Good morning!
Tapatalk updated and now it wants me to give out "kins" Everytime I like a post- I have zero clue what a kin is-and they changed the order of like and quote so I keep Hitting the wrong one and it's making me angry!
Also I need to vent. It's going to be to;dr.
Ds2 moved up to a new classroom about a month ago. Since that time there has been 3 near-miss allergen exposures.
The first one was a late snack granola bar. Typically the kitchen sends up a snack labeled for him if he can't have what everyone else had. The kitchen didn't realize he needed late snack since it was his first week in the new room and the old room didn't do late snacks. The teacher assumed since they didn't send a separate snack that he could have it, so she handed it to him, then realized it had dairy and took it away before he ate it. The solution, there is now a bunch of snacks labeled for him that stay in the classroom so they always give him one of those.
The second, they handed him a cup of regular milk at drop off and thankfully I was there and questioned if it was soy and they grabbed it right away. The daycare has a nurse so I called her after the second incident and talked about how we could prevent this in the future, the teachers felt terrible and I know it was an honest mistake but it's also one that could have had serious consequences. I asked that he not get any milk at drop off since it's too chaotic but I know they do still give other kids milk right away when they come in, it's silly because breakfast is served 45 min later.
Cut to today, I get a call that a float teacher was helping out, didn't know about his allergy and gave him a regular waffle. They don't know if he ate it because she can't remember if the one on his plate (that was untouched) was the first one or if she had given him a second one. I feel that unless they realized the mistake right away he probably ate one because he's not one to just sit and stare at food. The nurse came up to assess him (no reaction yet) and they called me to ask about what to watch for etc. I talked to the teacher and the nurse and basically said, something needs to change because this is 3 times in about 4 weeks.
The good news is if he did eat it and had no reaction then maybe he will get cleared for "baked dairy." We follow up in July, but it would be really nice to know if he actually did eat it.
In the meantime I am pissed. I told the nurse that obviously their policies and safeguards aren't being followed or aren't effective since literally 3 times in 4 weeks my kid has been almost exposed. The solution now is that on the table where he sits there will be a fixed place mat that says his name and see allergies. It's something, but I feel like my H and I need to go and sit down with the director, the nurse and his teachers- is that over the top?

This would be unacceptable at our school. Each classroom has a list with all of the kids who have allergies in the entire school- subs and floaters are familiar with the location of the lists in each room. I’m not saying mistakes don’t happen, but after the first time, there should have been major precautions/updates made. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this.

Dd1 has day camp this week, and I kinda miss her! It’s been nice having her around to talk to and to keep an eye on C while I do stuff around the house. She’ll be swimming, fishing, boating, etc and won’t be missing me one bit. C did great with this round of chemo. Her little fuzz is growing out, her weight is still good, and she’s only gotten sick once. The big kids and I saw Aladdin yesterday. It was SO good! The right amount of nostalgia plus the development of Jasmine’s character was excellent.

jules1614 3 close calls in 4 weeks is unacceptable. Escalate as much as you want.

jules1614 - LT for Tapa commiseration (wtf is Kin?!) and for support. Definitely not over the top. I would definitely be escalating. Transferring rooms is a confusing time, but something like that is too important to fall through the cracks. Hope it gets better!

In non-H drama news, this weekend N started clapping and saying "Yay" after I finish singing him his usual lullaby. Doing wonders for the ego Glad C is still doing well, paperbagliz! I've heard really mixed reveiws of Aladdin - I will definitely see it, but will probably have to wait until it hits one of the movie channels. I'm really glad they developed Jasmine more!

I think Aladdin is what I am going to take DD1 to see in a couple weeks. H is going to be out of town, so I am getting a sitter for DD1 and me to have a big girl date. If Lion King were out already, we would definitely be going to see that! Work is a shit show again today, BUT at least everyone will be here tomorrow. We are still short staffed, but at least no one is on vacation. I had a great few days off with the family.

Oh hai! I'm here handing out LTs and reading.
Not much going on here. DS turns 5 this week (!!!!). Work has been a gong show the last two weeks, I'm getting 3 or 4 calls a day sometimes asking if I can come in. DD2 seems to be hitting the sleep regression, which in a kid who doesnt sleep well to begin with is making me CRAZY. I smell some sleep training on the horizon.

Good morning! I was up at 4am today because apparently my body hates sleep. I took a random PTO day today and I’m so glad, yesterday was super busy and annoying at work. I’m going to tackle a bunch of things that keep getting put off like cleaning out our closets and going through old paperwork. I really need to sell or donate C’s old baby stuff/clothes too.

Not much going on here. Today we have an inservice day and are having a retirement party for a coworker who has been teaching here for 30 years later. I picked up E from his babysitter's yesterday only to discover that he apparently fell UP the stairs and now he has a scraped up nose. I swear this kid needs a helmet.

