better to sell before it happens is you are planning to offload the property anyways. 👍

duskymonkey Yes more testing related to her celiac, they have to make sure her levels are going down and we will have to do a bone density scan every year to make sure she’s growing properly. Hopefully you can make the logistics work and get your place in NYC sold without much trouble.