So finally, a week before he’s 18 months, I finished cross stitching N’s birth record: Now let’s see if I can manage ironing and framing before he turns 2 😂😂😂

Very cute cakewench! paperbagliz, we'll definitely see Aladdin, it's DH's favourite Disney movie. It seems unlikely we'll actually get out to the theatre to watch it though. ldubhawksfan, hopefully you'll all settle back into your time zone 😁 We had our last swimming lesson tonight for the season. We'll have to make an effort to get DD to the pool for free swim a bit over the summer because she loves it so much. Lessons are great because they are cheaper than drop in swimming and they give you something to do! I also steam cleaned the carpets tonight, so that's a big win.

Hi All!
It’s been a while (as I usually post because I suck at getting on here). I can’t believe our littles are/are almost 18 months. I’m still late on getting bloodwork for the girls and P still needs a follow up hip ultrasound so I’m also waiting on myself to get those done until I schedule their 18m checkup. DD1 turns 4 next week so I’ll try to schedule their appts all at once. But we head to Disneyland next week so it’ll be after that.
I’m SO excited for Disneyland! I’m taking DD1 to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, we have a Star Wars reservation, and I made reservations at Goofy’s Kitchen on her actual birthday. It’s going to be awesome!
In other news, my H just started a new job. Better pay, more room for growth, and benefits(which his old job did not offer)! I’m feeling like things are finally starting to fall into place for us since I left my full time job in December! I’m still struggling a bit with feeling like I’ve lost myself being a SAHM, but I’ve started booking more photography jobs and when I am working I love it so much, I know I’m headed in the right direction!
As for this week, it’s hot as hell here and we’ve been staying in water and AC. Any great at-home ideas for occupying a 4yo and two 18mo crazies?

Good morning.
I have a summer cold, I feel okay but I was up all night coughing. I slept on the couch until my H left for work at 230am. I'm extremely sleepy today.
Ds1 started a rec sports program and I was unimpressed, there was zero instruction given to the kids on how to throw, or catch or hold the bat correctly- just go and do...other rec programs we've done have been much better. The positive is ds1 did great and actually did what they were supposed to do 😁

As for this week, it’s hot as hell here and we’ve been staying in water and AC. Any great at-home ideas for occupying a 4yo and two 18mo crazies? This was basically exactly our plan on our last Disneyland trip, LOL! We went for DD1's 4th bday, and also did the boutique and Goofy's kitchen. I am so excited for you! As for entertaining at this age, my best advice is use the big kid to your advantage, LOL. I had DD read to DD2 while I cooked dinner yesterday. And I only had to cover a couple hours after work/day care! Invest in a good sprinkler and a baby pool. The big kid will also love it. I would see if there is a splash pad around you, but it kind of depends on how willing you are to try to chase 3 kids by yourself. side walk chalk (if the babies won't eat it), bubbles- bubble machine is totally worth the money. In the (air conditioned) house: Spread a towel. Add vinegar to muffin tin cups, with food coloring. Add baking soda. Again, if the babies won't eat it. Mine would try, lol.

thatgolfb, I'd like to say she'd only try to eat that once, but I'm not that sure haha. We went to the splash pad down the street after work tonight. Then we rushed through a noodle box dinner where DD's kids noodles were too spicy (they warned me and she likes spice, but it was even spicy for my tastes!) And she was exhausted by the time we got home. We'll have to feed her first next time and then DH and I can eat after she goes to bed.

Also our bathroom demo is only half done because apparently there is 3” of concrete under the existing tub. Poor contractor. But he also didn’t put up plastic before breaking it apart so now the whole upstairs is dusty. Not stoked on that. I’m insisting on plastic up today...and already told dh this just means getting a house cleaner in here after the remodel.
Lastly one fun thing we came home to was our mystery stone fruit trees that only bloomed this year (I guess they need frost in spring to bear fruit 🤷🏼♀️) were ripe when we got home!! I’m pretty sure they are apricots and they are yummy!!!

I’ve got a babysitter lined up for Saturday night after the little girls go to bed, and I’m trying to keep it a surprise for DH. We haven’t had a date night in six months, so I’m excited!!!
C had a good clinic visit yesterday, but it poured the entire trip up and back (3 hour round trip). My face aches from squinting and grimacing while driving. Hopefully we’ll be able to stay healthy and home until chemo in two weeks!

School’s out for summer!
But it’s 54 degrees and raining, so it definitely doesn’t feel like summer break. I got stuck outside in the rain for 45 minutes during school dismissal, so I was soaked and skipped our last day celebration at a restaurant. I had E anyway, so it probably wasn’t a bad thing to just come home. Now I’m drinking coffee while she watches Puppy Dog Pals.
